How Long Does It Take Gabapentin To Get Out Of Your System (Page 4) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI was taking 300 mg neurontin. 1 in am, 1 at noon and 2 at bedtime. I was prescribed the med in May of 2013. Increased later when not helping with foot numbness. It has been almost 2 weeks since i tapered myself off of the drug and i still feel nausea in the am which affects my eating. Please advise how long it will take this med to be out of my system? Thank you.
Well Allen I think your post just answered my question about this drug.I am on norco, tramadal, zanaax for many painful issues but now have nerve pain, numbness and headache as well. The pain Dr. Gave me this drug to take at bedtime,300 mg.It is still sitting here unopened as I have been afraid to take it.I really don't want another addictive drug.now I know I don't want it!Thank you for your post!
My husband was on Gabapentin for only about 4 weeks for disc degeneration and firing nerves. He was miserable on it and went off of it. What are you taking for the nerves now? You said the new medication was helping you. Thanks
Anne..just make sure to do a very very slow taper on this drug..I was on 3200 a day and was taken off way to fast..its been 36 days now without it and can finally say I am starting to feel better..still a little anxiety but the nausea, nervousness has pretty much gone away..I was on this drug doing an increase for a year..only thing it really made me do was sleep very well..I have osteoarthritis in knees and feet and it really did nothing for pain so that's why I quit taking it
Good luck.
Not sure if you said you went cold turkey on gabapentin???? Hey you can't do that serious withdrawals.......
It's been almost 2 months since I got off Gabby! Still having a few withdrawals from it. Bloating, appetite still not good, some slight chest pain. Hoping each day gets better! Doing much better than a month ago! Was on a high dose for almost a year my Dr brought me down way to fast. I never left my house for a month I was so miserable!
Do not stop this drug cold turkey. Takes a very slow taper!
Wow-such scary stuff about gaby! been taking it for a few months to help with my methadone detox and haven't had any bad side effects as of yet- no weight gain either.this detox is rough! and it helps with the joint pain. mine are 300 mil capsule. thanx for sharing!
I was taking gabapentin after having surgery on my elbow which caused some nerve inteference. I also have experienced diarrhea and hair loss. Since stopping the gabapentin mid February, my diarrhea has subsided, yet my hair loss continues. I was taking ibuprofen and Tylenol with it, but I am confused as to why my hair is still falling out. If you found out any information about this topic can you please share.
Gabapentin leaves your system about 2 days after you have taken the last one. Withdrawals can go on for months. I was down to 100 mg every other day. After day 4 or 5. Very bad headaches and dizziness. Needed to go back to 100 mg a day three days later felt much better. I go back to dr the beginning of June. So we will see. Also weaning off of depakoe. So far so good. 500 to 250 once at night. A little over a week. In June would like to cut the depakoe in half for a few weeks and maybe take gabapentin 6 times instead of 7 days a week. Don't know if this is a good move or if we should focus on one med at a time. Will talk to my dr.
Good luck Jersery girl. Wishing you the best with the detox
My mom has been on gabby for two weeks 100mg 2x aday and she has anxiety, mood swings, strong aggression. She claims it's a man in her room and no one is here but us. Im very worried she won't sleep at night. I have a 6yr old in the home and it's becoming a very scary experience for all of us.
I too, have taken this terrible drug for a pinched nerve and inflammed nerves. I was on 900 ml a day, and found it to be very ineffective. Did not even take the edge off. I have not taken gabapentin for well over a month and am still experiencing withdrawal symptoms, particularly severe itching. I would not take it again.
Ive been taking 300mg 2 to 3 times a day for anxiety for a couple of months and it has been great for the anxiety!! I feel amazing!! However I have gained like 20lbs and have been super confused so I an stopping taking it. The confusion is the worst part. If I didnt go to school and or work I would definitely stay on Gaba though. Its really helps me.
I'm in deep trouble then. I've been taking gabapentin for years, now up to 2400mg. a day. It doesn't do anything for my neuropathy in my feet. After reading these comments now I'm worried.
Just make sure if you decide to get off Gabapentin to do it very very slowly..I was brought down way to fast and withdrawal is no fun at all.
All in ones head???? Good for you that you are able to take this med. My husband was prescribed this for a herniated disc and nerve pain!!! It's evil. For 7 days he was like and infant. He couldn't even walk normal. Let alone take care of himself. Leaving the fridge open thinking he closed it. Just doing really off the wall things. For him it was a dangerous drug and did zero for pain.
I would try to taper off this drug. Remember it most be done slowly. Of course consult with your doctor. But I would do only 100 mg every three weeks. So it is going to take you time. Right now I am taking 100 mg once a day and depakoe down to 125 mg a day. Can't wait to get off this crap.
I was taking neurotin 3x a day. I've alays taken fiorocet for migraines but never together well one day I mixed. And I wS so off balance and dizzy for 3 days it actually scared me is tat normal. Or may I have vertigo?
I took this ONCE, went to bed and it knocked me out. Slept for about 11 hours and now have a headache, very tired and some nausiousness and feel lightheaded, how long will this last and is there anything I can do to feel better now, my day off and want to experience a 91° summer day NOT SLEEP like I would like to do right now!
I've been on 1200 mg for 3 years. I was able to work and now I've been injured from a concussion and sprains in my neck and the gabapentin isn't working, I'm in so much pain. My new neurologist took me off completely and put me on 25 mg onnortriptyline. I feel worse although I don't know if it's because it's not out of my system. I feel every nerve screaming in pain. I'm 50, 4"10, 130lbs. I also gain weight.
I've on it for 5 days. It's got me so swelled up I think I'm going to explode! My hands don't work and my legs hurt really bad. I'm over it! Took every pill put of my pill case. Not taking it anymore. Thank God It was only for 5 days after some of the things I've read.
Be well y'all.
