Have you contacted your veterinarian?
I am not really certain of the effect it would have on an animal, I'm really only familiar with the use of medications in humans.
However, cats are very small and generally require lower doses of anything. Some substances that can be safely used in humans or dogs are completely toxic to them. And since this is a diuretic, it could make him severely dehydrated.
