Lexapro And Tingling Sensation

i started taking lexapro about 2 weeks ago and have gotten a tingling sensation in my arms and legs especially on my left side... Is anybody else getting this, please help I really like what lexapro is doing for my anxiety but I'm scared I could be getting a wierd side effect.. help

Hi Jen30 - while a tingling sensation is not listed as a common side effect of Lexapro, if this is the only drug which you are taking, and the tingling started within the time you started taking it, I would be inclined to think the same thing as you. Any changes in your eating or sleeping habits? Are you taking any other medications with this?

I just started Laxapro and I too have tingling in my legs. A more serious side effect has been cramping in my legs and groin. Never had this before Lexapro.

I've checked around a bit more, and it does appear that excessive stimulation of the nerve endings in the legs can happen, resulting in leg pain, tingling, etc. From what I understand you should not stop taking Lexapro cold turkey - so I would ask the doctor to help you wean off this medication and try a different one. Yes!!! I've had the exact same thing for the last couple years, Dr keeps telling me nothing wrong. I had a CT & MRI to check for tumer or MS and everything was fine. My dr just up'd m dosage of lexapro and the tingling has gotton worse.

I just uped my lexapro to 30 mg and I am having issues with tingling in my legs and restless legs at night seems like i am walking or running in place, need to keep moving them. I do believe I had it when I first started and it went away but can't remember how long it took. I am going to try putting up with it, if it doesn't go away will go back to 20 mg had no problems on that. Bet just wanted to let you all know it does seem common and lexapro and I think they need to list it as a side effect. Good luck to you all.

Yes! As bad as it sounds every time I try weening myself off or forget to take it (which I already know is bad) this always happens but then gets better after a couple of days. For me, its like my body is just going through a drug rehab because this usually happens either if I have stopped taking the medication or if I just started it back up. Other than that great results!!

I too yesterday and today have been also getting painful tingling. Clasping my hand behind my back and lifting helped stop the the arm tingling briefly. Only 35 days on it but i can't claim my depression is improved or my motivation to get up and get more done. Ran a 5k today for prostate cancer and the tingling was problematic before and worse during the run. I don't know that i want to continue on taking lexapro. The side effects and risks outweigh any gains.

Yes I have been on it for two weeks and have the same problem as you. It is on my left side in my arm and hand. It is kinda scary but my anxiety seems to be a lot better. I'm only taking 5 instead I'd 10 that was suggested. I'm going to ask my pharmacist today before I go to my dr. This is the best I've felt in years as far as the anxiety. I'm hoping in a few more weeks it will go away. I had stomach problem and diarrhea but they have calmed down now also a chocking sensation that is better too.

Hello everyone. I’ve been taking lexapro for 2 or 3 years. It’s useless for anxiety but it helps my mood alright. For anxiety or stress related issues lexapro is useless.

I agree with kki. I've been on lexapro for a long time. Then went on clean and it really started hurting my libido totally, but they tried me on this new medication and I cannot remember the name... Starts with a t... But it was too expensive. And it was more for depression than bi-polar. My mother was bi-polar and she loved klonopin but that makes me really drowsy and on 20mg of lexapro again my libido is gone. I gained 50 lbs but am trying to quit smoking also. I've been trying for years. Why can't I find anything to help? Thank u. Hugs n kisses.

I have the same side effect and it is annoying and scary. My Dr wanted to send me to a neurologist but then said, "let's cut your dose in half for 2 weeks. If it doesn't go away then stop the medicine for 2 more weeks. If you still have it then we will send you to a neurologist".
I always get the "odd" side effects. It's too bad because it has really helped the anxiety.
