Zolpidem Generic (Page 7) (Top voted first)

Updated

ALL CVS pharmacies just changed the zolpidem from MYLAN manufacturer (out of PA) to TORRENT in India. Because generics can certain behave differently, I am nervous about taking the (10 mg) oblong peach Torrent brand one after reading some things online. I also don't like the idea of CVS using from out of the country manufacturer which HAS to be due to a better price because MYLAN brand is still very readily available. Any comments?

THAT is precisely the same generic I have been getting from CVS, from a Manufacturer in India called Aurobindo. White, Oblong. E on one side, 79 on the other. And it has consistently worked well for me.

Switching to another related subject: I AM concerned, though, because the state I live in is now forcing everyone who had my insurance plan to drop it and sign up for one of two other insurance plans, which may totally change the Pharmacies which will accept my insurance and increase the expense of medication and Doctor co-pays. And it has ALREADY been too expensive for Doctor visits and a one month supply of generic medication..Plus, I am still uncertain whether my Doctor will accept both plans and whether medical transportation is available (I have a car that no longer functions and live in an area with no public transportation). Things seem to be going from bad to worse.

I personally find the torrent brand which is the oblong peach pill works great. I am able to snap it in half with my fingers and take 1/2 now and if still awake in an hour I can take the other half. I am very please with this manufacturers product. Far, far superior to the branded extended release product. (The dark blue round pills). Your not suppose to cut the er pills in half and I feel totally hung over when talking this pill.

Wrong, the country does matter. The FDA just pulled Rambaxy. I've taken 2 of their scripts and they cause severe leg cramping that was unbearable painful. All ingredients are not the same in all generics. Lipitor and Cipro were the culprits. 3days on Cipro I couldn't sit, lay down or walk. The pain was from the waist down to my ankles. Extreme pain that I've never experienced before.

Anytime that I had the purple mylan generic, it never work. If I take another one my stomach gets upset, so no sleep until time for next refill and will ask for the long white ones or tranfer

I have been calling around after having bad experience with Teva generic of ambien, apparently Costco has Milan available. I guess I will try that unless I can find a pharmacy with Qualitest or Sandoz.

I take the same and I also get those same ones. The first time I took the new I could tell a big difference , I personally think this new one is more potent, don’t know how but just works better for me than the previous generic ambien

I've been taking ambien for several years through a mail order. Recently filled my prescription from my CVS. Began taking this new generic (Qualitest) 3 days ago, and haven't slept since.

I actually have used the Torrent generic of Ambien for years and it worked great for me. My pharmacy just switched to a brand of Ambien from Northstar and it does not work for me at all! It is a white tablet that is football shaped. I am having trouble finding anyone that still carries the peach one from Torrent.

What country or countries does mylan use to make generic ambien? Where do the raw materials come from? I was switched from another generic to mylan's generic--awake most of the night and if I did get a "few" hours sleep I felt drugged. That never happened with the other generic or the ambien. Does this fda give a darn about the safety of the generics they approve of? Frankly, I don't trust third world countries products with regard to medicines
i ingest! Heaven only knows what types of pollutants are in these third world generics.

Hi. Do u have a Ralph's pharmacy? They have the qualitest (best for me so far) mylan Costco is junk. I called Costco. They said they can always order the preferred brand, they just need notice from patient. Then they metro your preferences in your file.

I was taking zolpidem 10mg from qualites then rite aid switched me to torrent i get 30 of them instead of 14 of the other but they are no were near as effective as the qiualitest brand. also i could buy the other 16 qualitest for ten dollars. I just wanted to rant to someone else about my disappointment.

Hey there, I had the same issue with Rite Aid. A lot of the stores did switch over to Torrent lately from Qualitest. I noticed this almost immediately though upon pick up and refused to accept it and they ordered me Qualitest, so Rite Aid can get it for you but you may have to jump some loops. Dealing with Ambien generics has been a living hell for me. First of all generic Ambiens are just bad news up and down the line. None of them are as potent or even really the same as the Sanofi brand. I was willing to take a slight financial hit and I was paying Tier 3 insurance (the highest tier with the highest copay) just to get the brand but then my dumbas insurance removed brand Ambien from even the highest tier. Its now a plan benefit EXCLUSION. Which means I cant get brand period unless I want to pay 500 a month and I aint Bill Gates LOL So over trial and error I found Qualitesf Zolpidem is at the very least COMPETENT. Those Indian brands are garbage. Torrent gives me intense nightmares, panics, and makes me sleepwalk every night. Those white circular ones (Teva I think) are so weak they do nothing. Qualitest is quite good. Nothing dramatic, but it kinda works. Anyway yeah, Rite Aid can still get you Qualitest if you ask specifically and nicely heh. Oh and Ive now written a formal letter to Sanofi encouraging them to reintroduce an Authorized Generic for Ambien back into the market. They used to contract out to Prasco to make one but stopped for some unknown stupid reason Im sure.

DO NOT TAKE THE ONE FROM TORRENT thats from india. what i went through for days, i thought i was damn near poisoned. everyone is different but i felt so sick, that i was like let me google it and see if theres anyone else that had the same problem. and here we all are! i just got an override today for the zolpidem. what i did was call different pharmacies and just ask them the generic pharm. company that makes the mg of the zolpidem that you take. if they say torrent, DO NOT get it filled. this is my opinion, but for anyone that has severe insomnia, if theres a chance this could happen to you, avoid it like the plague. i hope this helps!

hey, thank you for the info! i have been going to the same rite aid and know everyone on a first name basis and they for whatever reason wouldnt/couldnt or just dont order outside of what they have currently. so i had to call pharmacies and ask which generic co brand they used until i found one that had qualitest. i went back to the dr and explained what had happened with me getting sick from the ones from torrent, she was very sympathetic and understanding, i had the bottle with the pills i plucked out of the garbage in case she wanted the torrent ambiens back, she didnt even ask or want them. i went into the pharmacy, the new one with the new rx for it again, the guy called for an override because of a reaction to the previous ones, it went through. they didnt even ask for the old bottle or pills back and i got them filled today and will have a good night sleep for the first time in quite some time! thank you for your feedback, i knew i couldnt be the only one that had this experience... if i could give sick a level on how i felt after taking a torrent brand one, id say it was about an 11!

I've been taking 10mg peach torrent ambien for five years. By far it is the best. Teva, qualitest and every other brand I tried did not work like torrent

Cara, I wrote that message kinda fast so i do apologize for thinking I know everything . It's been a long time since I have had the name brand (I wish I felt what you felt) My wife takes them as well and we just did not get the same feeling that we did with the Qualtiest . But everyone is different. Plus no insurance I know will cover them. But yes there definitely the best generic we can get at least for the moment . I have been getting the ER/CR generic as well and Winthrop I would say is the best for that since it's made by Sanofi . While it does not do much for me because of my tolerance I would guess . Certain CVS will special order anything they can get there hands on . It's strange one CVS said no way and another said what ever you want . So you just have to call around or build a relationship with you pharm and they will help you get what you need . Discount cards do come in handy in situations like this when it's the Name brand or getting sugar pills but there still expensive . Walgreens charged me once $55 for 90 count of generics , I hate to see what they want for real Ambien . and Ambien CR must cost a fortune . I wonder why other countries get much better genreics then the usa :( .

To answer your question about why certain countries get the better generics, it's because in some countries Authorized Generics of Ambien are still made there. If you dont know what Authorized Generics are, I highly recommend a quick Google crash course on generic meds. Authorized Generics are different from regular generics in that they are the exact same formula (including fillers) as the brand name. AGs are usually produced by the same company that produces the brand name, but with the company's generic brand. So for example Pfizer makes Zithromax, and Greenstone which is a Pfizer owned generic company makes an Azithromycin Authorized Generic which is identical to brand. 100 other companies also make Azithromycin, but none of the rest are authorized generics so were approved by the FDA based on equivalency and not the way authorized generics are approved. AGs are fast tracked and approved almost immediately because they are identical. Sanofi still has a lot of Authorized Generics in various Sanofi generic brands in other countries and those are usually the ones which have awesome ratings. For some inexplicable reason, Sanofi used to have an authorized generic in the US introduced around the time when Ambien went generic in the mid 2000s but pulled it from the market. Im almost positive that the reason they pulled it is because generic Zolpidem had become so dirt cheap with the cheap Indian garbage brands flooding the market that it just wasnt worth the effort to sell the AG. Especially cause like in America in most consumers minds Zolpidem is Zolpidem is Zolpidem. They have no great interest in knowing there are various brands and they just take whatever generic is given to them. So its a hard sell to market an AG. But those of us who know about AGs can greatly benefit because we can request the specific brand and pay only generic co pay rates. Same as what we'd pay for any generic. Anyway I've written to Sanofi to reintroduce an Authorized Generic for Ambien.

I stopped taking Zolpidem 25 days ago after being on and off it for 15 months. I'm currently experiencing excessive saliva and dry mouth and I'm wondering if this is a normal withdrawal side affect, if it is, how long will it last, or do I need to see my doctor?
