I've used Paregoric for 15 years and can't find it. Is there anywhere in the U.S. or other countries where this can be purchased?

Do you live near a Costco? (pharmacy department)...I read...somewhere, that the cost for paregoric is really not that bad there? I wish you the best of luck in "saving your nickles and dimes"...God, I don't know what I'd do without my insurance! Yes I do...I would budget in my paregoric, I truly would! The best to you!

I read on the internet that as of August 2012 it is available again in the U.S. I am having extended pain from oral surgery and can get nothing stronger than ridiculously inadequate ibuprofen. I have decided doctors generally ddont understand pain or are too scared now to prescribe what really works especially for those of us with low pain tolerance levels. Mom used it successfully back in the 50s and it worked like a wonder. We've gone backwards in pain medications because of the abusive use of them by others and now we're in the scary position of not being able to get what we truly need for painful procedures based on the misuse of others!!! I will continue to hunt for paregoric so that I can know I have more control of pain and am not at the mercy of unbelievikng or skeptical doctors.

I have been able to purchase the original paregoric since it once again became available...
I agree with your thoughts on the subject of pain...

DEB, YOU WILL HAVE TO CONTACT ALL YOUR LOCAL PHARMACYS AND ASK THE PHARMACISTS TO ORDER IT OR IF THEY WILL BE STOCKING IT.

Hi Tech Pharmaceutecals (in New York) is the Company that makes it, and ships it out to ordering pharmacies...have you read all the past posts on paregoric? We talk about them...what town and state do you live in? Maybe I can help you find a pharmacy that carries it? I've used paregoric as an antidiarrheal for nearly thirty years. I'm desperate for it now. Please give me the name and address of the pharmacy in Trinidad where your mom got you some. If I can get some paregoric to relieve my misery I will be forever grateful. I've tried everything else which hasn't helped.

Hi - I just now called Discount Drug Mart in Lakewood, Ohio. They now have paregoric available again - just need to have my doctor write a prescription order for it - which I will do first thing in the morning! Hallelujah!!BSFYD

Hi Betty, thanks for your reply....I managed to get through the abscess tooth situation but plan to look at these places suggested on this site, for when something like that happens again and the prescribed medication is simply not enough.

I will certainly do the same thing, hoard it that is. at least one bottle in case it goes off the market again. I have been so miserable with out it, and I am sure I am not the only person. I never knew it was so popular.

WHAT A GREAT DAY FOR ALL OF US. I THINK MY CALL TO MICHELLE O. HELPED. I CAN EAT OUT AGAIN, BUT I'LL STILL WATCH OUT FOR THE 'MSG' . Sometimes I really wonder about this little brain of mine!
Why haven't I thought about carrying a small amount of it with me at all times??? I am literally housebound with fear of an attack, feel "safe" if husband and I are going somewhere (or just me) when I take a "swig" of it before leaving...take the whole bottle with us if we're going to be away from home for any duration...but, duh(!) why, oh why didn't I think of carrying a small bottle with me at all times? It IS a RX, not as if I'm carrying an illegal substance....again, "happy days are here again"...Thank you!

Betty, I keep mine in my purse at all times, underneath my asprin bottle. Buy a small glass bottle of ketchup at wallmart by the deli, empty it out or use the ketchup. It has a nice tight seal so it wont leak. ( ;

Just saw your Post, re Paregoric and big Gov!
But, remember...Paregoric is back, hopefully for good, yes? And...I really think it was several on this Site, writing and "bugging" the manufacturer to start making it again...we do have fears of it running out again, to to lack of supply and demand...I oh so pray that doesn't happen!
