Lisinopril Tablets
UpdatedI have been taking Lisinopril 20 mg from manufacturer Lupin for years. My most recent renewal was the same color and Lupin on one side and 20 on other but the pill is half the size of the one I have been getting. Still says Lupin but I am concerned. Anyone notice the difference?
Notice spike in BP tonight after taking smaller pill this AM. Concerned
I just noticed the same about my 10mg refill. Calling pharmacy this morning.
I am having anxiety, shakiness and chest pain with new size pill. Anyone else having trouble? Lisinopril 20 mg smaller pill
I am taking lupin lisinopril 20 mg twice daily and I live in Tennessee. My tablets have never changed size and according to the manufacturer they aren't supposed to. I used to be a pharmacists before my illnesses so I still know how to do some research and get into some pharmacist sites. The lupin lisinopril 20 and 10 mg are the same size 8mm both pink (which is really stupid). The only difference in the apperance is a marking of 10 instead of 20. So if your tablets are not 8mm the are not the correct medication. And they didn't accidentally give you the 10 mg because even though they look the same you would see the 10 mg marking. Check the circumference of your tablet. If it is not 8mm something had gone very wrong during manufacturing and who knows what you could be taking. Please check I'm worried about you guys. Someone reply back if you find out anything. Thanks.
Did call the manufacturer Lupin directly and they confirmed that they did in fact reduce the size of all their Lisinopril by taking out much of the inactive ingredients. Spoke to them directly. What they now produce is a much smaller pill with Lupin on one side and mg on other
Not sure why taking inactive ingredients out of them would cause adverse side affects though. Waiting on reply from my email to them.
Don't expect much from Lupin as they are giving me the pat answer that they did nothing to change active ingredients. We may have uncovered a major error in manufacture and distribution
It is possible that one of Lupin's manufacturing facilities may have started using different inactive ingredients/fillers, which could conceivably alter the size. They do note that the inactive ingredients may vary. The standard size is one thing and is usually what everyone expects, but they are free to change it, at any time.
Have you double checked the imprints and with your pharmacy?
The FDA lists the typical side effects of this medication as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.
I have also noticed the pill size decreased. Although I am not experiencing the same side effects, I do feel more light headed. I am about seven days in on this size tablet. I take 10 mg PO QD. I have always requested Lupin brand only as it was the only brand I could take with out feeling light headed. I presume that once my body regulates, the light headedness will resolve.
I also notice the smaller pill and feeling funny in the chest and light headed. Something is not right!
Yes either a major mistake was made in manufacture and we are getting the wrong medicine or the smaller pill does not have the correct formulation for Lisinopril. Both very scary
I am ready to cry because I've found this discussion - before I saw this, I thought I must be losing my mind. Yesterday I got my refill and noticed my 10mg Lisinopril was teeny (like the same size as my hydrochlorothiazide). I thought there was a mistake, but it says Lupin and 10mg, just like the larger ones I've taken since 2008. I take my Lisinopril at night and last night I slept very hard. I woke up this morning feeling groggy and confused. I was very disorganized at work today and I've had a pounding headache all day. Aspirin usually works to knock out a headache, but not this time. Also, I took my BP (which is usually right around 120/75) and it was 138/103. I took it again and my diastolic was still high - 130/93. I agree - something is NOT right.
Yes Lori H I am totally confused with my adverse reactions to my Lisinopril 20 mg. I take it in morning to try to combat reactions messing up my sleep. Taking it with food helps a little. The smaller pill definitely is a mistake and Lupin won't admit it. I'm going to my doctor this week and ask if he might change me to another BP med
Oh my gosh!! I can't believe this! I picked up a new perscription 20 mg on Monday and they are smaller, this weekI have had chest pain, anxiety, dizziness, just thought I was stressed, what do we do? I kept thinking what is wrong with me!! What do we do?
I found out that the same drug can have different formulas, depending on the manufacturer. Each formula is identified by a unique National Drug Code - or NDC number. The NDC for the version of lisinopril that I've always taken is no longer available. After a lot of drama with two pharmacists and the PA, my husband finally called our doctor AT HOME. He instantly prescribed me a "cousin" of lisinopril - it's called Losartan. I took my first 50mg pill last night and I'm feeling great again!
Yes, I take Lisinopril 20mg from Lupin Pharm and noticed the last refill that the pills were same color but 1/2 the size. Hope someone can answer, why?
I switched to the little stupid pill on Tuesday and almost immediately started having problems. My muscles and head ached, I had chest and abdominal pains and my lifelong anxiety issues tripped into overdrive. Plus my blood pressure shot back up to the old unregulated levels, and I wound up missing half a week of work because I just couldn't cope.
I called my pharmacist and asked to switch to another generic, and they ordered the one from Sandoz. Two doses later and the only problem I've had is lightheadedness, but this happens to me for a day or two every time I switch meds or go off and back on. No other side effects so far, plus my blood pressure is lower than it's ever been and the fog I've been in for 7 years is GONE. I am really sensitive to "inert" binding agents, and I think the Lupin garbage just wasn't made of very wholesome things.
SoI will try to call or go to the pharmacy today, something has to change! Its Saturday, so myDr isn't in, wonder if they'll give me something different without talking to him...
Hello to all having problems with the new smaller 20 mg Lisinopril, there is definitely something wrong with this smaller pill by Lupin Mfg. We all must contact the manufacturer Lupin Pharmaceutical and complain vigorously. Their number is 866-587-4617. I suggest we all call Tuesday morning. There is power in numbers. We all must contact the FDA and also lodge our complaints. If we band together, we might get some results.
I just spoke to the pharmacist where I get my perscriptions and she acted like I was crazy....I won't be going there anymore

I'm taking 40 mg lisinopril, 2.5mg amlodipine, and .1mg clonidine. My BP is still high (180/101 just now). What more can I do to lower my BP? Are there other drugs my doctor should consider? I have a moderate kidney disease issue.
Same with me, pharmacy gave me a small greenish replacement in '15 and again '16. This change caused elevated blood pressure, head aches, irregular heat beat, shortness of breath, I was in er first time, after hours second...this switch was terrible for me...Lupin, manufacturer, changed formulation, old pill no longer available, this was new Lupin formula. Never again....I went to Mylan brand, no problems....last two yrs, pharmacy special ordered Mylan for me...guess what? Now, just back to original Lupin pink round leftovers at pharmacy because Mylan is backordered and not available. They don't expire till 10/2019, they are fine, but two 10's instead of 1 20mg. I cannot take Lupin's little green new formulation, from what I understand, Lupin has stopped producing Lisinopril?
Re: Michele (# 117)
I get mine from cvs and I could not take the new lisinopril from lupin...I asked them to switch me to lisinopril made by watson...I have been better....Insurance still pays for it...mine is normal size and is yellow...I am on 20's.
Ever since I started taking Lisinopril 20 mg I have been getting ingrown hairs/cysts left and right. Anyone else have these problems?
Re: Barbara (# 122)
Yes, blurry vision and hair loss. Stopped taking it and everything is back to normal.
I started Lisinopril 3 weeks ago and now notice that my vision is a little blurry. Did this happen to anyone else, and if so did discontinuation correct the problem?
My pill has changed in color from white to pink. On one side it has 420 on it and the other side 1 G. Is this still the 20 MG of lisinopril?
My Lisinopril was just increased from 30 mg to 40 mg. Now I'm feeling a weakness and rubbery feeling in my legs. Also just a general shaky feeling. Wondering if this could be caused by this medication?
I have recently been put on High Blood pressure medication, which, in my case, was Lupin Lisinopril10 mg. After 30 days on this pill, my blood pressure was not affected, not one tiny bit. Plus, the Lisinopril gave me a dry cough. I felt like I was taking a placebo. Well, I saw my doctor today and he put me on a new medication, Losartan, 50 mg. After taking one pill and checking my BP four hours later, it dropped the systolic 20 and the diastolic 10. What a difference.
Re: Michele (# 117)
No that is not true...the original had fillers in it. The new one is smaller and they (lupin brand) took the fillers out. Whatever they did it made a difference in the formula causing people to have problems maintaining their BP. Lupin is a manufacturer that makes Lisinopril but they are not the only manufacturer... Watson is another manufacturer that makes Lisinopril. There are other manufacturers as well. Ask your pharmacy.
