Best Norco Brand (Page 2) (Top voted first)
UpdatedHi, i get the yellow norco pill with a cursive v and 3601 on the back. Is there a better brand?
Re: Betty (# 47)
I agree... I feel like dying. My pain is so bad. I did find out that Par pharmacy bought Qualitest out - the company that was making the yellow ones. Par is the one who makes my generic provigal (modafinal). Tell your pharmacy you want them to order from Par or contact Par pharmacy yourself and find out because pharmacies go through a middleman; so they can't buy from Par. But trust me these white ones are CRAP and worthless. They don't help. This is how the government is fighting the opioid war. Sell the good people junk so we suffer. It's so wrong.
Re: Shari from Indiana (# 14)
Shari, I live in Idaho, over 9 years ago i started having difficulty with my neck, shoulders, wrists and mostly my back, i talked to my doctor and she said i was probably just getting arthritis and started taking naproxen. I worked pretty hard most of my life, single parent, and took care of an acre of land and home on my own. I. 58 now. As the next couple of years i seemed to get worse, especially my lower back so my doctor sent me to have an MRI done. Well it seemed i was suffering with spinal stenosis, degenerative bone disease and lots of arthritis throught my whole body. Also bulging discs, and the spongy stuff between discs were drying up, causing my spine to be bone on bone all between L1 to L5. Also have Siatic Nerve damage down my left leg. For the past 6 years i have been taking Hydrocodone Acetaminophen 10/325. I have had all different brands depending on pharmacys. I used to use Albertsons for everything for years, and in the begin ing they carried the Yellow Watson Brand. After about a year, they changed, and began using the while kind of flat looking generic brand called mallinckrodt brand. Those were terrible, upset my stomach, irritability, no pain relief. At first i spoke to Albertsons buyer in corporate office, and they had them special order the Watson brand for me, that lasted about 6 months. And bless their hearts a letter to me stating that Watson has changed thier company and are no longer manufacturing that specific brand, they are manufacturing a new brand that is the same just buying their chemicals from a company, and the Yellow ones will no long be processed, they will be replaced by the White Watsons, which is more cost-effective, and will save the consumer money.....Well, they sure did change! And not in a good way. So I changed pharmacies. No one was caring the Watson brand, only the new one, yet, i did some research. The top Manufactures of Norco, (Hydrocodone Acetaminophen, in 5/325, 7.5/325 and 10/325) is Watson (White 853) mallinckrodt brand, (mostly generic) and i found Qualitiest made in yellow, V on one side and 36 01 on the other. These i tell you are the same as the Yellow Watson brand.
You have the right to ask you pharmacist if they carry the "Qualitiest" Norco, if they say no, ask if they can please have them special ordered, if they say no, look up the number for their corporate office for the pharmacy ask to speak to the buyer for your pharmacy, explain why your husband needs that brand, and maybe they will special order them. I do know here in Idaho Walgreens here in my town carry them, some dont, but the buyer is workable if the pharmacist isnt. Some of your smaller homegrown pharmacies carry that brand as well. See, big corporation pharmacies vuy the cheaper brands to save them money and sell them at high prices, just like a dealer would! And they wonder why there is a opiate problem in America! Drug dealers started that with bad doctors, or doctors that work with drug dealers to make money. Not people like your husband and I who have life long chronic legitimate pain problems and must take pain pills through strick pain management doctors, who know our medical problem, see that we are in compliance, are not abusing or selling our medications and have to be able to function on this life. Now laws will be getting even more intense as i watch the news, i go to physical therapy 2 times a week, get shots in my leg every 3 to 4 months, had been getting the shots in my back yet that was not working for me. I am now down to facing surgery for the back issues and that scares me to death, and everyone i know who had surgery for the same things i have still have to do pain management. Rheumatoid arthritis, the kind your husband has is the same i have, very painful and very hard to move, the physical therapy helps, yet without my medication, im useless. Yet please try and get the Qualitiest brand, it is the best out there now for Norco out of all the different manufacturers. I wish you all the best, and remember, you have the right to ask pharmacies to special order from their corporation too. No matter what they think, the more you do your homework and know what your talking about, they will see you differently! Sincerely! Allison, in Idaho.
Re: Shari from Indiana (# 14)
I agree with what you say but we have to start to take action against the government and all these clowns who never lived with pain. As I always believe pain is real and cures aren't. I would like to talk to you. You won't believe what I have gone through. Thanks. {edited for privacy}
Re: Star Child (# 56)
Honey, I understand! You got to do what is best for You! Trust me, I worry too about what the future holds for me! I too am taking other medications for Mental disorders too, Bipolar, PTSD, Anxiety. Having physical problems too does not help these problems either! Having to go to physical therapy, doctor appts, and psychiatrist appts every month, week, etc, keeps my plate full. Dont know how long that will last. I can tell you when I am in pain, I can't make it to any of these appts. So having a pain medication that does work, is important to me. Those that dont work, makes me as useless as the product thier trying to push on me! So I make sure my pharmacy carries the brand Qualitiest, that works for my pain, for now. My problem is degenerative, so like I said, dont know how long I get to enjoy what little I can do right now, before I am forced to make a decision of having surgery, which scares me to death. No one I know has done well after back surgery, and I mean no one. So bless your heart girl!
Re: Lupus (# 66)
I totally understand the frustrations! These changes of manufacturers selling to other manufacturers who change the compound of the products that work to junk! The retailers who choose to purchase the less expenses products they force upon the consumer (you and all of us who suffer from chronic pain) without a choice! Just to make a profit! Don't care that the product works or not! Like the product that seems to be taking over all areas and pharmacies called Malikroft, the white ones stamped either M365 or M367 which is 5/325 or 10/325. Complete junk! The brand Qualitiest, Yellow stamped V one side 36 01 other side, which is the o my product I will use, thanking God that my local Walgreens still carries it other than the White generic Watson, in which I find as another product that does not work well. My chart at pharmacy states only give "Qualitiest" and that my friend took a lot of complaining at first, calls to the buyer for our local pharmacy and a notice from my doctor. (Pain Specialist) Also filing complaints with FDA regarding bad drugs for the Malikroft brand being forced to purchase! As long as the pharmaceutical company continues to make the Qualitiest Brand, my pharmacy will continue to purchase them, as I am not the only customer who has complained to thier corporation regarding this!
The more we complain, report, pester the company buyers, letters work best for future reference! The better luck we may have to get Companys/Pharmacies understand we are true pain patients who have rights! Not junkies, or drug dealers! And if they want to keep our business, they need to purchase products that work, or they too can be reported for selling products that are not good for human consumption! I get all the back up I can, starting with a long talk with my pain doctor, and a note from them staying only a certain brand is all I can take! If doctor says so, then insurance, no matter who has to authorize!! There is no more "Original non generic Norco brand" anymore! All of them are generic, yet only we who are having to take these meds know what works and what doesn't, so that being said, Insurance covers all generic brands. Which leaves it up to the pharmacy company to purchase the one that works, then you will see if they care about thier customers, or the money! Thier refusal is another tool to add to your arsenal of proof for the FDA. The more each person starts taking on the big companies who claim they don't purchase or cant purchase the brand you need, and writes them letting them know you are going to report them to the FDA for forcing or product that does not work on you, the more we might get something changed To go our way! Guarantee it!!
the "yellow 7,5 mg E.S Hydrocodone thAT "qualitest" makes are prob. my fav, ( since i just got outta LC break surgery where they put a 3mm. by about 2-inches long SGTEEL=PLATE PUT IN. )& im moving back to FT. Collins Colorado my ortho Surgeon gave me one last script dinc he wont be my Dr. any More. was happy top get em 2day!! it'll help me fot my 1st few weel\ks out there while i do Physical labot out hre @ st.. its a blessing>
I have been on Norco 10's for several years, so I have had many generics. By far the best ones are the yellow ones from Qualitest and CVS carries those. The worst, and ones that do not work for me are the ones that have the M in Front of the number . They are made by Mallinkroft.
What pharmacy carries the Watson are the yellow ones
Re: Raquel (# 28)
Kaiser just switched to the Mallinckrodt brand and they don't relieve my pain. They were filling with yellow Qualitest which worked! Which pharmacy carries Qualitest yellow??
Re: Shari from Indiana (# 14)
I am having the same problem with my pain medicine. I have been getting a pinkish orange color of my hydrocodone-apap for years and now all I can get is a white pill that is ineffective and I am told that the ones I have been taking are no longer available. I would like to know why as they were actually working. Could someone tell me why they are no longer available.
Re: conan (# 8)
They have them. You just have to be willing to spend some time looking up Pharmacies in your area and calling every one of them and asking what brand they carry. I found a privately owned one by a husband and wife who carry them and I just found out that there's a clinic my friend goes to. You can also do mail order, I think through the exact company that you want but I can't remember so u would have to call and ask, but I've done that before too and it works the same. So they do still make the yellows. They aren't gone but most pharmacies have gotten hella cheap and just care about making money and if you call their corporate office/customer service hotline they will figure out how to special order it for you because they can do it. They just say they can't because they assume everyone that picks them up is a "junkie" and/or is selling them and they know that "brand" is more popular. But for real, for those of us the really do use it, I broke my back in a car accident, my whole life I've been sensitive to medication and I've had the same problem with the white norcos brand m367 and my doc had to prescribe me nausea meds cuz of it till I could find a different brand. It was ridiculous.
I have been on 10s as well as zohydro 30mg for years. Thier is a huge difference in the plain white generic and Watson or the yellow. Don't be afraid to ask the pharmacy what they have. You are a paying customer. I know who has what and were in my area. CVS has yellows, Walgreens has Watson's. I stick to them. Docs also has yellow. When I asked CVS the woman showed me in her hand what she had. I have never felt ashamed. I have chronic pain and I know what works best before a pill counter would.
Re: robert (# 49)
File complaints with the FDA. Some pharmacies get different generic Norco from month to month, what ever is the cheapest from their distributor.. It's not about what's best for healthcare, it all about profits ..and getting worse....
Re: Marc (# 50)
I was told by my pharmacist that they don't have a choice anymore, here in South Carolina. They have one kind and are not allowed to get any other. I'm good friends with my pharmacist. He would not lie. The government is doing this. I can't believe I have to suffer because of a bunch of druggies. This is supposed to narrow it down to who is selling them while the rest of us suffer in pain. I have severe rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, fibromyalgia, my list is so long I'm about ready to just go to the hospital every day and tell them to take my pills and give me a shot for pain every day. I can't take the pain. These pills they are giving are worthless, it's like forgetting to take it. So that tells me there is nothing in it. If I ever see or hear of anyone selling pills I'm going to flip out on them because they caused this. Not us, the people that have severe pain.
Re: Trendab (# 52)
I use the brand called Qualitest. Google them. You can ask your pharmacy if they can order them or call the pharmacy headquarters and plea with them to special order them for your pharmacy. Contact the manufacturer themselves to see who they do business with in your area. They are yellow, V on one side and numbers on the other. I use 10/325 for spinal stenosis, sciatica, bulging discs and a ton of arthritis. I also go to physical therapy twice a week. I am in compliance as a pain patient with my pain clinic, they know I am not an abuser, or a person who sells my pills. I take them as prescribed so I can manage to move and take care of my life. I am a patient with rights and have built a great respite with my pharmacist who understands my concerns with other medications that dont work long term, make me sick to my stomach and just are not made to work! They know the difference in their customers, but it's really out of their control when it comes to what their corporations buy to save money. But the more real pain patients express their concerns, the more their corporations realize that they will lose business if they don't help provide a choice. Be your own rep! And keep pushing on!
Re: conan (# 8)
I know. Watson 10/325 was best for me as well. I have a spine that’s rapidly declining, and I can’t face another surgery right now. What pharmacies have good generic Norco. Do you know?
Re: Allison (# 53)
Bless you for your kind and helpful note. Physical therapy does help, but I no longer drive due to being on many medications. I couldn’t bear it if I hurt someone. Thank you also for info on Qualitest.
Re: k (# 4)

It's Watson853 honey.
I agree. Dont know what can be done at this point.
