Prestodol / Mexican Antibiotic?
UpdatedPrestodol -- this is a prescription drug I got in Mexico after dental work. It is made by Rayera (the logo is a capital R in a square circle). And under Prestodol it reads Clonixinato de Lisina. I am wondering if this is an antibiotic as that is what the dentist wanted me to take for the removal of a tooth. I live a long way from Mexico and can't go back to check. If you could help, I'd really appreciate it.

According to spanish Wikipedia, Clonixinato de lisina is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID), which is used for pain relief [1]. Available in doses of either 125 or 250 mg. It did not say anything about it being an antibiotic. Sounds like the dentist simply gave you these to help with pain.

Roy, thanks for your quick reply to Clonixinato de Lisina! Something strange happened to me...saw odd formations in one of my eyes and, after closing them for ten minutes, they went away. I'm sure it must have been a response to the Clonixinato which I mistakenly took for the tooth extraction. Now I'm just using salt water to rinse out my mouth till my return appt. in two weeks. I don't take any kind of drugs except an aspirin now and then, and I think the Clonxinato got mixed up with the antibiotic I was told to take. Oh, well, many thanks for your help. I think the eye problem was just a reaction to the strong antibiotic!

You're very welcome - what you are saying makes sense. When I had my wisdom teeth extracted they gave me both antibiotics and Vicodin for pain relief. What ended up happening with me was that for some reason I thought they were the same and that I was to take 2 pills at a time. Needless to say i was accidentally doubling up on the Vicodin and not taking antibiotics, so while I was completely gone to la la land, my mouth got infected. I guess the moral of the story is to know what we are taking LOL! Then again it would have helped if somebody had provided me instructions when I was not completely doped up coming out of anaesthesia ... Anyways, thanks and good luck!
How do you take this drug? I or 2 tablets? And how often?
I just got back from Mexico with the same drug for the same reason, they put a label on my box (PAIN RELIEVER Take 1 every 6 to 8 hours as needed) fortunatelyI dont need it. Tijuana Washington Dental was great.
Re: Sue (# 4)
I was told 1 tablet every 6-8 hours as needed for pain, 250 mg/10mg, prescribed by Dentist.
