hi i have been on bisoprolol fumarate for about 2 months but i feel shocking .tired. my body doesnt seem my own i would like to come of them but worried about the effects it might have, i didnt take it yesterday and havnt took it this morning , i take them along with a water tablet for blood pressure i was on propranol but they changed them for bisoprolol. just wondered if any one had any probloms coming of them ? thanks marg
Had a quadruple heart bypass graft on Feb 10th and on 2.5 mgs of Bisparol. Have minimal energy and taking my dog out is exhausting! Am tired all the time and suffer from Insomnia! I belong to a Ramblers group and know that I could never manage the 8 mile walk we do on Thursdays and am finding it very hard to do the allocated gym exercises set by Cardiac Rehab. Any problem free alternatives?
I have been on beta blockers for over a year first Tenormin then Bisopropol. My doctor just said one day you can stop them.... Not so..., blood pressure so high rapid pulse!!!!
Was suffering the same symptoms as you, and felt no-one could understand how debilitating it was! I've started medication today; hope it goes well.
was takeing one and a half bisoprolol 5mg per day. felt ill,d ropped the half with drs advice. then now take half in morining half of a night total one tab per day. still have all the side affects but not as severe. seeking advice on radiofrequency catheter ablation as some days are utterley rotton, iff this doesnt work well have to acept pills for life.
I have been on bisoperol 1.25g for two years because of anxiaty related palpitaions but my blood pressure is 90 over 60 so i halfed the tablet and i have been on half dose for a week there is no change
My doctor looked on a document she had and said that hair loss was not listed as a side effect on lisiprinol. Prob would have said same about bisoprolol because some people claim it's toxic to hair follicles, but from what else I have read am convinced it interrupts either one or all 3 hair cycles ones called telegon. I think kicking it in premature one thing since taking both meds. there's hardly a single hair in the shower tray where I used to shed loads from being a teen with no hair loss so it says something.
Talk to your pharmacist and ask them to suggest other medicine instead, then talk with your doctor and ask about those alternatives. I keep having side effects from BP meds. I didn't realize the hair falling out was due to this med until I read this thread. I had the shortness of breath but chalked it up to my asthma. Once I started having a ton of other side effects, I started to consider there may be a problem and looked up side effects. Yep, the more than half a dozen side effects I was having were the meds.
For the person with headaches... it may not be the meds. You may not be getting enough fluids. Drink more water or try Powerade or Gatorade. I had headaches for a long time, and it was not getting enough fluids.
I too get a 24/7 headache. On 2.5mg of this tablet. Have been on for years fine but this year it's really effected me. I came off it for a few months as felt so rubbish, felt great but naturally my bp crept up so went back on and it's made me feel yuk, headaches everyday, tired, nape pain.just horrid!!
I have just come off bisoprolol cos I hate the side effects especially the 24/7 headache , any ideas how long this devil drug takes to leave your system, I stopped it once before for a week and the headache was still there
You best go back on it !! Reduce week by week because 10 mg is the largest tab of bis. U know it sends signals to reduce your heartbeat as a beta blocker. I am not a doctor but i know the aforementioned is correct.
Can associate with many of the posters. my prob started with lisiprinol ... noticed my hair was dry and thinner on low dosage too. my father was on bisoprolol as me, and him seemed like my doctor switched me to 10 mg a day bisoprolol even though my hair has improved without a doubt but it's still not quite there. I suspect the ones with weight gain is fluid retention. u may need a mild diuretic another thing. I would set yourself a three or four day a week weight training programme with no aerobics to fire up your metabolism, light to med weight, high reps , muscles need energy. hope it helps someone
I stArted bisoprolol 4 months ago but for the past 3 weeks have suffered from abdominal pains and the need to urinate all the time, I've had 2 lots of antibiotics incase of UTI but results all came back normal the only thing different is these new tablets has anyone had the same reaction and do you know if it cud be them??
I was put on bisoprolol fume rate 1.25mg last June for palpitations that lasted at the most 8hours, have worn 24hr monitor & had echocardiogram which shows nothing serious but doctor suggests staying on them for life, just reading some letters on website people are saying about weight gain which I have also weakness which I experience is it due to the tablet and what should I do?
I started taking 0.625 mg (the lowest possible dose) of Bisoprolol 9 months ago because of mitral prolapse syndrome which caused my heart to race on exertion. I soon noticed I had put on several pounds in weight despite eating the same amount and exercising the same amount. Since then I have been determined to get back to the weight I was before I started taking this medication but it seems impossible. I am eating less and trying to exercise more but this is difficult because another side effect I suffer is extreme tiredness. I also seem to get a distended stomach which gets worse as the day progresses. I feel like I am half the person I was before taking this medication in terms of the energy I have and feel exhausted a lot of the time. I've practically given up doing the exercise classes I used to do but still do a lot of walking. I am a few pounds heavier than I was originally and am working hard to prevent myself from putting on more weight. It's all making me feel quite depressed so I have asked my GP to re-refer me back to the cardiologist for his opinion.
for anyone just starting to take bisoprolol, please hang on in there! I have been taking 5mg now for 2 years, when I started, I felt so so tired, hard to get out bed. consultant explained, because my heart would be slowing down, this is normal, but . . . after 6 months I started to feel much better. this is because the heart will become stronger eventually due to the help of bisoprolol. the worst thing for me has been thinning hair, small cost to pay I guess, as still alive and kicking!
Hi , I'm on concor 2.5mg for about 1.5 month because of sudden increase of my blood pressure, then my neurologist prescribed inderal for me instead of concor, he said this increase in B.P is due to anxiety & some panic attacks. Can you please tell me how to take inderol , I mean no problem to take inderal the next dose instead of concor , or should I decrease concor gradually then start with inderal 10 mg.Thanks in advance.
I could use some advice. I recently turned 55 and about 2 years ago I found out that I had psvt (heart rate elevated to 237 bpm in less than 5 mins on the treadmill in a stress test) Anyway, it has kept the rapid and irregular heartbeat to a minimum but at a price. I had thought it was just me when I started losing hair. I'm not just losing hair but it's so much thinner I can comb it with a fine tooth comb. I have also put on 15 lbs. I have worked out and walked all of my life and don't even have a weigh scale as my weight has never been much of an issue. Suddenly, hair loss, vision is worse, teeth are worse and I'm feeling very very down. I was basically told that bisoprolol fumerate? was best for me as it has the least amount of side effects and when I mentioned to the cardiologist that I was concerned about my recent weight gain he just stated the obvious, that I consumed to many calories and didn't work out enough. So, I get that I am in menopause etc., but I do know what's normal for me and what isn't and this is NOT normal. I am taking a half a tab daily which amounts to 2.5 mg approx. Is there ANYTHING I can take other than this drug that has less side effects? I am so not myself these days.
ihave gained about about 2 st since taking thes tabs in the last year , i really need an alternetive, as anyone else has weight problems with this med
i started on this drug 9 months ago and tho it made me feel a little better it also ruined my life ,i was put on it for years of svt and 30 hour palputations im not going to lie but at first it was brill ,but then i couldnt sleep, and i became ratty and was more less worrid about the way i acted or things iv said (i have not bein on any other drug while taken this)then came the hair loss it sooo bad clumps every day,i told my self it will get better ,and being a 25 year old marrid women my hair means every think ,it was soo long and thick ,i kept saying it to heart doct and she shruged it off given me iron pills. they did not work and i have spent hours and weeks serching the net and its a common thing for a beta blocker to cause hairloss ,i nver thought it would be over half my hair !!!!,so to cut a long story short i changed my doctor and got a fab one and couldnt be sorry enough and gave me more pills ,but when i serch the new ones they cause rappid weight gain i though u gotta be kidding me they want me to gain weight and have no hair (ha ha ) so after talking to the hubby 1 dec i half my pills i was only on 5mg (dont seem alot ) to 2.5 and on xmas day was the last on i took !! its been 2 weeks and my hair wots left of it is stil faling .i havent brushed it in 6months !!! i know alot of pepole mite say they have had no problems ans there will be people that have sooo plzzz if anybody had hair loss and stop taken this drug ,did ur hair even grow back and stop falling out as i could really do with some one to talk to about this :(( ps i was on the drug 9 months
