Zolpidem Generic (Page 6)

ALL CVS pharmacies just changed the zolpidem from MYLAN manufacturer (out of PA) to TORRENT in India. Because generics can certain behave differently, I am nervous about taking the (10 mg) oblong peach Torrent brand one after reading some things online. I also don't like the idea of CVS using from out of the country manufacturer which HAS to be due to a better price because MYLAN brand is still very readily available. Any comments?
Most Walmart's in Denver use northstar generic zolpidem. I am looking for a pharm that uses Sandoz. Worked for me when I got it from Kaiser, but no longer with Kaiser.
I had to find a pharmacy that would special order it. It was $56 for 30 10mg through a Walgreen's. I checked every pharmacy in my county and they were my last hope. Some chains will do special orders, most will not--it all depends where you live. I find the Sandoz to be minimally useful--better than the other generics (I've tried them all) in that it actually relaxes you and you actually sleep, but only for about 4 hours, and then are very tired the next day because you couldn't actually sleep off the drug. But under certain limited circumstances--like when I don't have to be somewhere early the next morning and it's already at least 2:00 a.m.--I will use it.
You definitely need an Rx
I also believe that Sandoz only makes the ER version
This is a very strong substance and frankly you should be under a Dr care for it
Where can you obtain Sandoz zolpidem in the United States? At which pharmacies rather? I lived in Brasil for 8 months and was able to purchase it over the counter (the pharmacy never asked, very few did) but in any case they were wonderful and cheap and boy did i rack up. I'd love to know where in the states (I'm in New Jersey) they have them here. Thanks.
Wow see I tried that and my insurance said well we will send your doctor who is not permitting generic but brand only, to fill out mounds of paperwork and even a 500 page letter (ok j/k on that part but may as well be!) and not only one time but every 90 days or 3 months which is just no mercy on my doctor who is kind enough as it is to be prescribing me a 90 day supply as it is. My insurance by the way is amerigroup. At one time it was ok but now they are driving everyone insane so much that walgreens dropped them and many other doctors and providers are dropping them as I write this. This I believe is how obamacare hmo's will start to disappear rather than get pulled out from right under everyone's chairs as quick as trump would like it but none the less very clever. Final comment: I would be happy to pay your copay for the real deal ambien. Did I mention, even if my doctor wrote the essays trimonthly, id still have a 50% copay or more. Yea.
There's a rule about that--if a pill is scored (breakable along a center incised line), that means that the active ingredient is mixed uniformly throughout, so it should be equally active in both halves of the pill. If there is no score line, the active ingredient is not necessarily uniformly mixed in. That's why you might end up with one half working and the other not. Although why a manufacturer would end up with uneven mixing in any formula is beyond me.
The zolpidem peach from Torrent was the one that worked for me. I just received TEVA 74 white pill. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. Even stranger, I cut it in half and half the pill works and the other half doesn't.
I have been on Zolpidem for 20 years and have had ALL the generics. It is definitely hit and miss with them all. All the "ones", (generic manufacturers) that really worked, are gone as we all know.
Through a mistake with a new doctor she wrote a prescription for Lunesta 3mg.
I've been on this now for several nights until they can write the Zolpidem again. I had no luck with sleep the first few nights... maybe an hour or so? All the things I read about it were true for me in the beginning....metallic taste in the mouth the next day... foggy head... food tasted differently....
All that did eventually cease. I do sleep at least 4 hrs give or take. It does take much longer to take effect, and having an empty stomach is essential.
I'm not sure what's going to happen when I go back on Zolpidem, but it's a small comfort to know this is an alternative.
This Lunesta generic is made by Dr.Reddy. I had great sleep with the Zolpidem manufactured by Dr.Reddy before they yanked that one.
Long peach pills are Torrent 10mg.
Again, very mixed reviews of this generic
What brand of Ambien does Publix use? I like the long peach colored pills best.
I took the ambien they was yellow and said zlp on one side and 10 on the side and it feels like I have not took nothing?
The one from India the peach pill does not work......my doctor research it the close one is from TEVA...it's works ....made in USA....it all about money......
Chris M., I did try Rite-Aid!! Was so surprised to have them say no. I did try the Sandoz Thursday night--a night when I think I probably would have slept eventually on my own. It worked within half an hour but then I did wake up 4 hours later but just stayed there lying in bed. Unlike the Torrent, Teva, Northstar, Mylan--I woke up with all of these too as soon as an hour but then it was like something was actively preventing me from going back to sleep and it was very frustrating and upsetting--but with the Sandoz I felt calm and sort of dreamy but didn't have any more real sleep. But then, although it was 8 hours from when I took the pill to when I got up, I was very very tired and doped-up and cranky until about 3:00 p.m. So that's a problem, as I had to travel and go to M.D., etc. and it seems to me that just elapsed time isn't enough to get this out of your system, you have to actually sleep it off. And that hasn't happened before with the Qualitest after 8 hours. I will try it again, no other choice.
Good luck Lily. Hoping it's the ticket for you like it is for me. I know all of our bodies are different though! As far as the pharmacies ordering brands for you, those are some really nazi pharmacies in your area! I mean none of mine in my area will proactively offer or tell you about requesting specific brands, but once you ask them its really not a big deal. They look up the brand in their system, find the NDC number, and then order it for you. Ask to talk to the pharmacy manager in your store if you have no luck with the frontline employees. I use Rite Aid btw.
Chris M, based on your experience I checked at every pharmacy in my county and none had or could get Sandoz or can do special orders except, finally, Walgreen's. It's quite a trip to go there but I now have it, the 10mg. And guess what? Have been falling asleep on my own except waking up every night 2:30, 3:00, 4:00, when it's too late to take a pill as I have to be up early every day now. So I haven't tried it yet. It sits there like a promise, a hope. Sometime soon it'll happen.
You can have your pharmacy order you Sandoz 10. I'm in my 2nd month now and I can not speak more highly of Sandoz. This thing is as good if not better than Qualitest and rock solid consistent. After going through the ordeal of like trying 20 different brands after Qualitest I can finally be at peace.
Teva is terrible but not from India . It's from Israel . Actually had ok luck with one Indian brand for the 12.5 Lupin (looks like the name brand) But the best in Winthrop 12.5 . 12.5 Sandoz is useless for me . There IR 10mg seem to be the only good 10mg left on the market since Qualitest s gone . There hard to find .
I'm really glad, Chris M., that you've found something good!!
I am exceptionally relieved to say that Sandoz 10 works almost perfectly! I am really amazed now having used this for three days just how bad Mylan was! This thing is night and day better. Of all the generics Ive taken, the Sandoz is the first one that gives you that relaxed feeling for a few minutes before you fall asleep like the brand name Ambien. Ok so details. Small round yellow pill for 10 mg. About half the size of the Mylan round one which must have double the fillers hah. Any pharmacy should be able to order this for you but I got mine at Rite Aid.
Hey Chuck,
I didnt know Sandoz had a non extended release generic either, but they infact do. My pharmacy just ordered it because I asked them to look it up. Oh by the way, back to my railing on my stupid insurance company, they dont cover extended release AT ALL. Not brand, not even generic. I mean if you thought their removing brand regular Ambien completely was bad, this is like a step worse because no generic. If they would cover it, Id ask my doctor and get the Winthrop because its made by Sanofi but moot point.
