What Is The Best Xanax Generic 2017?
UpdatedI'm going to get my script soon, ive been taking the Actavis brand (Walgreens) and I asked if my next refill it could be the Greenstone g3722. My dosage I'd 2mg. I has the Mylan xr but would say the ACTAVIS is better. Should I stick to Actavis or go for Greenstone? I haven't tried Sandoz nor Dava.
Greenstone use to be best as they we're bought out by parent co.of Xanax but they dilluated the formula a few years ago. I've been using the 2mg XR Actavis and their not too bad...so yes Actavis works.
No one "diluted" the formula when a new company bought them. @Benzolover, you seem like you need some further understanding of what Xanax is and does, just a tad too excited about the drug.
I'm very informed on this drug. But I just wanted to ask what was the best generic. Opinions since I have always just had the activis. @eddy
In my 30 years on this Poison you are rarely if ever able to choose the generic brand you feel might work better. They all work about the same and your pharmacy orders from a supplier that usually offers the best price, to them!
I concur with Eddy on this matter and would even go so far as to say that there is no "best version of xanax", being that we all respond differently. A best version is only a matter of individual opinion based on someone's unique personal reaction to the drug and its fillers and does not insinuate how another patient will respond. Trial and error to find what works best "for you" and you only is the only honest way to determine personal preferences. However your feedback on each experience is always welcome here...
I just hope everyone in this thread is able to get the relief they need no matter who the manufacturer is.
They most certainly reformulated the Greenstone XR. I know this as I had been on this med for last 9 years. About 2 years ago- Roche- the parent company- did this due to all the mergers and acquistions...do you give up the exact recipe to a potential rival? Ask anyone that knows Greenstone XR and they will collaborate this...I now prefer Actavis ( now owned by Teva!)
I just called Greenstone XR and they would not collaborate this and hung up on me
Of course not - and most likely the minions on the phone would have no clue. These strategic initiatives- to pump up share prices/EPS- and not divulged. At the end of the day management- and the shareholders they answer to- care about profitability and EBIT. Its unfortunate their customers/patients play second fiddle to the expectations of YOY growth/share price/dividend pay out. It costs a boatload to develop a new drug, get it through the FDA and then have a constant war with the insurance companies. Drugs like Adderall, Xanax, etc- all off patent- get gobbled up by crap companies like Aurobindo, Teva. They in turn barely pass an already under funded FDA and the result is the crap we are forced to take as patients...my late Father was an executive with 35 years with Bristol Myers Squibb (died '87) and I'm sure he would be shocked at the state of the /pharm industry today..sad.
Yes they do put the cheapest binders and fillers in to keep costs low, but I personally pay 80 cents a bottle for what used to run me $150. I'll take cheap Xanax vs no Xanax anyday, now that's sad
Yep, there s a flip side... With Alprazolam(Xanax) its a fairly simply drug to manufacturer and the fillers/binders are nothing like an Adderall formula. Those fillers really affect the medicine and most skimp on the Amphet. salts...anyway, I have been taking DLPA, Glutamine, Inositol, B6 and Acetyl Caritine for last 5 months and have reduced my Xanax intake by 1/2 - with none of the awful brain zaps, etc. you normally get in reducing intake. I am NOT a Dr. so this would need to be approved by your Doc but stacking with Amino Acids has had remarkable positive effect on my mood and anxiety. All the best!
Same to you to! No matter what brand of generic Xanax one gets, its a nasty unhealthy medicine
Re: EDDY (# 2)
You don’t know what you're talking about. People are seeking medical advice not idiotic replies. Generics can differ greatly! The FDA allows companies to be up to -20% in ‘Actual’ active ingredient. And if you read the fine print, it may be even more. The doctors and pharmacies all know this. And lastly, each Individual reacts differently with different manufacturers. And furthermore, what are you doing trolling on this and other drug pill websites!? Your telling that person they’re looking for a high yet you're on the same forum looking for info yourself. Anyway guys, as a dispenser I’ll tell you Greenstone is as close to name brand as you’ll get. It’s actually only -5% inactive ingredient. Sandzo is next being a not too shabby -15%. The last I was informed no other generic was under a -20%. There was 1 that was 25% less potent than brand Xanax. But due to the fillings it passed FDA guidelines.

Re: Hamster (# 1)
Do you all like the XR's better? No matter what off brand, etc... the XR did not help me. I'm on a high dose though. I'm not certain if that makes a difference, but I've been on them a long time and they seem not to be working as well rt now. 4(1mg) per day Xanax. I need a change in one of my many meds!!! Ughhh
Re: Melissa R MD Advocate Medical Group (# 12)
To "DR " Melissa, Advocate what a horrible reply from your group. We all know the different brands may vary, SO WHAT? As an 'Internet prescriber" I seriously question your scientific study on the strength of generic alprazolam differences
Re: Hamster (# 1)
I find that although some are garbage, and some are the best.... It seems to me that accross the spectrum with all the benzodiazapines, you can't go wrong with Sandoz
Re: JayRy50 (# 15)
I fully agree with you here. Sandoz are one of the best xanax generics in my opinion. Dava are also quite effective as well. I've had greenstone .5mg (peach) but it's been years ago. The green Dava (s 902) 1mg footballs worked great when I was getting them. My pharmacy now carries Sandoz (gg 258 blue) and I have no complaints.
One brand I did try and found to be ineffective was Mylan 1mg (round, blue). I haven't tried any other generic xanax manufacturers or any ER formulations.
Re: David (# 5)
Is an oval blue pill with the imprint A other side 1-7 a form of xanax ....i believe they are .5 mgs not sure though
Re: Fiasco (# 17)
Could be this : A 1 7 (Sertraline 50 mg) Pill with imprint A 1 7 is Blue, Capsule-shape and has been identified as Sertraline hydrochloride 50 mg. ... Sertraline 50 mg is not a controlled substance under the Controlled Substance Act (CSA).
Imprint?: ?A 1 7 Size?: ?10.00 mm
Re: EDDY (# 4)
Just came across this. Sorry to say you are wrong. I go to Walgreens and they mainly deal with Lupin for my b/p meds, Actavis for Xanax and Mylan for a muscle relaxer. I told them what generic brand I want and they said as long as I tell them at least 3 days before I run out of the meds they can order the one I want. Plus I threatened to transfer all my scripts to another pharmacy.
Re: EDDY (# 4)
It's not a matter of getting excited. I myself just realized that drugs from various manufacturers can be different. And I'm not just talking about benzodiazepine. I'm taking meloxicam and I was getting it at Walgreens the LUPIN brand, and it wasn't doing anything for me. I started researching reviews from various manufacturers and then I told Walgreens that I wanted my meloxicam from CIPLA and it worked better than the Lupin brand in managing my pain. The same thing with the Lidocaine patches. Mylan brand IMO was garbage. I changed to the Actavis brand and huge difference. I am taking the Actavis Xanax also and I read about the Greenboro, or whatever it's called. I read it was better, meaning closer to the brand, but the quality went down. So, I am sticking with the Actavis brand of Xanax because it works. I figure if my insurance is paying these pharmacies then it's in my best interest to get the manufacturer brand that works for me. Yes, surprisingly manufacturers Brands makes a difference. I find that meds from Actavis are pretty good. Any med I take now I research the manufacturer such as: my blood pressure meds. I don't play around with that. There is nothing wrong in anyone doing their due diligence in checking out feedback regarding various manufacturers. Believe me, some of these manufacturers push pharmacists to sell their brand so as customers we have to advocate for ourselves.

Coming from someone who almost died from stopping this stuff, I find no problems with most generic alprazolam. I priced name brand at Rite Aid recently and it was $643. I pay about $6, for a 3 month supply.
Re: Melissa R MD Advocate Medical Group (# 12)
I have been taking 1mg. 3 times daily of name brand Xanax for about 20 years. It has become ridiculous in price! Over the years I've tried several generic brands but they do not work for me! I hate taking anything at all. But, I have to have it for anxiety and PTSD. I've been clean and sober for 38 years so I don't take this for "recreation." The ONLY brand I can take that works for me is Xanax. I finally found that Greenstone does work for me and is MUCH cheaper. My doc and the pharmacist agree that Greenstone is the closest brand to name brand Xanax. So far this works for me.
Re: David (# 5)
I’ve been on them all for the past 20 plus years . Greenstone are very good but I believe Activas is a little bit better. I just got sandoz and they don’t help me at all. I get 2mg 3 x a day and had to take 4 just to make my panic attack away!
The blue ones are decent and so are the green ones . Stay away from anything else!
Re: goozer (# 48)
I’m definitely interested in your opinion on 2mg Greenstone alprazolam vs 2mg Actavis alprazolam .
Re: Goozer (# 40)
I been on Actavis Alprazolam 2mg for 10 years , just got 2mg Greenstone from a different pharmacy today & didn’t realize it until I got home . Was thinking of going back tomorrow to get Actavis until I started reading these posts . Do you still recommend Greenstone over Actavis ?
stick to greenstone they are brand name and identical to brand name xanax in active and inactive ingredients. i get the 2mg greenstones and the 3mg xr by greenstone. activas er is horrible imo. ibdo like their 2mgs though not their er or xr formulations though just the 2mg by activas and even then they hit quick and end quick greenstone is brand name xanax truly. stick with greenstone
Re: Roxanne 56 (# 45)
no more roxanne they are gone and the new 54 411 are by hinka pharma i habe rhodes and all 54 411 formulations and the rhodes last two times longer and is two times more potent. rhodes is also made by quality purdue pharma and is identical to brand name subutex. trust me it is in your head and himka 54 411 are no good. u landed gold getting rhodes they are identical to brand name and the old tevas just look up the ingredients. but if ubwant the crummy 54 411 just ask for himka. they are not what they used to he when gloriously roxanne was still around. rhodes is brand name u got lucky
Re: Roxanne 56 (# 45)
I'm sorry but roxanne is gone for good and so is their formulation. Westward sold their formulation to himka pharma which himka pharma is the one that makes the new 54 411. Rhodes is great. It is identical to brand name subutex in its active and inactive ingredients. I would be hally you got brand name subutex with rhodes and the 54 411 are weak. I have all four. The old roxannes, westwards, and new himkas and the rhodes. I have tested them all and rhodes is two times more potent and lasts two times as long. I have them all and tested them all. You struck gold getting rhodes. It is brand name made by quality purdue pharma and is brand name subutex literally look up the ingredients. Everything about the 54 411 is old and in your head they have not been even close to good since roxanne which is obsolete now. Rhodes is the best generic as it is identical to brand, but if you want the crummy new and not good 54 411 just ask for himka pharma and you will find them. But if I were you I would stick to rhodes brand name. Trust me. It must be a head thing. I've been there.
I am so discouraged and sick and tired of chasing the westward/rox down. Got it at Walmart until they decided I had to live in that county. 5 miles from mine. Got it in my county 2 times. It's on back order they say and aren't ordering it anyway, it's too pricey. It's like chasing drug dealers, who's got what. WTF. So they gave me Rhodes 8mg. Looks like 54/11 but I just got sleepy. No pep from westward. I'm so close to well I can't give up. What is really going on? Is it me? I would really appreciate feedback.
