Hi Bj,
From the looks of things it sounds like your body has become quite tolerant to Zoloft. Having been on it for about 2 years can build up a tolerance even slightly enough to make that much of a difference.
If you would like more information on Zoloft, please take a look at the link below...

Since you probably have become tolerant to this drug, I personally would not go for a larger dosage, because you will eventually become tolerant to an even larger amount. I cannot tell you what to take or how much to consume because I am not an MD, but it would certainly be a good idea to change the drug and/or cycle Zoloft on and off every few weeks or so to counteract any chance of building up a tolerance. Have you considered trying a natural alternative to Zoloft?
If you have any more questions or concerns, please post back, and I will be happy to assist you.
Hi. While I am not on Zoloft and never have been, I have had friends who have and have read quite a few blogs on here that Zoloft is having this effect on people, the one I just read that I am sure you can find on here about the lady who has a male friend who decided to try to just stop and withdrawal himself went basically into a psychotic meltdown. I would say from what I read and when he was able to get his script went back to somewhat of a normal state for him after about 8 hrs I think it said but even then after that he was acting strange, weird, asking his friend out and telling her to leave her husband and just acting way out of his normal self. I suggested she tell him she will go with him and visit the Dr about a way to manage this Zoloft by slow tapering, changing this medication slowly, doing anything to prevent what she actually said he was like - suicidal/homicidal when he was not on it. I have known friends who have had these side effects as well. I was prescribed Zoloft and have 3 full bubble packs of them and never once took any, they prescribed it for my anxiety. I just knew better, I am not taking it for anxiety or anything else. I have 2 friends who changed mentally so significantly from taking it one got off of it quickly thank god, the other kept getting it increased thinking it would eventually level out and now is in the whirlwind of how do I get off safely and find something else to help me, and then I have one or two who have taken it for years with no issues. I believe testing by Doctors with these types of medications is important. Not just sitting down and saying I am feeling low, worthless at times, some anxiety, cannot sleep, and some other things and they say oh lets give this person..Zoloft, Prozac, Paxil or whatever else without doing any real neurological exams. It's not that I am ANTI Psychotropic medications, I think a lot work great and have helped many people and many people I know and love dearly but it's a 50/50 chance it's that hit or miss and when it's that miss then they need to really come up with a blood test which I am sure they already have of course they do that shows your level of serotonin, GABA, and other brain areas that may be lacking something or in need of more of something and matching that diagnosis with the proper medication, NOT just sit down and tell me the symptoms because I can say I have a sore throat, achy, headaches, sneezing, sore all over, hot and cold sweats and coughing, and in reality I could have either one of any of these: The flu, a sinus infection, upper respiratory infection, meningitis, severe allergies like hay fever, a really bad cold, a 24 hour virus, a stomach virus, or the beginning of something more serious. So without being examined and checked thoroughly which most doctors (MD's) do in the above scenario I mention like they listen to lungs with stethoscope, look in throat, do a saliva test for flu or strep, they feel your joints and stomach area and take temperature and run a few test and some blood work if needed and then render a diagnosis and prescribe medication for the issue. So why cant a psychiatrist do something similar running some blood work or scans before administering medications so freely and then say almost 95% of the time you aren't going to feel a difference with this medication for about 30 days. That is insane. When I suffer from anxiety I am sorry it's too serious, panic attack like and too much on me stressfully with the sweating, sweaty palms, racing heart, choked up feeling and much more to be prescribed a medicine that takes 30 days to work. SO I am sure the person suffering from depression or bi polar or anything in that area of mental illness needs an effective, faster acting medication that is going to target the area the Dr. checked by scan of brain, or blood work, or other measures besides just talking. I am glad I am prescribed something that handles my anxiety right on spot 10 minutes or less and I am ok. Calm and all symptoms are gone, yes it's an addictive drug and you have to be so careful with it or you will get addicted quickly. You have to be able to control the dosage and not say oh I feel stressed today so I am taking extra, I have had my struggles too. But I have not heard too many positive things about Zoloft to say it would be something I would take or recommend. I have heard that Celexa worked well and there are a few other new ones I have heard worked really well. But I have heard way too many horror stories relating to Zoloft...
