What Prescription Drugs Could Cause A False-positive For Oxycodone?

On 8/19/14 my Doctor prescribed me 5 mg quick release tabs of Oxycodone for approx. 6 months, for neck pain(fusion), 3 slipped disks & a bulging disk, the OCYcodone was too strong for me, and on 9/25/14 the Dr. tried Norco 7.5/325 along with Nucynta ER for 2 days prior to a urine drug screen. Finally he dropped the Nucenta and tried Norco 10/325 three a day and I took that for 14 days. On the 3rd day of the 10/325 Norco he took a urine test, and although I haven't taken an Oxycodone since 9-26-14, today he told me I "failed" the drug test. I was wondering how long the Oxycodone stays in my system? Or could the Norco or Nucenta cause a false-positive for Oxycodone. At the time I had diabetes type 2 and took Metforman, also took Xanax (PRN), Adderall (PRN) and an SSRI called Paxil daily in the evening. Also, I've been told Urine tests are not always 100% accurate, is that true? (P.S.-We're dropping the Xanax).

all 3 drugs are opiates. Nucynta is Morphine derived, but still is part of the opiate family. A drug test will not specifically test for Oxicodone, it tests for opiates. But as to that They all metabolize quickly 24 to 48 hours. I have an issue that my urine doesn't even show I take anything even though I always take 100mg of Nucynta ER 2x a day.... So will depend on when you took any of the opiates. You doctor should know this and never should have stated you tested specifically for Oxicodone. You cannot test that specific for an opiate. Now your levels may be higher than they should be for these other opiates looking as if you took the stronger Oxicodone (if your Oxicodone was a stronger dose) but that again is all based on your metabolism of medications. You may metabolize slower than most people. I wish my food would metabolize as fast as my darn medication seems to be, I'd be thin again! I have taken 3 urine tests, 2 different labs, the one the doctor gave me to take in. I told him I'm obviously not dumb enough to go to a known drug test without my medication, besides the fact I wouldn't had been able to drive there with out the pain relief from the medication. I am now demanding a more accurate blood test. It's probably too late for you to do that, but if this comes up in your future demand a blood test.

I have a first time visit for PM and I know they will probably do a drug test, I had been on quite a few meds. For pain and anxiety from my pc doc. For many years until he retired about 6m.ago. The group of new doc. Wouldn't prescribe me any of them and said I need to go to pain management. So, I Dave some of my meds. So I could try and we in myself down which means they are gonna show up on the drug test. My question is when I tell the pm doc. That will I be okay or not?

Opioid drugs only remain in your urine for 4-5 days... Now in the bloodstream opiods can remain in your body at least 10-14 days. And there are a number of other medications that can cause a false positive result in a drug test. Including foods. I myself have failed drug test before and couldn't understand why because I honestly didn't take anything!... I think in some cases the test itself is detecting an enzyme that your body gives off and the test sees it as a positive result. See, drug test only need to find one enzyme that a curtain kind of drug has in it and pow!... Positive!!....I took a test one time and it freaked me out!... It said I had PvP in my system!.. I've never even seen pcp in my whole life...lol... It could be anything. Just research everything you've eaten, drank, anything!.. Especially other medications. Good luck.

Definitely tell them that you were prescribed it by your doctor and that you still had some leftover for as needed
