Coreg, Any Problems Stopping? (Top voted first)
UpdatedI've been on coreg 4 days. Side effects are so bad, I'm so tired I can hardly move and just feel s****y. I stopped for 2 days for a stress evaluation and had no problem at that time. Then I took one 3.125 last night. I don't want to take anymore. Is there any problem stopping treatment? My blood pressure wasn't that high to begin with, maybe around 140 over 80.

Hello, Ralph! How are you?
Those side effects can be normal for the first few weeks after starting such a medication. As reported by the FDA, you may also experience nausea, dizziness, headache and increased urination. However, they are usually transient and should go away, once your body gets used to the medication.
The danger to not taking it is that your blood pressure could keep going higher. It's actually better and easier to get it under control now, than to risk the possibility of a heart attack, stroke or congestive heart failure, if it keeps going up.
If you really feel that you can't live with the side effects, you should consult your doctor about trying a different medication.
Is there anything else I can help with?
I've tried quite a few different beta blockers, it seems my body doesn't like any of them, i have had nothing but problems since taking them and my blood pressure wasn't real high, maybe in the 140's I have dr. Appt Thursday , I want off beta blockers and try something else
Had LAD heart attack, 99% blockage known as widowmaker, male, age 78 in 2016. Stent put in. on Coreg/Carvidilol beta blocker, baby aspirin and many vitamins, supplements, following Dr Sinatra regime, Coq10, carnitine, L-Proline, L-Lysine, magnesium, K2, cod liver oil, omega 3, vit C, D....Aim is to DROP Carvidilol, SWITCH over to Hawthorme extract, and maybe Niacine. Is this dangerous with Rx interaction, affect what Carvidilol is doing, or need drop or wean off first. Cardiologist not wanting talk about this, of course, eliminating Carvidilol, but all stress tests, blood tests are coming out very good reports! Am very active gardener, exercise, never dizzy, tired, or nausea. Can I dare make this move? I know have to wean off Carvidilol over 2 weeks if go off, or can stay on Carvidilol ..plus add the Hawthorne. I am very cautious sijnce LAD, and other small blockages seem to have dissapeared.
I’ve been taking Coreg/Carvedilol for a long time (years) with no problem. But when I was in the Philippines a month ago I took a different brand of Carvedilol and my blood pressure was very low (91/57). I know what’s happening, so can I come off this medication? Thanks for any help. It's very much appreciated.
