Wellbutrin 300mg Sr Doing Nothing After It Used To Work For Me In The Past.

Hello, I'm not sure if this is common or not, over the last 4 or 5 years I was on wellbutrin off and on,(mostly on). In the past when I started up again, I always knew it was working because for the first roughly two weeks I would get all the common side effects: Insomnia, tremors, anxiety, even a little paranoia, and of course loss of appetite. After about 2 or 3 months I usually would loose a good 15 pounds or so while taking the medication. Do to an insurance issue I was off the medication for about year. Recently (almost 3 ago now), I started taking my usual dose of 300mg a day again. However, this time around I feel no side effects at all? Could this mean I either built up a tolerance or the medication is going to stop working for some reason? Obviously I know I should really give it the usual 6 to 8 weeks to see if it will start working, but I'm just concerned that I don't feel any side effects this time around. Any thoughts? Thank you.

I've been a user of Bupropion (Wellbutrin is brand name) in its various forms (immediate release, SR, and XL) for almost 18 years. In that time, I've gone off it three times, each with eventual disastrous results. My doctor told me that the more you go on and off of this drug, the more chance of it being less effective in the future.
You are probably receiving the real welbutrin. When I get the tics and tremors it is from the fillers or subgrade bupropion. The Pharmacist told that fillers in generics will cause side effects. I have never had tics and tremors with brand I have over the past 20 years have always had them from generics.
Hello, Mike! How are you doing?
Normally, I'd tell someone to wait the full 4 to 6 weeks, to see if a medication is working or not, but that's usually for those new to taking something.
You have a lot of experience with this one and know how it affects you, so I have to agree that it may be that it's just not working this time. Have you consulted your doctor, yet? You most likely need to try a different medication.
