I wanted to see if anyone can tell me the known side effects with smoking majiuana and taking lamictal, if any. I have been trying to get info on this for about 2 months and can not seem to get anything back on it. Of course my doctor and counselor says tht it is not good to do ANY drugs...but I have to be honest, I smoke and dont plan on stopping...so I would like to know what to expect when these two are combined. Thank you and I would love to hear a responce about this. By the way, I do not smoke alone so I need to know what to expect so I can educate my husband. Thank you again, Leilani

I was told that if you smoke weed and take this medication, it will cause you to be compleatly f***ed up. im just 16 so i was thinking they are lieing, are they just so they hope i stop? or will it really?

I take lamictal for manic depressive and I smoke for the same reason. In my experience, it almost makes the high... Better. It seems to take a lot more to get me high, but the high seems a ton better. More quality. Lasts longer. Etc.

im on lamictal and marijuana has never affected me ive been this way since i was 6 so weed causing it is idiotic but not weed has no affect on your lamictal

I've been on lamotragine 200mg and Serquol 300mg for a number of years. I smoke about a joint of pot a day and I've never had any negative side effects. That being said I don't combine them together. If I toke at night I usually wait 30 min before taking my me da, that's just me though. My psychrist knows I smoke cannabis and he hasn't warned me of any negative side effects. I'm 100% confident that if there was any risk he would have informed me.

I take Lamictal 100mg in addition to about six other medications, and I have been smoking once a day at night for most of this year. I just recently started taking the Lamictal - within the last six weeks - and I have noticed that I feel worse than before the day after I smoke. I am taking Lamictal for my migraines. I find that the day after I smoke my migraine symptoms get worse. I am trying to stop smoking but it is hard to, as I've begun to crave pot and I have gotten used to smoking it regularly. I would also like to add that while smoking pot regularly, I stopped getting my period. Most people will moan and complain that pot is harmless, but there are cases like mine where it seems to do more harm than good.

your words sound as though they come from a true non smoker that has no idea of what pot is.where did you hear pot makes you depressed after smoking for some time.thats just foolish and baseless.i have never known of anyone that will continue any type of medication to become depressed.weather you like it or not,humans have been doing their own non-government funded ,clinical study of pot for thousands of years.the human brain has evolved with pot use and has specific receptors that are for only one purpose and that is for pot .yes pot.pot is the onlyplant or drug that our brain has its own mechanism built in to process it like it is part of our own bodies.it is almost like it was once a chemical part of us at some time in the past.as a long time pot user.even i was surprised to hear that is now a known fact.pot is only harmfull to oil companies ,paper companies,textile companies,and those effected by the deadly effects of it being made illegal by companies that would dry up and blow away shorty after the mirical of this high fiber plant.put pot smokers smiling faces out of your mind for va day or to and reserch what hemp could do for our polluted earth.hemp is not pot.no one will feel high off of it.you want money ,jobs and some respect for our country to come back.people are going to have to take their hands off of their eyes and stop refusing the see all of the years of hard work that is documted about hemp and its sister plant pot.hemp can save the world and pot can make you happy.is that all so bad.please open your eyes and see.no one if asking you to smoke it.but if you keep insisting it is bad,just because you say so,then you may as well just give it to your kids because they will want to get it just to see how bad it realy is.and we cant have all of those prozac junky kids smiling and consentrating on their school work now can we. that would be terrible.pot is your friend after age 18 ,of course. yes prozac type drugs can make kids happy too.and thats fine until the one hour that you kill yourself.i've seen it so many times.

i just started taking lamictal, haven't taken any mood disorder medication in over 7yrs. i have insomnia. i do drink some cannabis tea, calms my nerves, i don't like to take pills. wish i could find something that works that doesn't have horrible side effects.

I would have to agree with you on this. I came here to look at the side effects of using lamictal and marijuana together and with some people it does in fact create a more stressed and manic bipolar episode like it does in me. It also makes me irritated faster and unable to control my anxiety attacks or my out bursts. I feel more level and less depressed with out the use of marijuana. So it indeed affects your moods good or bad. For me its a bad reaction. Everyone is different, analyze your moods in a journal while on marijuana and lamictal, and a week to two weeks off of marijuana. I saw a big difference.

I am taking Lamictal (Lamotrigine) for my epilepsy, 300mg (1.5 tabs twice a day). I was diagnosed with Juvenile Myoclonic epilepsy when I was 12 and have been taking Lamictal since I was 14. I've never had a seizure or any bad side effects on this medication. I've wanted to try marijuana for a long time but I don't know if I would be affected.

Smoking on lamictal gives me anxiety, makes me become shaky and depressed. Instead of getting high, I just feel low :(

I am a female and just turned 19 and was diagnosed with Juvenile Myoclonic Epilepsy when I was 16 and am on 400mg of Lamictal and 1500mg of Keppra and am also wondering the same thing. I've only ever had a grand mal seizure because I drank coffee and another grand mal when I forgot to take my meds. I'm also curious as to how cannabis will affect me so I think maybe just try a little bit and see how you go? :)

I have taken, then stopped, lamictal 200. Smoked ten years. Smoking with lamictal makes me worse. Both give the brain chemical glutamate to be suppressed. I think they counteract in trying to do the same thing.

I was smoking the past year until a recent episode. But my cannabis intake has decreased and symptoms increased back to needing meds.

I usually feel worse and my ocd thoughts can get worse.

I've been taking Lamictal for many many years. I've not had any significant side effects, whereas I still have lingering effects from a medication I've been off for almost 15 years. I take it for epilepsy, and it works wonderfully. I do carry around a lot of anxiety and tension, and marijuana has been recommended to me for that. I worry about it lowering my seizure threshold

I've been taking prescription anti-depressants off and on for years while smoking pot. Anyone who says there are adverse effects is full of s**t in my opinion.

Pot will and can make you depressed. you say you've never met anyone that gets depressed while smoking cannabis.... I do it kills your body's ability to make its own THC and when that ability stops and or you get too much THC im sorry but you get depressed as f*** im living proof and lamictal is used for depression aka mood stabilizer for those that dont know what depression is.

If your smoking pot and taking lamictal is wrong! Physically I am not sure.. but mentially just maybe it's the reason you are on Lamictal. You are depressed right? It makes you depressed after you have been smoking for some time. It's an addition and additions affect you mentally.. you smoke to feel better you dont need it now you have lamitial ..go and fine yourself.. live free.. and feel the you... it can be done
