Claritin isn't worth the bottle it comes in. I think that is a lame excuse. If it is not being manufactured, how can Canadian pharmacies be selling it?

FYI this is the latest on the manufacturer's website. Sorry for the bad news.

Directly from manufactureer website:
Drixoral® Cold and Allergy

We are in the process of changing our manufacturing location for our product. Although multiple solutions are being pursued, it is unlikely product will be available in 2009. We apologize for any inconvenience this may have caused. We can offer several alternatives in the meantime.

Claritin® D-12
Claritin® D-24

We hope you will be patient with us during this period and thank you for supporting our product.

I found Drixoral Cold & Sinus at Trumedcanada. It only cost me $23.75 and was shipped to me promptly. The Customer Service is great! I also looked at other online pharmacies, they were either much more expensive or out of stock. If you are not sure give them a call.

I've been researching Canadian pharmacies online for Drixoral and found the best price so far at crossborderpharmacy. $15.25 for 20, $76.25 for 100, i.e. all are 76 cents per tablet. The product is called Drixoral Cold and Sinus extended release tablets, which, the trumedcanada site says is the Canadian name for Drixoral Cold & Allergy the name it's packaged under in the US. Has anyone used this pharmacy? The only one I see recommended on this site is the trumedcanada site. Their price is $23.75 for 20, or $1.19 per tablet. Please advise. Thanks! Didn't know there were so many people in the same boat looking for this med!

Thanks for the link for Drixoral. It is nice to have it back in my medicine chest. I was getting something from Denmark that was almost the same but not quite as good.

Drixoral NA:

Thank you for verifying and providing the link.

Just an update: I was able to receive a refund for the generic substitute. Which is good, but... it was still frustrating I had to go through the process of calling and requesting to speak w/a supervisor!

Thank you again for checking.

It is drixoral for sure. Packaging is different but ingredients are the same. TruMedCanada is one of the few to have drixoral in stock. See my previous post for the link.

Drixoral NA,

Just a quick question - was it really Drixoral or was it a substitute like Disophorol? I have had trouble w/a specific pharmacy in Canada which substituted w/o notifying me before sending the order.

You can still find drixoral from Canada and many online canadian pharmacies are selling it. I tried one of them and they had it readily available. The link to their page is http://www.trumedcanada.com/OTC/Drixoral.Dexbrompheniramine.cold.12.hour.relief.aspx
I received my 20 pack in 3 days!! They have awesome customer service and I will surely go back to them for a refill

Drixoral is the only medicine that works for me as well, and I am very upset that I couldn't find it anywhere. I hope that everyone can get it soon!

Drixoral was taken off the market due to meth dealers using it as a key componant. Period.
The DEA is depriving regular citizens rather than doing their jobs.
When Prop 5 passes here in California, we will see Drixoral again. Prop 5 decriminalizes drug use and offers treatment instead.
Meanwhile - write to your Senator and Representative AND DEMAND DRIXORAL.
Big Pharm lobbyists and the DEA are causing this problem.
We, the people, will get our Drixoral back!!!
Email, write, call. Stop whinning! Just do it!

DRIXORAL is a highly addictive OTC drug which even though helps you, gets you hooked for life.
I took it for years and had to stop it after it was taken off the market.
I had severe withdrawl symptoms that lasted a long time but I am finally off of it. I had terrible headaches, felt nauseated, tired, itchy, achy all over.
The government must know something they are not telling us if all other similar drugs have also vanished.
Watch out!

Is there any way to sue the pharmaceutical industry for not providing a necessary drug? Drixoral is incredibly effective whereas the newer allergy medications can only treat mild forms of allergy. The fact that it is no longer available in the US is sick.

First Seldane. Now Drixoral. It is likely the US Government and/or lawsuit industry is behind this in some way. Sad.

I was told that Drug Mart was no longer carry Drixoral. Why? Drixoral is the only one that helps me.

I cannot take Pseudoephedrine hydrochloride, which is what most of the decongestants utilize in their composition.

I can take Drixoral because it is a combination of Dexbrompheniramine Maleate and Pseudoephedrine Sulfate. There is a difference. So, please, long-time Drixoral users... when looking for a substitute, read the label. It is possible the Pseudoephedrine Hydrochloride is contraindicated.

The following is the ingredient list from Drixoral:
Dexbrompheniramine Maleate 6 mg, Pseudoephedrine Sulfate 120 mg Inactive Ingredients Butylparaben, Calcium Sulfate, Carmuba Wax, Corn Starch, D&C Yellow #10 Aluminum Lake, FD&C Blue #1 Aluminum Lake, FD&C Yellow #6 Aluminum Lake, Gelatin, Lactose, Magnesium Stearate, Neutral Soap, Oleic Acid, Povidone, Rosin, Talc, White Wax, Zein, Acacia

From what I understand Dimetapp Allergy Liqui-Gels have the same antihistamine. Just get something with just pseudoephedine in it and we are golden again!

I have been taking Drixoral for about 22 years now. It was the only medication that helped my allergies.
A lot of companies have really screwed up on this one! I used to be able to buy it at Target for $5.99 for 20. I always went to Target to get it, because other stores charged $6.99 for 10, or $10.99 for 20. Then Target stopped carrying it about 2 years ago! I'm not sure why, because they couldn't keep it in stock!
Once the Gov't started cracking down on Meth heads, even fewer stores carried it. The cheapest place I could find it was Wal-Mart, and CVS had it but charged dearly for it.
Now I find out that its gone for a year! I just don't understand why other companies don't make this, because it was so effective! I used to get a generic from the pharmacy, and paid like $5 for a 30 day supply. Then all the generics went away. How is it that something that works so well for so many people, in fact seems to be the ONLY thing that works for many of us, disappears?
Somebody screwed up! I hope they fix it soon!
