Good Psychiatrist In Greensboro/high Point For Anxiety/depression

I have battled anxiety my whole life and my current primary care doctor thinks it's a joke and simply told me "you'll grow out of it." Due to recent hardships in my life the anxiety has gotten much worse and now depression has developed. I made an appointment with a local Psychiatrist in Greensboro but I just looked over all of his reviews and it seems every patient who comes into his office is diagnosed bipolar and put on very strong anti psychotics with major side effects, I don't want that. I was hoping maybe some xanax or valium with a mild anti depressant and some good counseling. Any suggestions?

If your PCP doesn't take your issues seriously, then you may want to look into finding a different doctor.

As to the Psychiatrist, there's really nothing to be done, until you actually see them and see what diagnosis and treatment options they offer.

There are antidepressants that also effectively treat anxiety, such as Zoloft and Prozac, so that might be something to consider. Side effects to them may include nausea, dizziness, weight changes, dry mouth, headache and mood swings.

Can anyone suggest a good doctor in that area?
