Cyclobenzapr 10 Mg Fever Blisters

My husband asked his dr for a medicine to help him stop getting fever blisters everytime he was in the sun for long periods of time, he gave him a prescription for cyclobenzapr, read about it and it days its a muscle relaxer, will it even help with fever blisters and can he take it while on suboxone?

No, fever blisters are caused by a herpes simplex virus, exposure to the sun tends to wake it up and cause a flare, so this medication will not do anything to prevent them, because as you said, it is a muscle relaxant. The FDA lists its typical side effects as possibly including nausea, dizziness, headache and dry mouth. It can be taken with the Suboxone, though it will increase the sedation and drowsiness, so this should be done with caution.

The medication that is usually used to prevent them is Acyclovir, which is an antiviral. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, dry mouth and stomach pain.

Has he contacted his doctor, again? This clearly isn't the right medication.

What works for me when I get a fever blister is Abreva. It's sold over the counter at the pharmacy. It's a little expensive for a tiny tube but you only need a very small amount. Roughly about $18. I've found it to work well.
