How Long Does It Take Gabapentin To Get Out Of Your System (Page 6)
UpdatedI was taking 300 mg neurontin. 1 in am, 1 at noon and 2 at bedtime. I was prescribed the med in May of 2013. Increased later when not helping with foot numbness. It has been almost 2 weeks since i tapered myself off of the drug and i still feel nausea in the am which affects my eating. Please advise how long it will take this med to be out of my system? Thank you.
I had to get off the drug for a long time. I transfered to lyrics. Neither one helped my leg and foot pain. I finally get some compression socks. Made a world of difference, and I and pill free.
Finally got into see a neurologist and they did a bunch of tests. They are still running tests to see the cause of my neuropathy, but he did say that too much B6 is not good for the nerves. Also zinc. He upped my Alpha Lipoic Acid. He also said he prescribes gabapentin, but is working with me on my reticence to take it.

Please tell me what you are taking that is working. I recently went off 300 mg of GABA because I developed a rash and need something for my nerve pain with the least amount of side effect. Thank you, MJR
I have yet to hear back results of tests. Also my feet decide when they are going to behave. They are not right now, but am still on the Vitamin B regimen. Refuse to take any of those drugs when I am commuting.
I have binged on gabapentin and if I do it two days in a row or more, I don't feel its effects after the first day. What I've been reading is there is a threshold that gabapentin will provide relief (or whatever one's motivation for taking it is) and once you go over that amount, less is bioavailable and more finds it's way unused out of your system than if you took less.
I've been on it for bout 12 years myself . Stopped taking once before n blacked out n stole my nephews car family had to call 911 to get me under control. So I'm tryn again n yes I cry n cry for no reason . Have no ambitions
How long does it take for two 400 mg of gabapentin to be metabolized if you only have taken a single dose?
What natural ways to you trying I'm in a situation where I have seizures and I take Tegretol in the barbital control for 23 years doctor put me on this for pain sciatica and I'm going to hell right now 1800 milligrams and down the 7 and I'm trying so hard not to take 300 piece of mind I feel like I'm going to lose it in the doctors in the hospital and help me
Be sure to get both calcium levels tested as parathyroid tumor can cause elevated levels in addition to other causes. I am a nurse practitioner & my husband had elevated levels & had a benign parathyroid tumor removed & is fine now.
I've been on gabapentin for 4 years. My dosage was the max 4000mg while I was working on concrete. I have sciatica and acute foot neuropathy from spinal degenerative disc disease which is inoperable due to a mutated internal scar tissue gene. My job also required multitasking and on could no longer focus. I went on disability through my place of employment 12-13-15. I truly hoped that once I got off of the concrete my pain would get better put the damage is done. The disability co. called me 8-25-16 to inform me that they decided I was no longer disabled and they would no longer pay. I'm currently living on what little was in my 401k but need to sell my home to live on the equity until my SS hearing in mid 2018. I am so fatigued, scatter brained, depressed and in pain that I cannot get anything done. Its hard to focus to pay bills, let alone work on my taxes or get my home ready to sell. I've cut the dosage to 2700mg daily but can't take the nerve pain going any lower. What is an alternative drug to the gabapentin? I also suffer terrible muscle spasms that the muscle relaxers aren't helping with.
Kelly, do you have a neurologist? That would be my suggestion. Lyrica is advertised as a treatment to neuropathy. Mine is somewhat controlled using supplements like alpha lipoic acid and B12. Am hoping to avoid anything stronger. God bless you. You have been through more than enough!
took a week to get over the worst of the withdrawal (yes, it is an addictive med) and it has been more than a year and my blood sugars have never completely normalized back to the place they were before the gabapentin. Gabapentin caused me high elevations in my blood sugars. I am diabetic... it also caused 40 pounds of weight gain. I still have the weight I gained on and my BG is still affected. I think sometimes there is no complete coming back from some drugs.
I took 300mg of Gabapentin twice a day for less than a month and have never felt so terrible. I am mentally confused, can't think straight, can't walk straight, anxiety, feeling of floating and my sister and niece said I became very crabby. I wouldn't take this if I was dying. I am now afraid this feeling will never leave me. I used to be very sharp mentally and now I feel like something happened to my Brain.
I have been completely off of gabapentin for 7 months now and I still don't feel normal!! I took 1200 mg for 9 years. It took me close to a year to get off of it. I wish I had never taken this drug! Please someone tell me how much longer I need to suffer! I am 60-years- old now.
Hi. I've been on gabapentin 800 mg 3 x a day for chronic sciatica and bulging disk pain - but I'm restless, sweating a lot, nauseous, and do not have very much energy since I was put on this higher dosage. Now I'm wanting to get off gabapentin, but need some guidance.
I just wanna say reading this blog and the responses had me feeling grateful. Thank you all for sharing and not being judgmental each one of your responses was heartwarming thanks again for all your input!! Good Luck
Re: miss mitzi (# 25)
I've only been on it for a week and can't handle the side effects!!! Not taking it anymore.
Re: Joan (# 8)
I agree with you Joan. It's effects are different for each person . My ENT used it "off label" for chronic cough that I had for months. It was a miracle drug for me.
Re: Joan (# 8)
What are you meaning by 'sensitivity' training. He/she is sharing their emotions and results like all the others have here. What's your problem?
I’m doing well 5 months after my last dose of gabapentin and credit Chinese acupuncture and various supplements for making sudden withdrawal possible. I replaced it with Marinol for pain and immune deficiency related anorexia and went from bedridden in chronic severe pain, to being pain free, depression free and normal energy levels. I was on 5 mg Marinol twice daily for 5 months and quit without tapering when my refills ran out and had zero withdrawal symptoms. It also helped my Parkinson’s symptoms and restless leg symptoms. I feel great. Insurance is touchy about covering Marinol, but Medicaid covered it with my neurologist using an immune deficiency complex and anorexia as codes. Out of pocket at Rite Aid, a month’s supply is $300. Best wishes everyone. It can be done and there is an alternative that doesn’t cause dependence.
