Can I Use Methadone To Get Off Of Percocets?

I take about 150mgs of percocet 30mgs a day and I want to know if I take methadone will it help with the withdrawal & shakes of the stopping the percocet dose every day?

I have used methadone to come off of percocets before, but it was at a way lower dose.. I know suboxone's what is recommended but from what I'm told at my dose methadone is stronger if I use it right.

I took my last 10 mg Percocet earlier today. My Dr. changed me over to methadone 10 mg. It has been 4 hours since I took the Percocet and I just now took a methadone. Is this ok?

I'm on 80mgs of oxy, 1mg of klonopin and 20mg of methadone a day and have been for a few years. I only take the benzo if needed due to the fact I hate taking something I really don't need and don't want my body to be dependent on another drug. We are all slaves to The pharmaceutical companies. They're the reason why marijuana is illegal. You don't go through withdrawals when getting off marijuana like oxys. They make the pills like that so you keep taking them.

Methadone saved my life. I had a bad opiate addiction and went on methadone for 7 yrs in which time i never touched another drug. Suboxone or subutex never helped my addiction. I started at 15mg and got up to 130 mg. I was ready to get off completely and tapered down to 5 MG verryyy slowly and then got off completely with no withdrawal except a little anxiety and insomia. Reading all the negative posts will litterally put you in withdrawal as it did me. Methadone is a miracle drug if you do it the right way.

Hi steve. Could you give me specific info of your 6 day program using liquid methadone?
I have 10MG methadone and wanted to know how many mgs used each day and how often each day. So I can follow the same regimend since it works so well for you . I was on daily 60MG percocets For one year. either I'm going to try the methadone way or try suboxone for 3 to 4 days

It will help but I would taper off the methadone slower and I'm speaking from experience. Good luck

Try to go 2 days without taking any percs. On day 3 take a 8 milligram sub and you should feel fine for another 2-3 days. After That reduce it to 4 milligrams and you should be completely fine. You can also take an anti diarrhea pill to skip the "runs" phase all together. I detoxed 3 times and I was trying to avoid the suboxen because I thought that it would re-set my symptoms; thought I would start detoxing from the subs, but it doesn't. I was taking 90 milligrams a day and 4 days out of the week I was mixing it with xanax. Just tough it out for 2 days, take a sub and an anti-diarreah pill and you'll be fine.

I have been taking Methadone for years. I am trying to taper off by myself. I'm down to 2.5mg in the pm only but I can't sleep anymore. I take Clonasepam, benadryl and a Percocet to get to sleep. I feel very sweaty and nervous before I go to bed. Anyone have any suggestions. I really don't like to take the Percocet at night. I feel as if I am trading one bad pain med for another.

Hi new here this is my delema I have been st using 20 5/325 perc a day + my script otc is 4 x3mg hydromorphone + 8 mg diladed sometimes I go without and sub methadone when I gobble up my script early my starting this was pancreatitis 3 months in hospital what would you guys think I should do as my. I think I will be cut off soon as I had to provide a urin sample (d test). If I go to a methadone clinic how much should I ask that I be started out at??

It will be worse but that however was my case honestly if u could do subs do them i was takin methadone and i had to get a trachostomy cause i went into respiratory failure and i was perfectly health i hope u choose what's best for u and good luck i hope my story helped

i am taking just 10 mg methadone for one day to prevent wd from oxycodone until i get my prescription filled tomorrow. is that ok fot one day? i am over 60 yrs old

Hi was reading your thead about detoxing with methadone.I was prescribed 30 mg oxycodone have severe back problems,now I have a whole new problem addicted to these damn things! Was wondering how much methadone I would need in place of the oxy so as not to withdraw??? I really want off them and wanted to try the meth route.. Sad to say it is ruining me..I rather suffer with my pain them depend on the pain meds anyone out there to guide me?

I was taking 30 vicodin a day. I go to a methadone clinic. I'm at 150mg per day and it helps great. it doesn't make me feel high. I don't nod. I'm just normal all day. it just depends in ur body. I would try 60 to 75 mg to last ya.

you will not feel the 60 mg's of oxy if you took 30mg of methadone. either wait at least 24 hrs or just dont be high, its prob f***ing up your life anyways hence why your on the methadone, right?

I was put on methadone recently for pain. If I was using to get off oxys I would start off with a low dose if thats enough go from 10 to 15 till you get a daily dose that will work. Take 10mg up it 5mg untill it works for you. Be carefull the half life is about 230hrs thats ehat the doc says. Which is why you od you dont feel the dose from yesterday but its dtill being processed in your body. Methadone isnt like oxys ehere you double your no4mal dose to get a good buzz. Respect it and be vary carefull. I take oxys too and its a lot easier not taking the oxys if I just take the methsdone.

I was started out at 10mg a day and as I got usedvto the meds the dose was increased. In your case do the ssme thing but increase untill you grt to a point ehere you can function without getting high. If your buzzed your taking to much. This is a very addictive drug and you dont want to transfer your addiction to methadone it is a way worse to be addicted to than oxys or other short acting pain pills.

I need someone to talk to to help me get off tabs. I take 6 10mg a day and I can't do this anymore. I can't afford to be sick and in my bed for 2 weeks. I was told I can take methadones and still be able to get out of my bed. Can someone tell me if this will work, if I'm still able to get up and how many I'm gonna need to be okay.

Just so you know it is NOT safe to take benzos with methadone either because both slow your heart rate and it could be fatal to you. but methadone will help you get off any drugs you might be on now including benzos ..

I had been taking 6-8 30 mg percs daily recreationally and decided I had to quit, and fast. You know, like ripping off a bandaid I assume, at least for me, it seems easier to get it over with fast.
I decided to taper off using methadone. I've tried the suboxone but I hated the feeling and I NEVER want to try cold turkey again. The first three days I took 30 mg of methadone, then three days of 20 mg. days 7-9 I did 15 mg then dropped to 10 mg. always in the morning and sometimes adding a few Tylenol for headaches. I felt a lot better when I drank lots of water and I could go about my daily chores. I am currently on my third day of taking nothing at all. I'm still waiting for some kind of real pain unlike the tiredness I have been feeling, but the longer times goes by, the more I realize this could be it. I just may have tamed the beast so to speak. I already feel so much clearer. Just want anyone who wonders to know that it IS possible to quit without going through withdrawal
This experience does not have to be kafkaesque.

You can use methadone to taper off Percocet .oxy,s ext .... I was taking 10 tablets of80mg oxy,s for years .... Unroll I was always sick and needing more .... 800 mg a day was tottaly ridiculous. I went on methadone and have been on it for a few years .... I was taking about 160 mg a day of methadone when I started to feel ok .... They start you at a low dose so as not to risk overdosing you ... I I stayed at 160 for a while till I felt ok to taper off ... I've been tapering off at 5mg a week and stoping the taper when I needed a extra week to feel ok with it... I se em to noticet eth taper the more sometimes then others . I'm down to 30 mg now and still doing well . I hope the info helps... Good luck
