Chantix....lobotomy By Mouth....

'm 54 yr. old, happily married (35 yrs.), mother of 2, proud na na of 6 and love my job of 22 years...

Wanted to put tobacco to rest (smoked 4 to 6 cigs per day)...almost put mySELF to rest!

Two completed Chantix prescriptions between Oct. '06 and Oct. '07. Two hospital stays in 2008.

Jan. '08 - - taken by ambulance w/severe chest pains, put on oxygen and morphine for severe headaches and chest pain while in hospital. Stayed a week...underwent every text possible. Released with diagnosis...possible virus???

May 24, '08 - - took a ride to rural area, took over 240 sleeping pills and cut self w/mini-diabetic razors purchased at Walgreens. Have NO IDEA why I bought those!

Woke up six days later surrounded by family in ICU. Was given last rites while on a ventilator. Spent time in psyche unit.

I didn't know why or how I could've done such a thing. Was ostracized by all. Oct. '08, my mom started sending me negative articles regarding Chantix. She was the only person who knew I was on Chantix. I was a closet smoker.

It took me awhile to start researching the connection...but when I did...I can't tell you how thrilled I was to read I was not alone!!! All I want back is my credibility....and dignity.

Wow! I am so very sorry! That is horrible! How are you doing, now?

5 to 6 cigarettes a day is not a lot and usually should not warrant a medication, such as Chantix, since it does carry the risk of causing depression, and suicidal thoughts, according to FDA warnings.

Are you on any other medications?

What do you consider to be diabetic razors? Have you consulted a counselor?
