New Orleans Soma Doctors (Top voted first)
UpdatedCan anyone help me with the name of a doctor that is not afraid to prescribe soma? I understand my prescription can not cross state line. I have been told by walgreens it has to be a local dr.

Hello, Susan! How are you?
To explain this issue, Soma has become more strictly controlled, since it is very commonly abused, which means that the pharmacy stock limits now apply to it, just as they do for narcotics and benzodiazepines. Every pharmacy can only stock a certain amount each month, once they are out, they are out until the following month, when they can restock their supply.
Technically, this regulation was always on the books, but it was rarely enforced. However, due to trying to get a better control of the supply to prevent theft and diversion, the government started cracking down and making pharmacies abide it.
In turn, this has caused most pharmacies to limit their customer base to only patients and doctors that are located within a certain radius of their store. It also makes it easier for them to validate the prescription, if necessary.
As to getting this medication prescribed, since it has been placed under stricter control, you'll likely need to see a specialist, if you require such a medication on a long-term ongoing basis.
Do you currently have a PCP that could refer you to someone?
Can anyone suggest a good doctor in that area?
Soma is a muscle relaxant that may cause side effects, such as nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth.
Yet the honest truth under Federal law is that the prescription can leave the State, and controlled medicines such as Soma CAN be transferred one time only?
I did not know it has to be a local Doctor as Federal Law should apply. Seems that the State is meddling in places it has no right to be, and we the patients suffer. I know in California and Arizona Walgreens wouldn't tell you this, even though the Doc might?
I take Soma when I'm having trouble with muscle spasms from a botched knee surgery in 2008. I actually have such violent spasms that I fall and have to pray for them to pass. Does any doctor in New Orleans prescribe this medication? We just moved here and the laws are different.
