I would also like to know if anyone has tried Prestique after being on Zoloft. I had a lot of weight gain on Zoloft and my doctor changed me to Prestique today.

I took Cymbalta before, and it was terrible. As soon as I start taking it, I began having vivit nightmare that involves murder. I could not sleep fear of that and also have had experience of feeling like in the elevator going down fast (zaping sensation). I kept taking for about a week and had to come off of it.

Amber, I have been on Prozac, Zoloft and now Prystique. I have had very vivid dreams with all 3 of these drugs. The trade-off is well worth it though as I'm not a nice person at all when not taking any medication.

I just started taking Prestique three days ago and I can allready feel a difference. I have had lots of anxiety and depression and I havent had any of the side effects that people are talking about on here. I would reccomend giving it a chance as it just might work for you.

Holly, I agree with you about the pills working. I didn't start getting the CRAZY dreams til about a month into it. My biggest problem now is figuring out if an event did truely happen or if I just dreamt it. Good Luck to you and congrats on joining the Pristiq family! :D

Kelly, that was how I felt when they gave me Prozac and then again with Zoloft. They finally gave me Lexapro and it was fine. Now it is years later and my depression came back so we are trying Pristique and so far it is working for me. I understand that it is trial and error until the doctors get the right medicine for you. I truly believe it is chemicals in the brain that cause these problems. Hope this helps get rid of some of your fear. Good luck.

This morning I awoke at 7:30a.m., but I did not have the energy to get out of bed until 10:15a.m, and even then it was forced because I had to potty...I just laid there and dreaded getting out of bed and starting the day..But awhile I was lying there, I realized I needed to change my life...I needed something to change how I feel. Last year at this time I weighed 55lbs less than I do now. I want to be able to run..I think I like hiking and I know I enjoy to go biking...Two years ago I weighed 240lbs..I lost 100lbs. I was happier...Now days I do not want to get out of bed and when I do I do just enough to get through the day as far as cleaning house, going to work, interacting with family, etc...Today I went to my doctor and requested a different anti-depressant..I have been on Zoloft, Lexapro, and Cymbalta..all which seemed to do nothing for me...I just really want my life back...I want to get up in the morning and go running. I want my days to be sunny, even when it is raining..Does that make sense? I do not want to look at one of my family members and be mean for no reason to them...I seem to be soooo irritable...The doctor gave me Prestique..I will let you know next week if there is any change...

Along with the medicine I take I have found the greatest group. You can find it at LowSelfHelpSystems.org. Put in your zip code and find a meeting near you, you won't be sorry. It is the best thing I have ever found to heip keep me mentally healthy, better than any therapists I've ever gone to. In the past I have been so low that I tried to kill myself, I'm so glad I never succeeded. I've been very happy for 5 years, the group has taught me to change my thinking. You owe it to yourself to try.
Sincerely, Cindy

I have tried many many antidepressants through the years. Never staying on one for long. Thinking it is something that will pass, deal with it.Ive read thousands ofposts on side effects from this med and that med. I however have never had a side effect from any med I have ever taken. No weight gain, No n/v,no sexual side effects. nothing. Although i prepared myself for them and on a bad day if i didnt feel good i blamed the pill I was on due to me reading about it. After all, that must be the cause, right. wrong. Mind over matter really does go a long way. so does self fulfilled prophecies.
I am now starting prestique, i am going to stay on this med for a minimum of 3 months. If all is well and I see an improvement by then, I will continue. If I do not see an improvement then I will consider switching or increasing a dose.
I am in healthcare. I know how many people suffer from depression and anxiety. I see it daily. It is hard t deal with and emotionally draining for both the patient and the family. I myslef lost 2 loved ones in a very short time, I thought I was strong enough to deal with things on my own, and I do well, but the quality of life has decreased over time.
What im trying to say is dont believe everything these sites say. Some people read this stuff and will automatically think they have the same side effects. Give the med time, evaluate the effectiveness logically. Do you feel better at all? Are your "side effects" possibly from something else? Are your meds interacting with another med you may be taking? Are you taking the med as perscribed?
I am just as quilty as anyone of not staying on meds long term. I hate to take pills. No other reason. But let the med work for you. There is so much more to a suicide or homicide or sudden mood change than a med. Like I said, I see it daily, some people take 20-30 meds a time and have never had any of these side effects.
Reading these posts made me wanta write this. I was only looking up information on the med as far as interactions with other meds etc.The responses on here are over whelming. No wonder some people wont stay on their meds. Reading this, If i wasnt a health professional, I would question taking it too. And im not just talking Prestique, but zoloft, paxil all of them.
Good luck to all and remember" God gave you life, now live"...after all, it may be all we get. Being happy is a choice. Some of us just need a little help to deal with the stuff that has happened in our lives.
Good luck to all

I can't remember most of my dreams, but my husband says I talk non-stop in my sleep since I started taking Prestique. He also says he can see a huge, welcomed difference in my mood and attitude. I have been on it for about two months and we are getting along so much better. It has had a small sexual side effect for me.

I am so happy for you and I am hoping for the same results. Just started Prestique yesterday but now I am thinking of stopping because of all the back responses. Did you gain weight? My husband is ready to leave me, I have to do something....quick!

I've been taking prestique for 2 years and I found it was the best for me by far, I;ve taken zoloft and others but i've forgotten their names for 15 years and I was going nowhere. I took prestique and things started to change for the better. My doctor gave me a blood test to see which antideppressant would work best for me and prestique came up. Its different for everyone. Don't let other comments deter you if your doctor has recommended it. I will say diazapams and anti depressants dont work and should not be taken together or they wont work no matter what antidepressant your on.

I switch from Effexor to Prestique. With Effexor I had a lot of anxiety, I had moods swings, I felt like I needed to "Come Down." When I switched to Prestique due to skin irritation and anxiety, It made me feel Normal!!! I feel like my own peaceful self. I laugh and have genuine feelings, and reaction to things. It is most wonderful!!. If you are on Effexor and it is not working for you, ask your doctor about prestique.

I am 49 years old and have been taking Lexapro which has done nothing for me, except put me to sleep. My psychiatrist just switched me to Pristiq 50mg with a low dose 2mg of Abilify. I am scared because many years ago I had bad experiences with both Prozac and Zoloft. Paxil worked for a while and Lexapro for a while but then they just made me sleep. Anybody out there with similiar experiences that like Pristiq?

While waiting to see the phych at the local Health Dept which is 4 months waiting list. I spoke to a councelor who suggested I see a GP in the mean time for anti anxiety and depression med. Yesterday I did and was given Pristique, I took my first dose upon leaving, first I experienced nausea, and then worse anxiety, last night I had horrible panic, paranoia, and tremors throughout the night. if it had not been for the xanax .05m I might never have slept. That was enough for me. Today i return for lexapro.?
