Hello, Kristi! How is your pup? I'm sorry that she's in pain.
Many dogs are given a dosage similar to that which people are given, 500mgs twice a day, but only your veterinarian can say if it is safe for your dog to take.
Additionally, a dental infection is usually due to some underlying issue, such as a loose tooth or cavity, which an antibiotic will not remedy, so it will require veterinary treatment, or the infection will keep returning.
Side effects in canines are similar to those experienced by people and may include nausea, drowsiness, diarrhea and skin rash.
