I am on a suboxone treatment program and currently interviewing for several new jobs. I will have to take a pre-employment drug test and I am wondering if I will fail for an opiate due to the suboxone. I do not want to tell my future employer that I am in treatment for a past drug dependency and I am worried that the suboxone will make that impossible.

hey pro can u be specific as to if you passed a hair or UA test? i am worried sick over a hair test that i will have to submit and am currently taking ~ 1 mg suboxone, the position is for law enforcement in the state of NY.. thanks

As for pot if u hardly ever smoke it n u smoke for a day or two, wait 5 or 6days and ull be fine. bout two years ago i smoked some two days in a row n had a pre employment drug test like 5 or 6 days later and i passed. just be sure to drink alittle more water then u usually do.

I'm here to tell you that the 7-panel screen I took (that I purchased from Walgreens) DID show positive for Opiates! And Suboxone is the only opiates I've taken in 5 years. So basically the moral to the story is "depends on what test is administered". Don't give anyone a false sense of hope that just because you passed that everyone in every situation will! Go to Walgreens or CVS, pick up the over-the-counter, 7-panel test for $20 and see for yourself.

In a major violation of my rights, I was court ordered to take both "full panel" urine AND hair tests under absolutely zero suspicion of any sort of drug use whatsoever. I've been freaked out and terrified for weeks over the idea. Take subs daily, including day of the testing. They did the immediate stick test on the urine and sent it to the lab... both came back totally clean. I don't know the result of the hair test yet, but my assumption (guess) is that the hair test will test for the exact same things the urine test did, and that its purpose isn't to include wider drug testing but to look back farther in history, yes? If anyone knows the answer you'll help me sleep at night. So if that theory is correct I should be fine... if not then I'll have a negative piss test and a positive hair test... and fire my attorney for not finding a way to get me out of being tested like a criminal in the first place...

HEY EVERYBODY, READ THIS.
I have been commenting on this for weeks. I am on probation and took suboxone STUPIDLY and regretted the piece immediately. I took the test the NEXT day and it was a lab test. I had my p.o meeting yesterday and the suboxone, DIDN'T show up, so i passed. I'm relieved and wanted to let everyone know.
My p.o is STRICT too.

I can tell you that I passed both hair and urine. It was a DOT 5 panel with expanded opiates.

I took a dot drug screen and I'm sweating bad. I took 4 mg the day before. You passed yours did they send it to a lab or did they dip it in the cup and tell u ur results that day

Wow you have set me at ease, well slightly. Everything I read has been back and forth, it will it won't, and so on. Like you I have been worried sick over this because it is for a great career. I was passed up before because of Norco, even though I had a script, and since then I have been on subs. As I was weening off of them, this opportunity came up. I dont want to lose out because I'm doing the right thing. I'm sure you can appreciate that. Thanks for your post and any other info you may have that may be useful, could you share it.

I take 2mgs suboxone a day under my tongue. I also smoke weed frequently... I have to take a pre employment drug screen for a hospital in "a couple weeks" assuming I got the job which things look good fingers crossed! But I'm beside myself about the drug screen. Even considering getting someone elses pee... what can I do in the next 2 weeks or less to come up negative for both THC and BUSH?
Finally something goes right n I know this drug screen is gonna ruin it for me... more accurately I'm going to ruin the drug screen.

no kidding? are you a jerk by nature or just for fun? EVERYONE knows the difference between opioids and opiates. and "sobo" is not even the part of the word that represents the opioid. If youre going to talk crap on ppl at least sound like you know what youre talking about. people use the word opiate as a general term for all opiates and opioids. your post was less than pointless. grow up.

so i have been on suboxone for 5 yrs and have had a job with a very strict drug policy the entire time. I have passed every test including their hair follicle test for all the years. (no i didnt cheat) suboxone NEVER showed up as an opiate. It never showed up as anything. Now to more disturbing news. I was recently fired and had to look for new employment on a rig. I landed a great job for frontier drilling in ND and went in for the orientation. I was not worried about a drug test at all and pissed in the cup with no problem. To my shock and horror the test came up positive for BUP. The guy had to look it up but I knew immediately what BUP was and even after showing them my script I was black balled from frontier never to apply again. Just lost a 100k / yr job over suboxone and im done. Ive lowered from 2 a day to 1/4 twice a day. feel like s***. Getting off this medication. I wont let anything stand in the way of me providing for my family. If I wanted that I'd just go back to using. Hope this post is helpful.

most places do not test for suboxone or subutex it is a separate drug screen and unless they expect it or not going to look for it
