Are they for anxiety? And will it put me to sleep? HOW STRONG IS IT REALLY? MY ANXIETY HAS BEEN BAD SINCE I LOST MY JOB AND I NEED SUMTHING TO REALLY HELP ME ..

Gabapentin was originally developed for the treatment of epilepsy, and is currently widely used to relieve neuropathic pain. However it also has an off-label use in the treatment of anxiety associated with bipolar disorder. On the contrary, wikipedia notes that Gapapentin has a "limited usefulness" in disorders such as social anxiety disorder and obsessive-compulsive disorder, in treatment-resistant depression, and for insomnia. That said, there may be better options out there for you, depending on the "type of anxiety" you might be facing on a day to day basis.

I agree. This medication is a poor anti-anxiety drug. It is chemically structured differently than a benzodiazapine so the odds are that it won't help a lot. Think of it as a cousin to a benzo. A medication that I take for seizures is Klonopin. It is also used for anxiety because it is a benzo. The plus of this drug is that it has a low abuse rate because you can't really tell you've taken it. Put a lot of thought into what you think might cause your anxiety. Pills aren't really the answer.
