UpdatedMy spouse has tried both bp meds. The benicar is u much better med than thr loristatin. Benicar works very well. The loriststin just doesn't work @ all. The benicaris much more expensive but what's the point if you get something that doesn't even work. We will stay with benicar. Thank you??

Has anyone else experienced severe cramps and Charlie horses while taking benicar hct ?
Benicar contains the active ingredient Olmesartan, it is most commonly used to treat hypertension, and certain cardiac conditions. Its typical side effects may include nausea, dizziness, headache, increased urination, and hypotension.
However, there is no medication available under the name Loristatin. There is Losartan, which is another medication used to treat hypertension, and Lovastatin, which is used to help lower cholesterol. Could one of these be the one you are referring to?
Not all medications work for everyone that tries them, so that is normal, and they should stick with the one that works, unless their doctors feels there is some need to change their medication
Sasquatch, Benicar HCT contains Olmesartan with Hydrochlorothiazide, the latter of which is a diuretic that is used to remove excess fluid from the body to treat hypertension, edema, and some cardiac conditions, such as congestive heart failure.
Since it is a diuretic, there are several reasons you might be experiencing these issues, you might be dehydrated, if it is removing too much fluid from your body, your potassium might be too low; since it also depletes that, or it could be a combination of both.
Have you consulted your doctor? They should be able to help you discover the cause of your problems.
