Zydus 10mg Oxycodone Underdosed? (Page 3) (Top voted first)

Hello all. For the last 6 months, i've been prescribed various meds/treatments/pain meds for severe head pressure and neck pain. I had to stop taking any form of Hydrocodone because it makes my skin breakout in open sores (gross, i know). On May 6th, my PCP prescribed me Oxycodone 10mg 4times daily with great results and it made me very fuctional. He gave me another script for the same medication and when i went to the pharmacy, they filled it and when i got home, i notices the tablets/drug company was different. Well, was i in for a suprise. The new generics my pharmacy had were made by Zydus Pharmaceuticals and are imported from India? Well, to say the least, i've been taking almost twice my dosage to get the same effect. There's no way on earth that my tolerance doubled in less than a day! Now, my PCP thinks i'm trying to get more pills, and the pharmacy thinks i'm crazy. The first prescrption i got the 10mg oxycodone from this manufacturer: KVK Tech Inc (pink and "k 56" imprint on them. And they worked fabulous. These Zydus ones seem wayyyy underdosed as i'm taking around 5-6 tabs compared to 4 tabs of the KVK Tech brand. Any info/advice is greatly appreciated!

Many Indian generics are garbage. The best Generics if You can get them come from the U.S. & the European Pharma industry. Just my opinion.

Hello. Like the others above, I too believe that zydus oxycodones are completely worthless. I have contacted the FDA and they encourage people with concerns to fill out an online Medwatch form. I urge all of you to do this. There are people suffering needlessly because of this and I fear that people will overdose because of this as well....because if it takes 3 or 4 of the Zydus duds to feel any pain relief...and the said person takes 3 or 4 of another manufacturer---then they will overdose.

I have been feeling much better (stomach wise) taking the zydus rather than taking other copycat brands.

Its nice to know i'm not the only one with this issue! Y'all wont believe what i had to do to get another script: i attempted suicide. It was a bulls*** attempt but it literall had to take those measures to get the doctor's frigging attention! Now, i'm in pain management, and i'm getting the 7.5mg oxycodones (4 tabs daily, sometimes need more), But i ALWAYS make sure to see what brand it is from now on. Either Qualitest, Mylan. If they dont have that brand, i go elsewhere. I'm not gonna EVER be forced to go thru what i went thru just because of some greedy pharmaceutical company's f*** up. I was told "there are better ways to get things done" Oh really? The doctors wouldnt even call me back, let alone continue my treament. So, i had to, theoretically speaking, set off an alarm. Because before that, nobody was bothering to help me. Now, they know not to screw around and not take my word for it. Sucks i had to do that, but hey, i got what i needed!

I just posted on a similar topic.. I knew I should have copy and saved it- as always- but forgot this time. You are right. I have had to do tis in the past with meds that were changed out (the MFR) between Rx refills)... the 10 mg ZYD Oxycodone is s*** (excuse me- but I am pissed off) 1/2 as strong as even the KVK everyone is complaining about. These 10mg ZYD pink, 12 on one side & an NP on the other should be OTC- I paid good money for these and they are junk. I have not developed a tolerance either- in the time frame I am speaking in regards to.. they simply do not work. No one at the FDA is watching over the Rx coming int this country- I know they are short handed and busy but this is ridiculous- it started with Clonozipam- mfr's changes as did the quality and working effects during the day.. I did go back to my Doc & gave back the Rx and he gave me another Rx and I promptly went to another Pharmacy- I have an excellent honest trusting relationship with my doc- never lied to him.. imagine that.. so when I tell him something he's no reason to disbelieve me.
A**hole Pharmacies. all in the name of saving US money- change manufacturer all the time- they don't realize the effects it has on patients when they do this- it is NOT just about the strength but the fillers are all different. Some do not even dissolve (ask any septic tank pumping guy.. he'll tell ya how many pills he gets that are NOT dissolved- and you cannot tell me they were dumped that morning before pumping! And it's BS to help us, the consumer, save $$$... it's about making them more money. Deep pockets, you get name brand meds- otherwise settle for the s***.

As far as Methadone- you were wondering about. It works well for weaning yourself off H. Clinics will allow you to request up or down in dose- though I hear it has become very expensive these days for even minimal regular maintenance- I would be careful.. the effects can range from hot flashes to aches and pains you never knew you had.. The reason? It is NOT the same methadone that clinics dose you with- the 20 mg orange-ish disckets. Not even close... the white aspirin looking 10 mg Methadone works but again, you may or may not develop a s***ty reaction... you could try them and see- for H weening- great! DO NOT take candy bars with Methadone! DO NOT... you know what I am speaking of... Xanax- don't do it. Liquid Hand-Cuffs- VERY tough to break.. But, if your goal is to stop the up and down roller coaster high, detox or take more, detox or take more- EVERY day- methadone might work for you. Two 60 mg time release MS Contins/day may be a good alternative for you.

I too have had the same exact problems hoping to get my pmdr to read some if these n rewrite me a new script I was supposed to have 20 mg but pharmacy was more than happy to double RX with zydus 10 mg gee do u think they know save mart RX

So my 10mg Oxycodone really has between 4 to 10 percent of oxycodone in each pill. So if it were on the high side (say 10 percent) then my 10mg oxycodone pill has 1 mg of oxycodone in it! I need a good pain doctor in Chicago area - please help!!

I was on thin ice with my doctor BEFORE I became a victim of this Zydus brand. For 5 years I haven't had any problems, but then twice in two months time I had issues resulting in replacing my meds!

I have always walked the straight and narrow with my meds, I have been really reliable.. But I was told that if anything else happens I am being cut off on the spot.

THEN I GET THIS AWFUL ZYDUS GENERIC. I took my 2.5 pills and it was like I didn't take anything at all. Half my pills are IR and half ER. Over the span of 12 hours I calculate that 10 pills are only as potent as MAYBE 2 pills, if that.

I called the pharmacy- they will not replace them. I even found a report that there are fake pain pills that end up being sold from pharmacies - many original pills are stolen, and an inferior if not placebo are put in its place. The DEA and FDA know about this but yet there is no recourse for victims to get replacement meds! My pain kept getting worse. I feel completely isolated and alone. My doctor had allowed me to take extra ER to cover for lack of IR in the past - so I decided to just bite the bullet and figure it out down the road - my pain was horrific (still is) and then I realized I only had a few left... There is no way I am going to make it to Friday. I don't think i'll make it to Monday to be honest.

I have never gotten the right dose, the doctors came up with an arbitrary number. I was told that I can take it or leave it, they will not titrate me to a true workable dose. I am not going to lie - I have a huge amount of mg's - but it never was enough to alleviate my pain properly.

I am tired of jumping through hoops, being treated as a drug addict, being in pain that I didn't even think was possible, I wish I had the balls to just kill myself. I have kids, i don't want to put them through losing their daddy. But they are young enough that they may not really remember me if I do....

I am just so damn tired of all this.

These bastards at Zydus should go through what we are going through.

Does anyone know a good pain doctor in the Chicago area?

I was prescribed the Zydus oxycodone 20 & no pain relief. I hope someone turns them in. I did talk with the pharmacy & I thought it was extended release & that was the reason I wasn't getting any relief at all. If it wasn't for the hydrocodone I would of died of pain. I'm so sick I can't function. I am miserable. This should be against the law what they've doing to people. I don't think there is any oxycodone in these pills. I'll report them if anyone knows where to have them evaluated I will. I've been on pain medication for 35 years & this is what happens to me cause my dr decided to change me to these 20's. I told the pharmacy they didn't work & he didn't offer to change them. My script is due again Monday & I don't know if I can go to a different pharmacy now cause they have my script on hold. Don't know what to do.

I recently been prescribed zydus brands and in 15 yrs that brand is the only one that makes my pain worse. I am in too much pain right now to even talk about it.

I have been taking oxycodone for over 15 years now due to a broken back in 3 places. My small hometown pharmacy now seems to never have the same brand. Every month i get a split brand day when I refill. I get 60 rhodes 20mg then they order the remaining 60 usually actavis (s***ty) or Sun Pharma or Zydus & Qualitest. Sometimes I get all 4 due to them just not having the stock. So I have taken all 4 of these brands and within a week apart and the two brands I swear by are Qualitest (but they no longer make 20mg fyi) and Zydus, the others are all s*** and I have to take double. I do not abuse my meds and take as directed but there is a tremendous difference in generics and the strengths. Had I not been subject to random and multiple brands over the past year I would say meds are meds but if that were the case why are brands so expensive? Answer- because of the quality of the active ingredient. Why are generics 90% cheaper? Answer- because of the quality of the active ingredient. The cheaper the generic the less effective it will be... Cheaper means stepped on to maximize profits so you get a lesser grade of product. Pharmaceutical companies are no more than drug dealers and generic companies are the low lever dealer with a more affordable product but less effective. End of story.

Chris, my attorney sent my samples of Zydus brand 10mg oxycodone to DYNALABS for a quantitative and qualitative analysis. He sent 10 pills. All Zydus pills that were evaluated had only 3-4 mgs not 10. He is looking into legal remedy.

I have been on morphine ER for 6 years and read with interest those who had been on the Zydus Oxycodone products and experiencing less relief. 7 months ago I received the first bottle of the Zydus brand and noticed less relief immediately. Knowing that the burden of proof is totally on the patient, I used them for that month with no support from the pharmacy or the physician. I met with the pharmacist and was told that they would see what they could do to order the morphine from Mallinckrodt or Endo Pharma. The pharmacy told me that corporate had decided that Zydus was the best deal for them basically telling me that if I didn't like it, I could go somewhere else. Problem was, there are two major drug chains controlling the retail pharmacy business where I live. I had to drive to another town, 70 miles one way, to find a store that provided a brand that wasn't Zydus. Now doing that caused 'red flags' against my name to appear. This got back to my physician and that caused even more complications. I explained to my physician that I was only trying to get a different generic brand for the pharmacies had not been interested in getting them for me. The physician called and was able to advocate for me. However, more often than not over the last 6 months, the drug store will not have it when I bring the monthly order to them. This has caused a great deal of pain, misery, loss of time from work, additional expense and frustration. What a scandalous breakdown of health services to a paying customer, it is shameful.

Go to a different pharmacy and hopefully you will get a different generic your so right on about theses I just picked up my script, have the exact same issue as you did,

My story is the same as yours! This month of January I was given Zydus brand Oxycodone and realized the difference immediately! I have Neuropathy in my feet and I have had to use more of the zydus brand to get relief. The good news is tomorrow I get a prescription refill and I am going to find a pharmacy that has the other brand!

Yes I agree with you on the underdose of Zydus brand of oxycodone. I went thru my prescription sooner than expected and had a very hard time with withdrawal. Kvk tech shd be the only brand used

Zydus is the worst medication that caused me extreme anguish. No pain relief in combination with fentanyl patch 25 mcg. With 10 mg and one half totaling 15mg oxy with fentanyl. First time with the Zydus I had terrible pain. Shoulder replacement on both. Either meds and replacement or just meds. At 64 years working as a carpenter, for 43 years my shoulder cuffs are destroyed. Zydus caused no relief. It is a criminal Hindu run company based out of Pennington, NJ. These people should be punished. I could not believe a company is worse than a ghetto dealer and is licensed to sell you fake watered down crap.

These are no longer made in India they are made under contract by Nesher Pharmaceuticals USA in Earth City, Missouri. A lab in the United States will always have strict quality control and is obviously FDA approved and tested. Given this new information and how strict US labs are, I'm sure that they contain the correct amount of oxycodone and they should be on the same level of effectiveness as any other brand. I can say they definitely work fine for me. I believe they previously were made overseas but that is no longer the case. Also if you are every not satisfied with any new brand of drug that you pick up at the pharmacy the only way to replace it with a different one is to ask your doctor for a new prescription in exchange for the unused pills. Then find a different pharmacy that carries your preferred brand. The original pharmacy will never take medications back to give you new ones because they cannot sell them again because it is a safety risk (they could be fake, contaminated, tampered with etc...) Once they leave the pharmacy they can't accept them back.

PS. If your doctor does give you a new prescription, you may have to have him call the pharmacy/insurance company to let them know about the circumstances if you want to have any chance of having them covered by insurance. They already paid for the original prescription and it will probably require some kind of override. Also due to oxycodone being a highly controlled substance, the pharmacy will probably see the first prescription being picked up by you in the state database that they access to make sure people aren't seeing more than one doctor and trying to get more of this medication than they are supposed to. When they see that they will tell you that it's too early you just got it filled. The pharmacist will have to put in their own override. That is why it is extremely important that your doctor talks to both the pharmacist and the insurance company as i said above. Following the above steps will keep you from running into problems and wasting a lot of time. Hope this helps.

I would love I see their clinical trials. FDA needs to stop this med from entering the US! I have been in Oxycodone for 6 months due to my back being mangled...I took one pill and noticed how much I started itching... Thought maybe something else, dry skin... Whatever.. Took my next dose... Noticed red welts ! Never again. Gotta see Dr tomorrow to see what she can do about exchanging these meds. I looked at all the crap they put in their meds... Unbelievable!
