Zydus 10mg Oxycodone Underdosed? (Page 2) (Top voted first)

Hello all. For the last 6 months, i've been prescribed various meds/treatments/pain meds for severe head pressure and neck pain. I had to stop taking any form of Hydrocodone because it makes my skin breakout in open sores (gross, i know). On May 6th, my PCP prescribed me Oxycodone 10mg 4times daily with great results and it made me very fuctional. He gave me another script for the same medication and when i went to the pharmacy, they filled it and when i got home, i notices the tablets/drug company was different. Well, was i in for a suprise. The new generics my pharmacy had were made by Zydus Pharmaceuticals and are imported from India? Well, to say the least, i've been taking almost twice my dosage to get the same effect. There's no way on earth that my tolerance doubled in less than a day! Now, my PCP thinks i'm trying to get more pills, and the pharmacy thinks i'm crazy. The first prescrption i got the 10mg oxycodone from this manufacturer: KVK Tech Inc (pink and "k 56" imprint on them. And they worked fabulous. These Zydus ones seem wayyyy underdosed as i'm taking around 5-6 tabs compared to 4 tabs of the KVK Tech brand. Any info/advice is greatly appreciated!

I notice that np12 are terrible also i am taking 10/325 brand as comparison.

NP12 is Zydus brand 10mg oxycodone which in my opinion and that of others on this blog is way underdosed

Tell your pharmacy you have to have the better brand of oxy. I do that and my doc agrees. Tell your doc you want to switch back and to write the brand on your script. My doc does that and i looked around for a pharmacy that would fill that for me with the brand i like. You don't have to have the doc write the company name on the script but it helps. The pharmacy can special order for you that brand if they are willing.

I take 4 10mg a day. I just filled my script today (12/03/2014). Took this little NP12 pill an no relief. As I'm doing more research it seems ALOT of people are having this problem.

Get this everyone, I've been on oxycodone for quite some time because I've had 3 hip sugeries in 2 years. I picked up my script but from Walmart this time and I took just 1 dose and and an hour later it wasn't doing anything and I then became supious, and I searched the difference between manufacturers and that's how I ended up here. I had been taking the ones made by KVD which I was getting at the Target pharmacy, now Walmart gave me the ones by Zydus. I don't know what I'm going to do for the next 2 weeks?? I will never get the Zydus again. I swear, Walmart could care less about the customer it's only what they can put in there pocket! Needless to say I'm pissed!

Hopefully I'm not sharing info that someone else has already, but Zydus is just a replacement name for the extremely shyte Ethex brand that was shutdown by the FDA several years ago. The tablet shapes, colors, texture, etc is pretty much the same other than the actual imprint.
If you search it you will find that Zydus or there parent company bought all the facilities, patents, FDA approvals, etc that was once owned by Ethex. Check it out, inform yourself.

ZYDUS IS GARBAGE JUST LIKE ETHEX WAS!!!!!

Wow I decided to check into this because I had the suspicion that something was off about this brand of Oxycodone. This Zydus brand is an absolute joke. How the hell can these still be on the market? Everywhere I've looked I see people confirming that they are not effective at all and if we try to say something about it to our PCP or pharmacy they look at us like we're drug abusing criminals. I know there's problems out there concerning Narcotic pain medication but those of us with real pain are having to deal with so much BS just to be able to function normally. Anyone know of any legal suits against Zydus? If not there damn well should be...

I just wanted to chime in about the Zydus brand Oxycodone 15mg;
I looked it up because I noticed right off that it is weak.
I won't go into my history too much but my lower back is worst case scenario. -multiple back surgeries blah blah blah. I've been taking Oxycodone since 2001. The medicine has always worked......until recently I was given the crappy Zydus brand.
The Zydus brand is a joke. It does not touch the pain whereas the other brands work fine. At times, it seems I am withdrawing and have had no medication at all.
I've coined it: "Zydus-itis".

I could not agree more with your statement. I have known many Indian businessmen and they are all about profit not quality. They employ their countrymen for pennies and the working conditions are squalid.

I am in the exact same boat. I'm sick of people calling chronic pain sufferers drug addicts. I too notice a DRASTIC DIFFERENCE between these same manufacturers. I thought I was building a tolerance, but when I took 2 different brands in the same day and the new bottle kicked back my pain far better & much longer (even though both are IR). People that say "there's no difference" may not take them as regularly if at all, or do not suffer from pain that literally NEVER goes away (or has good days & bad days). My pain is the same every day and never goes away. Only alleviated with pain meds. I notice a difference immediately. Zydus is absolute crap. Very inconsistent in texture even. Some are very hard while others are complete mush and they leave behind a dust film & stink. The kvk-t on the other hand may not be superior to say, Watson (which is what I started with years ago) but they are by far more consistent than the Zydus garbage. I keep complaining to my pharmacy but they ignore me, treat me like an addict and tell me I'm the only one to complain. I know that can't be true. For people that say generics are all the same, no way are they even close to the same. (Why did my mother have a MAJOR MEASURABLE DIFFERENCE in her blood pressure just couple days after her generic pills were switched? As if she had taken nothing at all?) While they are SUPPOSED to be the same, NO, they are NOT the same at all.

(BTW, I take the 20mg version. It's not limited to a particular dose, it's the company.)

You're NOT crazy!!!! I feel the same way, that's what lead me here! To see if there were any complaints!!! I guess the only thing to do is actually file a complaint with the FDA? And ask the pharmacy u go to how to do the same so they don't order? Oh and u can ask ur dr to request on ur script, whatever brand worked for u. Then ask ahead of time what pharmacy has that brand in stock!! They just buy from who ever's the cheapest!!! I used Mallinckrodt brand but now I'm not even sure about them!!! This is BULL CRAP, no one cares or monitors this crap!! I'm feeling really lousy on Zydus brand pharmaceutical, so never get those!!

I was on those for a few months, when I moved to another state and got a new doctor he changed my dose to 15mg, I noticed immediately how weak the zydus were in comparison to the new generic. If you look up zydus on the consumer affairs site, there are complaints on every single drug they make. They might as well be counterfeit in my opinion, try another pharmacy and ask which generic they stock. Zydus is garbage and should be shut down.

I have had to deal with Zydus but luckily my pharmacy took my complaint seriously and they ordered the my pain medication from the former drug manufacturer., I have been on my pain medication for 10 years so it was very noticeable when my pain increased.Zydus has a lot of bad write ups and I let my doctor know the same time I let my pharmacist know..

Yes I'm having the same problem. They don't work at all for me. Rite aid only carries the Zydus brand . It's time to change pharmacies.

I hope the following information is helpful. There are certain generic drugs that are problematic. In your case oxycodone immediate release10 mg tablets, aka. R-Oxycodone. The following 3 generics are the top brands. 1) malincrodot (M on one side and # 10,15 or 30 on the other) are the best. 2) KV tech. 3) actavis. Are all superior to the remaining companies. The majority of physicians and pharmacists that say otherwise are either ignorant, to this fact, or actually lying to you. My advice to you is to request one of the aforementioned 3 companies when filling your Oxycodone tablets. There's several pharmacies that you can choose from! Just ask the pharmacy technician what company you are buying your medicine from. When you do this - try not to raise a red flag. You have the right to know what company is manufacturing the drugs you are taking! I always ask and when they respond with a question instead of an answer. Just tell them that my doctor told me to avoid certain generic manufacturers. Then add: "I like to know what company I am entrusting with my health/life and it's my right as a consumer to know." Be wise and then tell them this. If the generics are the same...then why the F*** are they so much cheaper!?? Think about it? Also, there are so many different companies and if they're all the same: why does my price always change when I get a new version? It's true! Every generic drug is sold at a different price. Please post the results. I just noticed the different manufacture on my 10 MG from KVK-T to ZYDUS. Pharmacist had a casual response when I inquired. Not sure what to think.

I always have used the same pharmacy for the last 10 years.. So when I got my morphines filled I learned to look at the paper stapled to my bag that plainly tells you the drug manufacturer on it.. And since I discussed it with the pharmacy manager whom I will say is the nicest man I have ever met!! He informed me to read up on Zydus and that's how I found out that they had been shut down several times and once again they are open and that most pharmacies use Zydus because of their cheap prices on narcotics.. So all I can offer for advice is read the paper that is stapled to your bag or inside your bag before you walk away from your pharmacy counter.. You can refuse that brand, it is within your rights to do so.. My pharmacist no longer orders Zydus brand of anything because of the amount of complaints that were received..If the pharmacist tries to tell you otherwise go somewhere else.. But you can always call ahead and tell the pharmacy what your medication is and ask what drug manufacturer they use!!! But plz read up on Zydus, they should not be allowed to be open after being closed so many times for the same reason!! I don't understand that at all!! But I thank god that I have a good relationship with my pharmacy and my pharmacist and all the pharmacy techs that work there... If this is still going on with anyone of you I wish you the best and I hope you are able to get your medications and that they work the way they are supposed too!! This Zydus company should be closed down FOREVER!!!!

Don't care if your a pharmacist or not, you obviously do not take these pills or else you would know. It's def not mind over matter. These zydus pills are absolutely filled with fillers and binders. I know every brand has fillers and binders in them but, this brand has alot more. It's normal to get a little bit of pill that is not water soluble but not the amount that are in these zydus pills. They are absolutely crap. Thanks for your input, but it's honestly absolutely useless. Unless you are or have taken them, you have no right to be telling anybody it's MIND OVER MATTER. Typical, you may know alot about oxycodone and so on, but you have no first hand knowledge about how these pills or any pills for that matter actually manage pain and Compare to other brands.
