Propranolol And Or Inderal Help
UpdatedHi I need help. Ive been getting regular and optical migrains since I was 19, I am now 45. About 6 months ago I sadly went to walmarts 60 mg inderal tablets to save as I am struggeling instead of my regular inderal 60 mg capsule LA that I have been taking most my life, but the past few months the optical migrains were happening every few days instead of say once a month or so. I went back to the capsules Oct. 17th almost 2 weeks ago and I am still getting the optical ones every few days. Yes there is a lot of stress in my life but there always has been. I even quit smoking its almost a year. I eat right some times not enough I am 5 7 about 130 and I exercise. My eyes were checked and found to be good. Why is this happening? Is it normal for the capsule to take more time to get back in my system? Can some one advise me I am so scarred, in pain and exhausted.

Hello, Casandra! How are you? I'm very sorry about the problems that you're having.
It could just be that your body has grown tolerant to this dosage, so it may no longer work as well for you. This is completely normal and can happen with any medication that someone takes for a prolonged period of time.
For migraines, the dosage can go as high as 240mgs daily, so you may need a dosage adjustment.
Is there anything else I can help with?
This medication may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, increased urination, stomach pain and dry cough.
Hi thank you for the reply. I have been on this dose since I ws 19, Im 45. I cant say it stoppd them completely but it seems since I went off of the normal med to the cheap kind its taking long for the regular capsule to build back up in my body again. I almost went 3 weeks but my sight went again the other day. I really do want a higher dose my hands and feet freeze from this dose but I deal with it. Im scarred.
If you're experiencing Reynaud's Syndrome from it, then you need to speak to your doctor, as you should probably try a different medication. That tends to just get worse with time, if you keep taking the relevant medication that's causing or worsening it.
How are you feeling today?
Hi Casandra here, well its been hard but I finally went one month and 2 weeks without an optical migrain since being back on my normal medication and not the cheap tablet meds! I advise is to ask for financial help anywhere you can but never go less expensive on your health. I am back on the inderal capsule LA 60mg and although it took about 2 months to get back into my system I feel confident it is working again. I know I will experience these all my life still but the med helps it from happening every few days. To all those who cared top comment thank you so very much and I wish everyone good health and to be safe.
I am so glad that you've got them under control, again.
And that is excellent advice! Thank you!
Hi ironically I experienced a minor one lasting about 20 minutes last evening. Again, I know I will always get them and the past few weeks the stress and not eating for days at a time due to the stress was bound to bring one on. I am trying to control the stress but its health and family related so it is difficult. Thank you for the thoughts.
I understand that issue of not eating. I am prone to doing that myself, sometimes and then I lose weight like crazy and it's not good, because I'm very tiny to begin with.
What I'd suggest doing during those times, if your doctor approves, is picking up some Ensure. It's not the best tasting stuff, but it does provide a lot of excellent nutrients that you need and may help avoid triggering the migraines.
Hi thank you so much! Yes that is a good idea. Sadly due to the disability I have and depression I go through bouts of not being able to eat so yes that would help. I try so hard, but I lost all my family or they lost me no friends and it hurts as I was so good to everyone but people can be selfish! Your words mean so much.
I understand, I've been there. Life can be very tough and lonely. My family is very abusive, so I had to walk away from most of them and lost my old support system, due to divorce.
I just try to face each day as an adventure and admit that I don't really need anyone but myself.
I have a fiance, now, but spent many years alone.
How are you doing?
Hi I just saw this reply Im so sorry for replying late. Thank you for caring, yes that is how I feel and I am very sad becasue of it. I thank you for sharing and I am glad you and your fiance found each other. Thank you for thinking of me. I do have yet another situation. Sadly I do have a deviated septum (did I spell that right) but its only been irionically this past year the right side is worse some days then others. I am using flonase for months now but my ears nose and throat doc is so qucik to want to operate and I ahve heard too many horror stories. Any advice please? It seems like its been one thing after another. I am trying to stay strong but I have days where I feel hope and helpless and that was so not me!
As I am baring my soul perhaps you can assist me with something else. 4 years ago I had a cyst removed from the side of my face. I have been left with an unsightly lump on the front of the fat cell that has literally kept me from starting over, social events, etc. The doctor strung me along for 2 1 2 years giving me cortisone inj's. saying it will go away but of course he just wanted to get me past the two year mark so I cant sue, he didn't stitch me tight enough in my opinion. I dont see him anymore but a surgeon said he can take it off for 1300. I trust no one but am do devastated about so many things I am at my wits end. he wrote it off as developing a molar bag. Its been awful so many ways for years. I am afraid to let him cut it off I was told its from the cyst removal and that it did not drain. It gets bigger if I cry or in certain light. Any opinion?
Please advise, anyone if Cartia xt and Propanolol together has been bad or good, my dr thinks that propranolol will help with the anxiety brought in by arrhythmias.
Thank you
My friend has taken several capsules of Inderal (Propranolol) 10 mg at a time. We have taken him to the hospital. Will it lead to any serious conditions?
I had to stop Inderal migraine therapy after 20 years. The side effects became bad. Now I take a beta blocker Atenolol for blood pressure control and Imitrex at the onset of a migraine and after about 15 minutes it is gone. This drug is a godsend as I was nearly paralyzed by severe migraines with vision loss and numbness from age 8 in the 60s. It even affected my ability to speak and a headache w all symptoms would last 3 days or more. The pain, nausea and vomiting also was horrible. At 8 years old and all thru school I suffered. It wasn't until the advent of Imitrex and related meds I became comfortable. Thanks to the persons who invented it. I am now 57 and will go nowhere without having a pill in my possession. There are warnings for heart problems that should not be ignored and careful dosage should be followed. For me THEY WORK and I am grateful.
