My husband has added drugs for congestive heart failure in the last few months. He has developed a rash. the dermotolist ,after a biopsy say it is a drug interreaction. the new drug are digoxin, furosmide, xarelto, potassium cl re. He has been on lopresser.avodart, ramipril and crestor for years with no side effects. The dermotiligist also prescribed prednisone, which did stop the rash, but once he stopped using it, the rash returned. Is prolonged use of Prednisone harmful? Do you see anything in the prescriptions he takes cause the rash.

Hi, Barb! Sorry that your husband is having such issues and I hope he is getting better.

Has he consulted his cardiologist?

Because there can be some dangers to taking the Prednisone if he's in active CHF, it can cause elevated blood pressure, elevated heart rate and fluid retention, all of which can worsen CHF.

Learn more Prednisone details here.

Thus, they may not want him to be taking it.

As to which medication is causing the allergic reaction, it's very difficult to say. Does it worsen at any particular time of day, or maybe after he takes any certain medication?
