Please help with the name of a med for sciatic nerve leg and muscle pain. They are taking soma off the market in a month or two thats the only med after trying so many that works for both pains. Help with name of new med that works for someone with this kind of pain im already on low doses of oxycontin and oxycodone. These meds dont even touch this kind of pain let alone work. Desperate please help.
Soma is still being perscribed. I get ninety a month but don't always fill it as I don't need it. I am also on oxycodone and OxyContin for sciatica and back surgery and herniated disks. I find taking s long acting with my short acting along with 3-4 Adil help. Doesn't make the pain erased but allows me to function. Have you tried cortosol shots? They work for s bit. I really feel your pain. So sorry :(
My dr. was prescribing me 7.5 percocet 4 a day, 350 mgs soma 3 a day and 3 .2 mg xanax a day..I always take it as prescribed and always pass my drug, pill count and level evaluations. Today I was told I could no longer get this combination, (not by the dr. mind you) I would have to give up soma or xanax. I have severe chronic back pain from an accident and suffer from panic, anxiety and seizures which all has been under control since being on these meds. Is there some reason she would suddenly do that without telling me?
@Beetle,
Nothing is going to be equivalent to Soma in the sense that nothing else IS Soma and all other medications are not created equally. However there are a variety of other prescription-based muscle relaxers on the market that your doctor could recommend. The only issue is that you have to take the time to try them before you know how well they work...
Additionally, if you've never had acupuncture done before, I would encourage you to try it from a reputable and experienced practitioner as a means of 'recalibrating' your nervous system.
Lyrica and Gabapentin may be worth looking into as well since they are frequently prescribed for nerve pain.
For muscle cramps, here are some other suggestions outside the realm of pharmaceuticals:
Eating foods that are rich in Potassium and Magnesium (e.g. bananas, hemp seeds)
Exercise / Moving your body regularly (e.g. Yoga, going on walks or whatever you're physically capable of doing, stretching)
Staying adequately hydrated
Hope this helps!
Yes thank you was helpfull never thought of acupuncture as a way of dealing with this knee pain. Thank you.
