Suboxone Abuse (Page 8)

My son has been on suboxone for over 1 year now. He was a herion addict for over 12 years. Been clean off and on during that time. I have seen a personality change in him which is almost intolerable. It is like he is fine one minute and then goes off the wall the next. Has anyone who has been on suboxon or knows someone who has been seen a personality change.

I know people that have gotten off Heroine and become more addicted to the subbies or the methadone.

I agree with you on so many levels. There is only one that would be disputed.........many of these people unfortunately started taking drugs when they were 9 or 10 becuase of some pusher on the street. Not all cases are due to knowledgeable abuse. Children are now exposed to things past generations didn't have to deal with. And people don't realize that one time can lead to addiction. Choose the right. Make your own decision and don't let those around us get us to do things we wouldn't normally do.

I know if my horse gets cut or a break in the stall this is what the vet give him. He weighs 1200lbs. All of the kids in my neighborhood are addicted to these pills. They snort them and some even shoot them up. They are no better than heorin. I have a cousin saying she uses them to detox but when she comes home from being out you can't understand a word she says for three days. This unfortunately is just another drug. Like trading wiskey for beer.
Buy the way they have been used as horse traquilizers for decades.

Caregiver....shut up! Don't talk about something you obviously know nothing about. I guarantee you I have done more for my country and community than you have! I had a problem with pain meds after breaking my back in the Army!! You are self righteous and ignorant. Go find some dr feel goods to harass. There are teenagers on here that don't need to made to feel worse by your trolling and hurtful words. Don't you know this can happen to anyone??? Are you that ignorant that you would persecute an entire group of people without even knowing them? You know one thing about people on here...that they are on suboxone...that's all you know! You want to blame Floridas problems on us?? The drs started this with their greed. Mind your own business...and if I had to guess I would guess you are on something considering the anger in that message. Shame on you for being cruel!!! Shame on you for not being compassionate! Shame on you!!

Thanks to all the bad pai management Dr s and pill mills. Legitimate pain patients are paying dearly because of all addicts they created Florida. People with cancer, RA, degenerative disease, lyme, MS are suffering because the state has basically cut off all pain meds for those people that really need them. Its a real shame now. the addicts have there fix to prevent withdraws but people with real honest pain are paying the greatest price. They can't take suboxone if pain is severe. So for all the abusers that used Florida for their bad habits should be ashamed of themselves for creating this horrible situation. At least all of you have a life! These people with REAL pain have nothing to take now. I say there will be addicts. So who cares if they can't control themselves and overdose. They are responsible human beings that made a choice pain medicine is for people that won't ever (cured from their disease. So if you are faking pain then don't see a pain doctor.then blame anyone because you abused. Grow up and stop blaming doctors or pharmaceutical companies for your actions. Thanx for all problems that legitimate pain patients are living now. Many of those are comitting suicide now because of pain and no available meds. I don't feel sorry for any of your choices. Shame on you!

I agree with Debbie, I am on Subs, now I want to get off, my dr. tells me it is very hard, I have to go in today to see him to have him help me get off. I wasn't a drug addict, just caught up in a pain clinic for a back injury at work. I wish I would have never taken them but was so sick from the morphine and vicodin, I had no choice. Don't go blasting off your mouth until YOU know what your talking about.

Nicole....or anyone else having these side effects and trouble with suboxone....I think the big pharm co that is responsible for marketing sub should be sued. They were not honest about the withdrawal or the side effects. I have talked to a few attorneys but been turned down, it will take a bunch of people and a class action law suit.

I never ever take more than I am supposed to or misuse the suboxone in any way. I am still out of control at times. I am just so compulsive and never ever used to be before. If the drug reps had been honest about how difficult the withdrawal from sub is I NEVER would have started taking it....why would I???? It's just putting off the inevitable. I think suboxone has it's uses but prolonged use is not the way it should be used. I want to sue. I think the pharm. companies that are making money hand over fist should at very least be honest from the beginning.

I would like to file a law suit against these drug companies to. I have having the exact same side effects...no memory, COMPULSIVE (especially with money), rambling in speech...it's not me. I hate the way I am now but am scared of months of withdrawal. If I had been told the truth about the sub I NEVER would have started taking it.

Two of my sons friends are on suboxone...my son has used herion and oxy on and off for years. My question is 2 fold, can someone use pot and subs and actually be a functional part of the community? Also what happens when a person drinks alcohol or takes antianxiety meds with subs? Just searching for the truth before it is too late.

I became addicted to oxycodone after 6 surgeries on my knees and shoulder (all sports related injuries) over 5 years. Once the scripts from the doctor stopped, the pills didn't. I was paying from $17-$25 per 30mg oxycodone pill. Insanity, but at the time I somehow justified it becaue I was so far from reality and basically got to a point where I need about 300mg a day to function. Withdrawals were nightmares, but unfortunately I had no problem getting my pills each week because they were very easily accessible from the dealers I knew. I hit rock bottom financially, almost lost my wife who I had kept in the dark about my buying pills. I went to a psychiatric doctor who works with suboxone last summer, and that day marked the beginning of a simply AMAZING transformation for good in my life. I still today take exactly as prescribed: 8mg in the morning at 7am and a half pill 4mg at night before bed about 9pm. Since last summer, I've gotten promoted at work, paid off all my debts I had created wasting money (about $30k worth) have all my monthly bills up to date, and even have a savings account of $10k (haven't had a savings since 2006!).
On suboxone, I don't feel high at all and I'm functioning at a higher mental level than ever. I will eventually be taken off the suboxone but only when I'm ready! The point I'm trying to make here is this: you have to WANT to be clean... Set goals for yourself, personally and financially, and make that your new addiction! An addict will always be an addict. Just point it in the right direction and you will be the BEST at whatever you point it towards. And for suboxone??? If you take it exactly as your doctor prescribes it, and you don't lie to your doctor or lie to yourself about how you're really taking it... Then you will never have a bad experience with it. Fact, not opinion! :). Be strong everyone and God bless.

No,
Serious abuse of Vicodin. The one and only drug of choice. Had knee surgery, used it initially for pain and then wound up taking 20-25 pills a day.

Rachel Z:
Am I naive and/or is my case unique? I've been on a suboxone program in Wisconsin and it's been a life saver. I've not abused it and have reduced my dosage to where I'm only taking .5mg a day, have avoided relapse and feel as healthy as I've ever felt.

Can Suboxone be used for alcohol abuse? I have been a drinker for several years and have relapsed time to time. I have three small children and relay would like to sober up. It’s hard to be committed to AA meetings 100% with a full time job & kids to take care of. Your advice would be helpful.

Suboxone is NOT a scam. I have used it to get off opiates. It is NOT intended to replace another drug but only to lesson the severity of withdrawals. THEN it is to be tapered off and stopped. IT WORKS. I know. If one follows the prodical properly then it works. Anyone can abuse practically anything, but if one follows directions and uses it only as a life boat to get across that terrible, raging river called withdrawals THEN one can taper off and stop. EVERYTHING. THEN...one must make the choice to stay clean. No medicine or program can replace one's choices. There's no majic bullets. It's ALL about the choices we make. Does one choose to use it correctly? Or incorrectly?

They do use suboxone to treat chronic pain now days. They use methadone also. It does have opiate in it, but also naloxone that blocks regular opiates.

My daughter has just started this suboxone, she is under the care of a doctor. BUT, I have seen the personality changes and they are horrible. I don't think this is any better than being on any opiate, except it is supervised by a physician.
