Suboxone In South Carolina
Updatedto whom it concern or read thus, ( i'm typing this to post any advice/help/asst programs, an posting them to see can or how i can find help) in SOUTH CAROLINA.
I'm a 36 year old , Landscaper by profession , so most jobs are self employee - 1099 income. Yes I have children , but my oldest child has turned 18 , and my youngest resides with their mother. the only reason I mention thus is because I see alot of poeple who are in insurance programs such as medicaid /medicare that covers suboxone/mmethadone treatment. But with me having no underage children in my household I dont qualitfy.
I am almost at my 15th year in a methadone maintence treatment program., When I started treatment in 2000. There wasnt any suboxone, i mean there was but it wasnt a widespread treatment for opiate addiction. If you were having oxycontin addiction , MMT was almost the only way to go .,, so I started in greenville SC , an the cost was $55.00 per week. to which Ive always paid out of pocket. as years go by MMT helped to save my life . Yes it was a crutch to help me walk again , and function , but it saved me from 1 of two roads, Longterm Incarceration or Death. In my heart I know had it not been for MMT, I wouldnt have lasted another 6 months. Now I can nag about being on methadone , or long lines at the clinics, but fact is , it saved me. But flash forward over a decade I am Now still in MMT at a office in spartanburg, and over the last two years I have tapered my dosage dow to 40m, where at one time I was on 140, plus. but now as i step up to almost 15 years in treatment , Ive seen the good the bad an the ugly from many other patients who come an go. Those who didnt work the program , an went to prison , an those who died as a result. Without going into detail those last 2 hit very close to home for me. But the most success stories I hear nowdays are those who have went on to Suboxone or Subutex treatment. So I have discussed this with my conselor , an this seems this next step for me to get thru this hump , is to enter a suboxone or subutex program. & there are plenty of Doctors an Plans out there to help people get thru this type of treatment. The problem is , $$$$$$ I have no insurance, an I am low income. & Now the Price of MMt is becomeing unfordable at 15$ per day or $78 per week. And even though suboxobne/subutex is working better for people in my similar perdictiment. The cost of this type treatment is 2 or 3 or 4 times the cost of MMT.
So I'm asking does anyone know of ANY kind of insurance plans , thats would help pay for the cost of suboxone/subutex . Becuase this is different than MMT treatment , you just take your perscription to your local pharamcy an fill it , rather than the MMT dosing window.
So Its approx $225 to see the doctor then , approx $ 700 to $900 to get the perscription filled. and most doctors dont take insurance. ( yea, you read that right, most doctors who prescribe these treatments accept cash only at payment window)
Ive looked into getting insurance , but I cant find any that i can afford OR I'm not looking in the right place. Most people I know that take suboxone , have medicaid (because there female , low income , an have underage children in the household) or Men who have some kind of insurance they can get from there workplace, that they pay for out of there check ofcourse . , but if its $30 a week out of there check ,, that adds up to a policy thats $120 a month for insurance ,,, BUT THERE INSURANCE PAYS THE $700 to $900 TO GET THERE PERSCRIPTION FILLED.
So , with me being self employee 1099 tax payer. I never have had any health insurance becuase I could never afford it. (mainly becuase the $300 a month I pay out of pocket for MMT) I have never had insurance my whole adult lefe, an now my son is turned 18 , an now come to live with me. & i also need to find insurance for him. & I looked into it, but with him having a job. The total household income is BARELY BARLEY BARLEY above whats you would need for medicaid , food assitance etc. SO DOES ANONE KNOW OF A INSURANCE PROGRAM OR POLICY I CAN PURCHASE? THAT WILL HELP PAY THE COST OF PERSCRIPTION FOR SUBOXONE /SUBUTEXT?
I have researched an called , etc etc etc,, there is patient assitance prgram from the makers of suboxone , BUT any doctor whom provides this, can only list 3 paitents. so those 3 patients are most likely already taken. But I'm Lost , broken , at the end of my rope when it comes to MMT, & if you knew my personal story you would see why I'm so scared to try to completely stop taking medadone cold.arfter almost 15 years of daily doses. I may have missed 3 days in 15 years.

Sorry but don,t know much about insurance. I looked up insurance agents in phone book and contacted one last year. Most of these agents do not charge you. They get there money from insurance company if you go with a plan. They will walk you through the marketplace Obama website and take care of any subsities you might be eligible for. It won,t cost you anything to check it out.
I would call every sub dr. in your area and see if there at there quota for the 3 patient free thing. This is a real thing and people do it. Not sure if all doctors do.
Wish I could be more helpful. Good luck.
