Will I Pass A Drug Test While Taking Suboxone (Page 2) (Top voted first)

I am on a suboxone treatment program and currently interviewing for several new jobs. I will have to take a pre-employment drug test and I am wondering if I will fail for an opiate due to the suboxone. I do not want to tell my future employer that I am in treatment for a past drug dependency and I am worried that the suboxone will make that impossible.

I just took an 11 panel drug test for employment and it did not show up. It was a 9 panel DOT test with an OPI 1300 test with expandable opiates. I take bout 2mg a day and nothing showed up. Their is a specific separate test for subs

Does Dcfs/Cps test for suboxone/subutex/bupenorphine? Does anyone know? I took one as a pain killer for a migraine last week from an old prescription I had. I told my worker that. But I test tomorrow and wanna make sure I'll be okay.

HEY EVERYBODY, READ THIS.

I have been commenting on this for weeks. I am on probation and took suboxone STUPIDLY and regretted the piece immediately. I took the test the NEXT day and it was a lab test. I had my p.o meeting yesterday and the suboxone, DIDN'T show up, so i passed. I'm relieved and wanted to let everyone know.

My p.o is STRICT too.

I am getting a urine test in two days and I am on 8mgs suboxone I am on parole and scared to death I keep reading these articles that individuals post stating that it will come up and I read ones that state that it won't! So which is it? Should I just tell my parole officer that I am on it per prescription or should I just wing it and not say anything about being on it at all! If I tell her I am taking it she will then realize that I slipped and was using dope again! I am so afraid and stressed out!! I have been on parole for 2 years now exactly and have never come up dirty I still have 2 years left on parole and I really don't want her to know I relapsed but she will be really pissed if she finds out on her own. What should I do?

they only test for it in a 10 panel drug test... if you have a 5 panel it does not show up.. also it is detected under Buprenorphine not opiate

People who think those of us that have tested positive are just trying to "scare folks" are ridiculous. I was prescribed xanax by my doctor and I was stupid enough to tell him that my mom gave me valium when I ran out of my xanax and couldn't get it refilled right away ( I was being honest with my doctor...best policy right?). He ordered a drug screen. I asked all over the internet and kept being told that it won't show up unless specifically tested for. WRONG! I went to Quest Diagnostics lab and they perform the 10 panel drug screens. My doctor had no reason to test for buprenorphine and I saw the order and results and there was no request for it. But it showed up on the 10 panel drug screen and f***ed me over with my doctor. I had to find a new doctor because without explaining myself, he would no longer prescribe my xanax.

So YES, in a 10 panel drug screen, which most places use now, buprenorphine WILL show up if still in your system. If you're lucky enough to have a place that is still using the very outdated 5 panel testing, then no it won't show up. When the 5 panel was the norm, the only way to test positive was to give a specific test for buprenorphine. Now buprenorphine has been added to the larger 10 or 12 panel tests. I found this out the hard way by listening to someone online who said the lab had to test SPECIFICALLY for buprenorphine in order for it to show up. WRONG, WRONG, WRONG. Those of you that don't want to listen...I hope the lab you go to is outdated and using the old 5 panel drug screens. Look up online or call any lab and ask what is included in their drug screens.

Good Morning,
To provide some very detailed information on my recent drug test for a job. This screen I took is only a day old FYI.
Health Issues:
1. Complete collasp of C6, Need surgery however need to get back to work so that I can proceed forward and take care of my family first. I have been in pain for about 25 years and have been constantly misdiagnost. Been on pain killers, got off of them and have traded them for Suboxone, it has some anelgesic affects along with Motrin I can deal with the pain.
2. Adderal, as I suffer from a mild case of Narcolespy. As well as other sleep disorders.... namely not being able to sleep.

I have a very good doctor who is a specialist in substance abuse and more over is a fantastic general as well as a good friend....Luckily I dont have any vises and no addictions other than the one, opiate replacement that the body has, but not the mind if that makes any sense.

Drug Testing: Taking Suboxone, and Adderal. The question is will they show up in a Drug Screen?

I have taken three different type of drug test over the last three days to verify for myself what will and wont show up as there is a lot of confusion out there and no clear answers..

The typical 5 Panel Drug Screen that is required for Job Applications and Random Testing will show the following: Aderral, it is an Anphetimine Salt and shows up in any and all drug screens. However, it dissapates from the body in 70 hrs regardless if yoiu take it daily for years like I have or less.

Suboxone: Will not show up in a typical 5 panel Drug Screen. I am tested monthly to verify Im on it, or whatever the requirements are as by FDA with this drug. I am looking forward to getting off of it slowly in the next year to come when I am completed with my surgery.

Suboxone will show up in a 12 Panel take home test as Oxy. You can verify this for yourselves, not sure why but my thoughts are these take home kits are of old school chemistry at best but they are very sensitive seemingly more so than the typical labs 5 panel.

I had taken two 5 panel drug test in two different labs to quantify my results, stopped taking the adderal for over the weekend 70 hrs and took one home drug test 12 panel on a Sunday Evening to verify I was good to go for the scheduled drug test. I didnt stop taking the Suboxone becuase I already knew this was a 5 panel screen, just stopped the adderal over the weekend and I past with flying colors.

Im not a big fan of Drug Testing even though I own and run a busniess that has high abuse in the workforce. The reason being that even though I have scripts and Im under a doctors care the labs no longer account for your scripts and or meds you take. This info now goes to your employer or third party that is requesting proof that you are legitimatly taking these drugs. The problem is that if you are a middle aged male, white, you have a high probability of being descriminated against because now they know you have medical issues for lack of better words... and what will they now be thinking? remember it cost money to bring a lawsuit and even more to proove it. and years to settle if you get that far... So, it turns honest people into criminals to figure out some way of defeating the test, which is very doable, or other ways, which defeats the purpose of testing anyways for honest people trying to get back to work to take care of thier family. Next issue is when I was actually at the lab there were two techs... both were very sketchy to begin with but otherwise were very decent people and very informative on the drug test.... good guys regardless. They informed me that THC stays in the body for a month and everything else for only a couple of days regardless if done once or more. Alcohol is way more dangerous than Smoking Rope, but imagine if there are required random drug testing the increased dangers caused by testing? people that have vises, recreational or otherwise, or medical uses for THC would have to go to a different drug, more dangerous, in order to deal with what ailes them so that they can pass a random drug screen. Hippa requirements state that all personal business about medical or otherwise is private but in reality with drug testing it is not because your always assumed guilty until the test come back negative. then you have to provide script and doctor info to prove otherwise. After this point your out the door anyways because your employer thinks you have health issues and cant work the job due to them... A double edged sword, especially in a right to work state... no ground to satnd on... Your only chance to to have a clean Drug Screen no matter how you have to achieve it.... no matter how!

No......buprenorphine is an opioid....it is a partial-opioid agonist that has a high binding affinity with a long half life(32 to 70 hours or so) that mildly stimulates the mu receptor. Let's just clear this up on this forum for everyone. Suboxone(buprenorphine/naloxone) will not test positive for any type of opiate(full opiate agonist: hydrocodone, oxycodone, heroin, morphine) But it is of the more general synthetic opioid class, that requires a specific test. Most employers, and even probation/parole will not test for it. However, I have heard it is becoming more commonly tested for as more awareness is being raised of its potential abuse(up for debate of course), and I have heard that probation/parole will only test for it if there is suspicion of use or you outright told them you have used it. I could be wrong on that, but that's what I've heard, and experienced in the 4 years I was on paper( thank God I'm off!)

I dont know why people go on here and answer questions they pretend to know the answers to. I take suboxone everyday and take a drug test every week and never has it showed up for opiates. It needs to be tested for specifically. Ive had a suboxone test before while i was in rehab and its on a whole seperate stick of its own. I can tell you from experience it DOES NOT show up as opiates and people saying that it does are just talking from false information they have heard and have no real life experience. By the way my po uses a 10 panel test and it has never showed up for any emoyment drug test ive taken.

I wouldn't recommend using subs to get off percocet. The sub addiction is much worse than an addiction to percs. I used suboxone to replace a ten year heroin and morphine addiction and have done just about every pill and opiate under the sun, been on subs for a year and I think you're much better off just trying to wean yourself off the percs. I think the percs are the lesser of the two evils but do what you think works for you, I am by no means a doctor or expert, just going off of my experience

Hi this is a late reply but want to say that it is now SEPTEMBER 2017 AND NO IT DOES NOT SHOW UP ON A PRE EMPLOYMENT SCREEN LIKE LOWES so if anyone is worried u can take subs while that mouth swab is in your mouth and it will not show up.

Just because you are prescribed suboxone, doesn't mean you had to relapse. All you need to say is you were having cravings and went to the doc to see if anything would help bc you ar eon parole and don't want to act on your craving to do something!

Be assured suboxone does not show up as an opiate or any other drug that will get you in trouble after a drug test.
My cpn worker told me this as I was worried about getting drug tested as part of an oil related job and he should know as he actually performs the drug testing for an oil company.so your in the clear unless they perform a specific test that includes testing for bup but it is a test rarely if atoll undertaken.

Bulls*** Subs do not show up as opiates. If u do not know something don't try and act like u do and give people misleading info. I'm on state parole and take a test every week and pass with flying colors and I abuse Subs

SUBOXONE DOES NOT COME UP AS OPIATE DOES NOT SHOW UNLESS THEY TEXTFOR IT AND THEY DONT. I HAVE TEST DONE ONCE A MONTH FOR YEAR NOW AND NO OPIATES SHOW AND I TAKE SUBOXONE

so i have been on suboxone for 5 yrs and have had a job with a very strict drug policy the entire time. I have passed every test including their hair follicle test for all the years. (no i didnt cheat) suboxone NEVER showed up as an opiate. It never showed up as anything. Now to more disturbing news. I was recently fired and had to look for new employment on a rig. I landed a great job for frontier drilling in ND and went in for the orientation. I was not worried about a drug test at all and pissed in the cup with no problem. To my shock and horror the test came up positive for BUP. The guy had to look it up but I knew immediately what BUP was and even after showing them my script I was black balled from frontier never to apply again. Just lost a 100k / yr job over suboxone and im done. Ive lowered from 2 a day to 1/4 twice a day. feel like s***. Getting off this medication. I wont let anything stand in the way of me providing for my family. If I wanted that I'd just go back to using. Hope this post is helpful.
