My Prescription Was Stolen Now What? (Page 6)
UpdatedMe and my wife recently had a birthday party for my son. After the party I went into the bathroom to take one of my suboxone and i noticed the perscription was stolen. I have not reported it to the police or my doctor yet. I am not sure what to do. I dont want to ask my doctor for a replacement script because I dont know if I can get kicked out of the program. This program is the last chance for me to get my life straight and it is working so far but I am scared if I dont replace them that I run a risk of relapsing. My next appointment to get my regular refill is three weeks away. Has anybody ever delt with a situation like this or have any real advise on what to do?
I hope my post was not what you were referring to Thomas. I know very well of addiction being afflicted most of my life. I lost my eldest daughter to this disease too..I empathize with anyone addicted. It's a b**** no doubt. Anyway, I wish you the best.
You should have filed a police report. Now, your bottle of pills are floating around. Sure the bottle has been emptied, but if the thief got pulled over or caught with the bottle, it looks as if you gave it to him. Or maybe looks more like you sold them and used your bottle to place them in. Does this make any sense? It has your name on it. By now, you are safe as its been a while and your not in jail. Next time any thing like this happens, to cover your a.., file a police report. I have had to do it before.
I had a small Master Combination Lock on my medicine cabinet, but apparently, to an addict that has 3 hours to try every 3 digit combination in the world, it really doesn't matter. Now I have had my month's supply of MY Klonopin stolen by a family member, a 2x relapse. How do I get MY medicine and how the heck to I keep him out- I am ready to hook-up the house alarm to the cabinet.
Same problem here- how do I file a police report that my son broke into a locked medicine cabinet and stole my whole month's supply? Not even my doctor of 25 years can help me out.
You call the doctor that has the scrip on file and let them know that the police may be contacting them regarding a stolen medication. Next .... you call the police. Report your son stole the medication. Now..... this will mean your son could possibly face charges, and you will also have to "press charges" against your son if you have no doubt that is who stole it.
You can not just call the doctor and tell them about it... hoping they will say " I'm sorry, here let me write you another script , no problem."
That's not happening.
There has to be a case opened with the police department, charges pressed on someone, a police report filed..... then you take all of that information to your doctor and "MAYBE" you will have a slightly better chance at getting a new script. Also, the scripts have a tracing number on them, so the police will track that to the pharmacy where it was filled as well.
But...... in the long run, you may possibly be able to get your medecine within a week or so.
Hope this helps.
He left the bottle with 3 pills, like i wouldn't notice 90% is missing, so at least the bottle isn't floating around out there.
YouTube has shows that show how to crack any code on those type of locks.
Litte John, do not allow your family member in your house. If he lives there, tell him to get out. It is highly doubtful your family member will be charged with anything. Even though what was done is against the law, unless another crime is committed and the family member is caught with the medication when they arrest him for something else, nothing will happen to him. Most law enforcement agencies and District Attorney Offices do not view this as a wise use of resources. It is up to you to keep your medications safe. There being no sign of force on the cabinet proving it was broken into does not help matters either. Your family member has a drug problem and needs to get help.
If/when you get another prescription, be prepared for the same thing to happen. Do not allow the family member in your home under any circumstances. Do not tell Anyone if/when you go to the doctor and get another prescription. It is no ones business what medications you take but your doctors.
To JANE: You're out of line & judgmental. Methadone and suboxone are for opiate weaning or recovery. True, it may not be the best form we have, but these drugs don't make you feel high. They are available for pregnant women too. It's far better to be on methadone or Suboxone during a pregnancy than to be abusing illicit drugs. Stop judging! So she's been on it 10 years. She's trying. So 10 years?! I was on methadone for almost that long. It helped me get my life back. As of today, methadone is available and legal under doctors' direction. Methadone clinics are a godsend to many of us who want to get clean. These programs require work too, and extreme adherence.
I filed a police report with a suspected perp. Then I was able to get Rx filled at full price. Will find out this week how to proceed. He was asked to leave - and he has been gone for 5 weeks, but called begging for a bed to sleep in after going out of town, getting a job, then getting fired from the job when his roommate put all his stuff out in the front yard and he left work to get it, they said not to bother to come back. So after sleeping in my car for several days he came crawling back home. Problem here is that my wife does NOT believe that he took my meds, so he's back. I have a different lock this time after I found out how easy it was to crack the Master combination lock (actually I broke it too as I can't reset the code). Anyhow, I'm stuck with him again as my wife makes me the villain and doesn't believe our - "her" son, stole the meds from me. I am not the keeper of my castle, but that's another whole problem.
I had that happen to me and I filed a police report. My Dr gave me a replacement script when I presented that to him. He said it was a one time deal however. Doc's just don't wanna feel their being conned. Plus maybe you'll find out who did it.
Call the police, they will
Come to your house and fill out a report...
Then you contact your doc, with that report.
Suboxone can be eventually weaned-off of- IF and only IF- the person has made a mental connection to change their lives- ie: a 12-step program or the like. They have to be strong-willed, but it can be done. Unfortunately, a relapse is so easy IF they don't get a new set of non-drug using friends and have a support net to help them stay away from the bad stuff.
I have just had a rx of tramadol stolen from me. I know who stole it and my husband and I gave him the chance to come clean and he did not. We went through his stuff while he was gone (I know this may be in bad taste but he is living in my house) and we found the rx with my name ripped off of it, but what it was, was the pill count and dosage on it with the circle and little mark above the pill count so I can identify it. I do plan on filing a police report but I'm scared he may hurt us or my daughter when we have the police escort him out. I do not like druggies or thieves. I'm just hoping with a police report I can get a replacement.
I suggest that you do go to the police station and file the report rather than have them come to your house. You can tell them that you have a suspect. The police wouldn't have to cart him off unless you want them to. Have your daughter, hubby and the police report in hand to discuss if he is going to go into treatment and/or leave your house; or be removed. He does have a couple choices. Treatment is his best outcome in this program. A counselor once told me, "How can you tell when an addict is lying?" - "When their lips are moving" - so sad, but true.
PS: take a copy of the police report to the prescribing medical professional to get your prescription back or the amount that is missing. The police will need the med info and how many pills were taken so that your doc can restore your loss. The insurance company probably will not want to pay their fair share, but you can usually at least get your supply back where it's supposed to be.
Oh bs suboxone got me high as a kite. A guy i knew took suboxone nodded off and crashed his car. The excuses and lies addicts make up to justify their habit is ridiculous...
My adderall n topamax have been stolen. I just went to take n noticed they r gone. What do I do? I have filed a police report but my dr is unavailable til tuesday
No, you are screwed, your meds needs to be keep in a safe if you have kids or bad ppl in your house.
Please don't post lies, they will NOT refill or give you anything until next appointment.
