I am now 70, Indian, fish-eating, diabetic (type-1). I had been taking telma-h for a few years until 2008. i underwent brain surgery for hemorrhage due to a fall in 2008. i was tested to be hyponatremic (sodium consistently below 128). my medication was changed to telma plus amlodipine, nebistar. but sodium never rose beyond 130. recently i got tested for electrolyte. potassium continues to be normal like before, but sodium is 122; calcium and chloride are also below normal. for diabetes i take glycephase and glynase (now stopped by the physician) plus mixtard/novomix insulin. my energy level has been going down although i am still active intellectually (reading, writing, lecturing). right since my childhood days, i have a strong craving for salty and sour food. what can be the reason for my continuous hyponatremia?

You may ask your doctor to prescribe you a salt tablet to bring your sodium up to 135. You can also drink gatorade once in a while but be sure to monitor your sodium regularly. Usually a weak kidney is causing the low sodium
Hi, KKC! How are you?
What other types of foods do you eat?
If they are all very low in sodium, that could be what's causing it.
Have you been dehydrated at any time, when the tests were done? That can also cause your sodium to be low.
