Taper Question About Suboxone

I,m an older man 54 who,s had addiction problems since teens. Did lot of drugs when younger. Stopped on my own for about 5yrs. About 10 yrs. ago had health problem and Dr. prescribes lortab. I did not tell him about addiction problem, I know very stupid. Got health problem squared away but was enjoying the tabs. I,m sure everyone knows how this story goes. Was doing 10-15 10 mg. tabs a day or whatever I could get for better part 6-7 yrs. Started doing 30mg. oxycodone 10-15 a day for past yr. and half or so. Sick of the s*** so went to sub dr. who put me on one and half film strip once a day in morning, I think it,s 12mg of the stuff. Never tried this before, but from reading different sites I,m wondering if I should have just gone through the oxy wd,s and been done with it. This week I,ll be on the 1 strip and half for 4 weeks. I,d like to start tapering .25 of film strip or 2mg. per week. I really want to be free of all this s*** not to mention how exspensive it is. I,d like to know if anyone thinks this taper plan might work? Will I have bad wd anyways? My d.o.c. had allways been coke, not crack and could allways stop on my own without too many problems. I had tried stopping oxys cold before and got too sick and gave up. Would also like to hear more from anyone who got off suboxone and how they did it.

Your post is from April; I hope you are still tapering. I was always very sensitive to Suboxone & could never take more than 4 mgs a day. I weaned to 1/32 of a strip for about a month. And that was that. No! 3 days later, the usual withdrawals began. I even got Norcos for it. Not a real big deal. Then...Post Acute Withdrawal rears its ugly head. I'm a chronic late stage alcoholic (not practicing-my liver won't metabolize it) and I felt I was in alcohol withdrawals. Panic, anxiety, restlessness, confusion-awful. And, unlike alcohol withdrawal, it's not over in 3-5 days. I can't leave the house. And, nobody knows. I tried to explain it, but it does sound pretty crazy. Drs won't acknowledge it.
