I have just moved to Harrisburg, PA. I found a pain management clinic who will prescribe my methadone (I have been taking Methadone for pain management for 5-6 years), however they have asked that I find another doctor. I was told by pain management clinic that I am the only patient they prescribe methadone for. Does anyone know of a doctor in the Harrisburg, PA area that prescribes methadone for pain management?

I have been goin to the methadone clinic for the years it saved my life before that i had been in the subuxone program all it did was stop the withdraws it didnt stop the thought in my mind that i needed pain pills, because i truly have medical issues and real pain, first off i am a diabetic with high blood pressure high cholesterol and i have had like nine surgeries for my kidneys. so needless to say the suboxone did help with withdraws.But when i started the methadone clinic it helped me with everything,one of which being the pain and like i told them when i started i was inpain but once i was in the program about a week i could tell that it was help mentally,physically, and emotionally. And now i just need helpith findin a doctor in gastonia that will write me the methodone in the pill form because llike i said i am a level 5 stable and wanting to continue on the path of sobriety but the insurance will cover the insurance form. And with me having a son who is a senior and then going off to college, and then his brother is right behind him, and they do not deserve to suffer due to my misfortune. Your help will truly be appreciated

Agree with DEA sucks post. I also live in Florida and fortunate I no longer need pain management. When I did go several years ago, I was given oxycodone and methadone to use only at night. The methadone was much more affordable and very effective for pain. Trouble is, from what I've been told many doctors are under tremendous scrutiny when it comes to prescribing pain medication.
I have a friend who has numerous medical problems. She had been going to a neurologist for years and relapsed. After being warned, he had to discharge her. She ended up at a pain management clinic and really wanted methadone because it helped her MS better than oxycodone. The doctors had told her that they can no longer prescribe anything stronger than 10 mg tablets. So if you're used to getting 80-100 mg at the methadone clinic, it's very hard finding a doctor who can prescribe a comparable dose. Very much like PGH's post, even if you do find a doctor that will help, your next challenge is finding a pharmacy that stocks methadone. Best off going to a mom & pop pharmacy because I could never find a Walgreens or CVS that carried them and this was 8 years ago.
Cut to the chase, if anyone is aware of doctors who will prescribe methadone in the Ft Lauderdale/Hollywood area please post his name. Thanks for your help!

Due to the severe addiction issues associated with it, it is not usually prescribed for pain, unless it has failed to respond to all other treatments.
That said, it can be prescribed by any doctor with a valid medical license, finding one that is willing to do it, however, is going to be the tough part.
When you go somewhere and are asking for a specific medication, especially a narcotic, it tends to raise red flags and they are very reluctant to deal with you as a patient.
I am assuming, from this clinics reaction, that you have been unwilling to try anything else recently?
Have you asked them if they can recommend another place you could go to nearby?

ASKING FOR METHADONE DOES NOT BRING UP RED FLAGS EITHER I HAVE HAD 5 DOCTORS PRESCRIBE ME IT FOR PAIN ON THE ASK I HAD TO HAVE MY RECORDS FOR MY BACK AND SHOWED THEM I HAVE BEEN ON METHADONE FOR 5 YEARS ALSO BUT AFTER ALL IS AFFIRMED ALL IS GOOD FOR A DOCTOR DECIDING NOT TO TREAT YOU BECAUSE OF CONDITION IS ACTUALLY MORALLY THROUGH DOCTORS CREED AND CRIMINALLY WRONG THEY CANT DO THAT JUST SAY I AM NOT SEEING THIS PATIENT DO TO HIS/HER MEDICATION LISTEN TO THOSE THAT KNOW SOME PEOPLE NOT A CLUE REALLY COME TO LEBANON DR HARTMAN DR ENGLE ANNVILLE FAMILY HEALTH BOTH WILL PRESRIBE METHADONE THAT IS IF YOU NEED IT AND CAN SHOW THEM YOU DO AND HAVE BEEN ON IT PEACE.

Can anyone tell me of a pain specialist in/near Allentown Pa that will prescribe methadone for cronic pain. I just had spinal fusion in L4/L5/S1 have been taking roxicodone 30mg 6-8x a day and still isnt enough. any help please!!

Go to a methadone clinic.I m in FL and they have places here just for methadone to help people kick heroine.wink wink:)IT was 10.00 a day ajd I think u have to go everyday and be evaluated and cheked for track mark.Although they Also perscribe it in the pain management offices here.Good luck.

I forgot to say I need Dr to prescribe for pain. I have fibromialgia and endomitriosis. In all my research I'm reading that may work best for me. I've tried many of medications. I can't seem to find one that helps. I want so badly to have my life back and not be confined to my house. My pain is affecting everyone around me. Including my 2 beautiful children.

I need a dr who will script me methadone I have been prescribed it for chronic pain for over 3 years and both the 2 dr that scripted it to me left the state and the one who put me on it changed practices and no longer does pain management I am getting sicker by the day I live in the Boise area and do not want to go to the methadone clinic but I do not know what else to so help someone anyone from Idaho who can reccomend someone would be greatly appreciated
