Yellow 1mg Vs. Blue E64 Clonazepam

Updated

I have been taking 1mg (yellow) Clonazepam generic for Klonopin for a while now (yes I know it is habit forming). It is for anxiety and to help me sleep. I am on a high a fluctuating thyroid disease so there are some times my thyroid will over produce and w/ the meds on top I will be hyper anyways I also notice if I miss just one does I will have major anxiety. I ran out of my yellow pills and my aunt gave me one over the weekend till I could get my doc to refill my script. My aunts has the blue pill w/ E64 also 1mg and MAN WAS I IMPARIED. Her script and my script are both Klonopin 1mg. So why is hers so much stronger than mine?

I am trying to go to sleep right now. I'm in pain and I want to take Klonopin but I am scared to. I keep shaking with chest pains, plus I have acid reflux.

I too have been on 1 mg klonopin for years. My pharmacy recently swapped to the blue little pills you described from the yellow. I have noticed same thing. I have been having to use a pill cutter to cut them in half or in 1/4ths now. SIGNIFICANT difference from the others. Different manufacturer apparently makes a big difference.

Google an article titled "What You Need to Know About Generic Drugs" by Tod Cooperman, MD ConsumerLab.com. It is shocking to learn how much the active ingredient is allowed to vary in generic drugs vs the original drug and from generic brand to generic brand. And in order to keep costs down (& profits high for pharma) pharmacies don't even have to inform us anymore when they change our brands. Scary! I learned this the hard way! Everything can be found on FDA.gov and NIH.gov, but you have to look for it. Most doctors are ignorant to it :(

This actually does happen and sometimes, even to the point where the stronger ones (OF COURSE) have to be taken off the market, reformulated to match their less strong counterparts, then re-released. For instance, I take Roxicodone 30mg for chronic pain. I was informed, in writing, that the pills I was getting were found to contain too much oxycodone and would be temporarily removed from the market while they were reformulated. (translation- lessened the strength/quality). I would be given another brand until my previous brand was re-released. No need to tell you that the new brand did NOT work as well. How do I know that the other brands didn't simply contain LESS medication and mine had the CORRECT amount? Needless to say, I SOOOOO wish I had kept some of the stronger ones on hand, but why would I have thought to do that? LOL. You might want to think about doing that, because, once knowledge of that catches on, they may no like the fact that your medication works properly. Good luck to you.

Klonopin is a seizure med. or meant to be I think. No reason to give for sleep. Panic attacks are greatly reduced by them. 30 years now and not even close to addicted. It got so terrible I didn't drive 2 years. I started on 3 / 1 mg. A day. Driving in 6 mo. And down to 1/ 3 times a day. I would forget to tell them not to refill and have bottles never touched and outdated. Too much Zantac is given for true panic attacks. It takes more and more so my Dr. tried klonopin on me. After 30 yrs. I take 1/2 green if traveling or going to be alone! No reason to sleep all day. It was never meant for sleep! Excuses. I don't understand why anyone HAS to have them!!! I don't want to be drowsy or sleep hang over! Life is short but those who do keep people who truly need them from getting. Medicaid will pay for anything bad for you when others have to use what they have to pay. Amazing. Prolix, same way. Free for Medicaid but me avg. income or below $575.00. A pure sin!

Klonopin is a benzo, similar to valium or Ativan. it was originally made for seizure control, but they soon found out that it was good for treating bi-polar disorder and anxiety conditions. I take 4mg at bedtime, and it really helps me to relax and settle down. Everybody is different, so you have to take what works for you. Zantac is a stomach med, you were given that for panic attacks?, Or did you mean Xanax, which is benzo, similar to klonopin or Ativan. What do you take prolix for? It is a type of steroid that could make you hyper or give you psychiatric like side effects.

Best,
Sam
