Oval Pill Blue 617
UpdatedI do not remember what this pill was for. I usually take generic brands of Zocor (20mg) and Zanex for anxiety. Can you help me to identify this pill.

Are there any questions or comments?
My first prescription of Simvastatin (40mg) did not state a warning on the prescription label as did my replenishment prescription (from a different pharmamcist) regarding not to consume grapefruit/juice whilst taking this medication. Unfortunately I had just started consuming one grapefruit/day for about a week before being aware of the danger. I have temporarily stopped taking the medication immediately, as I did start to have kidney and joint pains in the last couple of days. My question is, by stopping the medication, am I able to rid the accumulated simvastatin in my system over the next week or so (how long) before reverting back to the medication? Does drinking copious amounts of water help? What other advice can you offer? Thank you
Concerned, there are enzymes in grapefruit that prevent the breakdown of the medication.
How close together did you eat the grapefruit and consume the medication?
If people really want to continue to enjoy grapefruit, while being treated with this medication, most doctors will tell them to make sure to take them several hours apart and will lower the dosage, so it doesn't reach dangerous levels in their body.
Have you consulted your doctor, yet?

Grapefruit was consumed some within 2 hrs, some over 20 hrs.of taking Simvastatin. Point being over a week of taking both, have now stopped consumption of both, I wanted to know how long to rid excess Simvastatin in my system ( 7 days x 40mg) and if any long term damage to kidney/liver or body muscle. If I begin to feel better in next week or so, I will PROBABLY resume Simvastatin, but will lay off grapefruit period. Since on holiday cannot consult with my GP for next 2 weeks. Thanks.
There is really no sure fire way to rid your body of the excess medication, you just really have to let it do that on its own.
However, you might be able to speed up the process, a little, by making sure you have good fluid intake and getting as much exercise as possible.
But really, what it all comes down to, is just time.

Is there anything else I can help with?
Thanks Verwon. The two points (water/excercise) you mention noted and have/are being actioned. As you say, time will tell; just hope it's days!
