Norco 80mgs Daily And Ambien 20mgs Nightly Along With 2400 Mg Ibuprofen Daily Tuned Out To Be A Lethal Combination For Me I Took The Combo 5 Days
UpdatedJust an FYI. I woke up in the hospital on a respirator after my teenage son found me. This was not intentional. I developed pneumonia. Oh! I woke up deaf. I couldn't hear for two days. My kidneys failed and I was on dialysis for 8 weeks. My overall hospital stay was almost four weeks. My family noticed a marked difference in my personality. Two years later I'm finally more like myself. I still take my pain meds, I developed an allergy to ambien and was told to never take any kind of anti inflammatory again! IMO most OD's are combos. I have what the street calls the trinity. Hydro, sometimes Oxy, muscle relaxers, and two different benzo's. Scares me that one day my body will say, "Nope, no more" and I will wake up in the hospital again or die. My back pain is debilitating along with my Anxiety and PTSD gives me no other choice but to take these meds to have any semblance of a life...

Hello, BlueMoon! How are you doing? I'm so glad that you survived and are doing well.
Yes, most overdose fatalities are caused by combinations of medications, rather than someone just taking too much of one. What basically happens is that when you take high amounts of several, your body doesn't know how to handle it and which chemical instruction to follow, so you go into shock and things just start shutting down. To a point, when you survive, it can be a good thing, because by shutting down organs, it's preventing a lot more of the relevant drugs from getting through to do further permanent damage to them, but if it goes to far, this same protective feature risks causing your death.
That is just one type of overdose, of course and very simplified for the layman.
The good news, however, is that just because it happened to you once, that doesn't mean it's going to happen, again. Just be sure that you are aware of and watching for potential danger signs, such as severe drowsiness, dizziness, extreme nausea, sedation and shallow breathing.
Narcotics and benzodiazepines carry the risk of being habit forming and one may experience side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, dry mouth, irritability, headache and constipation.
How are you kidneys doing, now?
Hi Verwon!
My kidneys are doing fine ( I think ). Every once in awhile ( sorry if this is TMI ) my urine smells like toxic waste. This was happening before my OD, so I have an appointment with my PCP to have some blood work to make sure everything is ok. Like I mentioned in my post its been over two years, soooooo fingers crossed. Dialysis made me so sick. I feel sorry for people with chronic kidney disease. Spending 3-5 hours 3 x's a week hooked up to that machine was/is hell! Not to mention the catheter...I digress. I just want people to be mindful of interactions and self medicating. It can be disastrous!
You're right, it can be disastrous. I am very glad that you are doing well.
My uncle suffered from kidney disease and had to have dialysis like that for a very long time, before he passed. It was horrible.
The smell of your urine might not be anything, it can be affected by your diet. For instance, eating asparagus will cause it to have an unusual odor for a few days and if you didn't drunk as much liquid as usual, it may be more potent the next day or so.
Are there any other questions or concerns?
I am an ex-Soldier too. I also understand how bad the combos are of chronic pain, mixed with the PTSD & the mental suffering from going from a incredibly buffed American Hero, to a man in pain that can't pick up his own child. Just continue to be safe, and I wish you the best in your pressing on, instead of swallowing that mint sight.
