Need Help Finding A Doctor That Prescribes Methadone
UpdatedI've been goin to a methadone clinic that's a 180 mile round trip and currently dont have a car or a way 2 get there, so ive been getting very sick from not having my meds. Is there any dr. closer to bedford indiana that i could see on a monthly arrangement? I've tried suboxone and it doesn't work for me!

Hello, Jason! How are you doing? I'm very sorry about the situation you've found yourself in.
However, this is not possible. Under current laws for Methadone treatment, regular doctors aren't allowed to prescribe it for addiction or maintenance. That can only be done in a clinical setting by those that have been specially trained in its use for such.
Learn more Methadone details here.
The best suggestion I can make is that if you're suffering from severe withdrawal, you should go to your nearest emergency treatment facility, where they are obligated to treat you, at least until you are stable.
Does anyone else have any other suggestions?
Maybe the suboxone dose was not adequate for you. Usually an 8mg film or tab twice daily works very well. I switched from methadose wafers by Roxane Labs(160mgs)to the sublingual suboxone films and ended up feeling better-more alert my reflexes and libido came back and became more focused. Depending on your finances Drs are allowed to choose 3 patients per practice that they feel are success driven and they can get you the suboxone for free from the manufacturer for up to a year-there are restrictions & qualifications to enroll of course but it worked for me for an entire year. Good luck. The program is called Here to Help
Have u ever tried finding them off the computer from over sea pharmacies? I have personally spoke on the phone with a representative and was gonna make an order until I winded up getting into a methadone clinic near me. I forget the exact name but googling will help u find lots!! Good luck to you!!

Try searching for a methadone clinic in your area. I know there's a milage limitation where if you're further than a certain number of miles away from a clinic, then they have to by law set you up with a certain number of take home doses - up to 28 days worth depending on your length of time in treatment, distance, and such. I'm actively in a clinic and have been for a number of years and currently am receiving 28 days of take homes so I know of what I speak. I know that not having a car (I'm in the same boat) is a pain in the butt, but it's far easier to get transportation once a month or so than it is every day. Also, this way you could stabilize and/or work on tapering if that's what you decide to do ultimately.
Willing to help, what is your current dose per day? And Dr. 's can prescribe them for pain management. Some ppl are just not willing to do research and just repeat what is told or read. I speak from CURRENT knowledge.
I'm in the same boat, I'm currently sick as hell from wd from subs. Been on for six years, dr dropped me for one missed apt and my son was air evacd from hospital. I'm headed to a dr tomorrow clinic rather, in Columbia mo, but paying alot if money, if I didn't have my kids id go to residential and get thks over, but my last dr decided to treat me as a pain patient
Hey.
I go a methadone clinic as well.
The problem you are going to run into is that doctors are allowed to prescribe methadone for drug treatment purposes (unless they are doing so in a licensed methadone clinic).
To get methadone from a doctor it would have to be for the purpose of chronic or acute pain.
That is why doctors that prescribe suboxone have to be specially licensed and can only have a certain number of patients.
Your only hope (and I know this sucks) is to continue to go to the clinic and pass your UA's so you can get take home doses.....OR....find a doctor that likes to write and tell them you have chronic pain
My name is Barbara Vasey I have lived in Michigan my whole life im now moving to Jacksonville Florida in 3 weeks. I've went to a pain management clinic with doctor Chun in Bloomfield hills for almost 4 years I was on 100 mg of methadone daily and 3 mgs of xanax for my anxiety for spinal stenosis and 3 surgeries on my left arm with 5 pieces of metal in my arms from terrible accident 5 yrs ago. I need to find s pain management doctor in Jacksonville Florida by February 28please help as soon as possible thank you.
I am in same boat, Subutex just isn't working for me but I'm 2 hrs from a clinic but wish a DR would prescribe it for pain so I can continue college and not be driven to use. Please HELP
I'm not sure how this site works so sorry if I'm posting on someone, I don't mean to. Does anyone know of a clinic near Pullman or Spokane WA or a good pain management Doctor willing to prescribe them for pain?
That's not true any doctor can prescribe it for addiction as long as your honest with them.
I have heard of psychiatrists helping out at a time like this. Might want to check into it
Re: spoton (# 11)
This is TRUE. Your PCP or personal GP can prescribe Methadone. Some Docs think you need a 'rehab. License' to prescribe. Not true. I got it from my PCP for years but I prefer to keep Pain Specialist as they have better knowledge. I also told Pain Doc, "No matter what I say or how much I beg, Never give me more Methadone than I'm on now. At my age, I don't want a situation where IF I get the big CA, I won't be able to stop pain bc I'm already on a high dose. 5 mgs. 3 x a day works for me and I also take 3 -2mg Xanax from my PCP 3X a day. These 2 work best for me. Good Luck. I'm in Ca. Many Pain Docs here. REMEMBER: Methadone makes U allergic to many things, for me Latex, betadine, all Tylenol, Aleve products and WORST of ALL: TWILIGHT SLEEP won't work. That's devastating if You don't KNOW it ahead of TIME>
Jason, been there done that. Subs worked on me at rehab in 3 days,,so don't even go there. They tasted so bad bc they must be put under the tongue and I gagged every time. I left early due to the Prisoners that I by penal code cannot be around. After 3 days, I was off 120mgs of Methadone a day in 3 days. Yes, I am not saying I missed it bc it was for extreme painful condition but you cannot say that Subs don't work bc I KNOW they do. Searching for a high is the only reason Subs
wouldn't 'Work'.

I don’t know if this will help but maybe you can find out if anyone who lives near you has a car... If so, you can ask for a ride and help pay for gas. How long have you been going to the clinic? If your U/A’s are clean you should be able to get either six take-homes or 13 take-homes. Some clinics even have 27 take-homes.. I have to make a 3 hour trip too. I’ve even taken cabs to the clinic. I found an Uber driver and she takes me every other Tuesday. For me, I will do anything I have to do to get there. I really hope you can find a way to get to your clinic. I don’t know if your on Medicaid or not but if you are you may be able to get a medical transport to take you for free. Look into it through your State's website.

Have you found any help? I am in clarkston, washington as well. I am in the same situation. I would love to find out if you have found a solution.
I'm struggling with an opiate addiction and I need help. I need to see a doctor that will help with methadone. I don't want to go down this path anymore.
Re: Nicki (# 3)
WHOA....if you are going out of nation for Methadone.....good luck. Not a bright idea. Find a good understanding PCP, interview him/her WITH your medical records. There is NO SPECIAL license for a PCP to prescribe Methadone. Expect to start small(like 2.5 mgs.-it may take awhile to work up to a dose that helps. Pls remember nothing and NO ONE can take all your pain away. Not possible.
