Doctors In Or Near Bucks County Who Will Prescribe Pain Meds
UpdatedI need help finding a doctor in my area who will prescribe pain medication. I live in lower bucks county in Bensalem. I've been searching on and off for 2 yrs but now my pain is just way over the top. They have me taking Tramadol 8 a day which at this point is an absolute joke. My family doctors is NO help whatsoever and won't even write my anxiety meds which I have been off for 2 yrs as well now. I have done and seen everything the doctor has asked for 2 yrs and still at the same point if not worse now since the only things given for pain and anxiety are the Tramadol and vistiral (not sure of spelling) again they are both a joke. I just had it out with my family doctor yesterday when I had a visit for blood work and follow up for meds. He basically said I can't do anything else go to pain management or stop the meds all together that will work. Ummm no I really don't think it will. I have looked into pain management but can't find anyone near me who will take my insurance which is through the state and who will write pain meds and the one doctor I found who will write meds is $200 for an appointment I can't afford that every month. I just don't know what to do at this point and the pain is getting worse. Please if anyone can help me with finding a doctor in or around Bensalem Pa. 19020 who will write pain meds and will take my insurance that would be Great. If not hopefully someone who can write them and would be less then $200 a visit. I am also looking for a primary doctor who takes my insurance, is near me and not afraid to treat anxiety. If you can help with any info please respond. Thank you in advance.

I have been in your shoes several times throughout the last 2 decades. I have occipital neuralgia, bilateral, and trigeminal neuralgia R, as well as chronic daily migraines. My life really had no quality, I just existed, hoping for something, Anything, really that could give me some hope. I spent my entire adult life pounding the pavements trying to find some one who knew what the heck was wrong with me. (It took until the age of 54, before a new neurophysiologist understood all the symptoms I explained!) I will be 60 in a few months. Needless to say, I did use vicodin/Percocet, etc a lot before I met this new doctor. He was against any type of benzo, opiod, etc. I had them rx'd by my long-time psychiatrist. However, if I did fall short, and was unable to reach him, I'd just have to gut it out until I was able to reach him. Back then, I knew I could never let myself fall short just to suffer the consequences, but at times, it happened. Valium was what helped me thru those times. I also made sure that I had sleep meds -- probably the most important 'escape' I had in my life. I am not sure what type of doctor you have, but I do understand what its like to feel medication-shortage. Basically, primary care doctors never wrote me scripts of either benzo/opiods at all. I always had a specialist for them. Once I got that diag at age 54, I started seeing neurologists, and from there on, I realized I found the correct field of medicine, That neuro decided to get me off all the meds rx'd to me by the other doc. (He decided to load me up on Mood stabilizers, thinking he could 'trick' my brain into not recognizing the feeling of pain. But, all those meds did was cause me to lost interest in life altogether, & I just sat on my recliner from sunset to sunrise). Anyway, this newest neuro was able to wean me off those 'zombie meds', put me back on Percocet, plus a muscle relaxer (zanaflex- a real life saver for my arsenal). I short, being put on a small amt of Percocet, plus the muscle relaxer, brought me back from zombie into a chronic pain patient. He wanted to try botox, and I stayed w it. Nowadays, I have a more functionable life, as the combo if the botox, zanaflex & Percocet took effect,
One other thing re Anxiety.....I find it hard to have a doctor rx me anxiety meds too! I used to use Xanax, but turned out that I relied on them too much, and in it's place, I've delved into alternative things like meditation/yoga, reading books @ stress reduction (I read the bible ea nite, too). I have found that the really do help w stress. **Honestly, if you could find yourself a good Meditation for Beginners class, you are on the road to less stress. Good luck.
I answered this post bc I saw that you are from Bucks County. I am from Upper Bucks, near Quakertown. If you feel that your situation is similar to mine, and if you think I could be helpful, I would love to help you. As one pain patient to another.
