I have OCD and I have a pill phobia and become obsessed.

My question is how much is too much of Lisinopril 25mg? Toxic effects?
also for HCTZ 25mg?

Hello, Brenda! How are you? I understand, I have OCD myself and frequently do the same thing with medications, though I don't have a phobia about taking them. Anyway, I am very happy to help with more information.

You should only take the amount your doctor has prescribed. But the maximum daily dose of Lisinopril can go as high as 80mgs daily, but it's rarely used in doses more than 40mgs daily. This medication is an ACE inhibitor that's most commonly used to treat high blood pressure and certain cardiac conditions. Its side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, stomach pain, dry cough and hypotension.

Hydrochlorothiazide is a diuretic that helps remove excess fluid from the body to treat conditions such as hypertension, edema and congestive heart failure. Its side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, dry mouth, hypotension and dehydration. Its maximum daily dose is 100mgs per day taken in divided doses.

If you stay within the prescribed guidelines, there should be no toxic effects. However, if you take too much, you could experience severe dehydration, shallow breathing, hypotension, dizziness and sedation.

Is there anything else I can help with?
