Been on Sandoz mfr. lorazepam for 10 years; no problems; no need to increase dose. Sandoz stopped mfr. Now, can only get these generic's & Actavis. Having lots of troubles getting results; either nothing or zonked. Anyone else w/any experience which mfr. is closer to Sandoz (since FDA approves up to 2% differences in generics). Thank you.

Ugh so it is confirmed that they are discontinuing.. :(

One of my pharmacists told me he wouldn't order the .5mgs for me. Said that his warehouse didn't like patients having large amounts on hand. He didn't right out say it but I'm guessing they thought some would sell them. I so wanted to say something but I didn't. But my other pharmacy said they couldn't even get it. Wal-Mart said they can't even look for other brands cause they have to order what corporate says. I'm not buying that either. Some pharmacies just don't want to help.
Re: Deedee (# 401)
Watson, Teva, Ranbaxy, Purepac, Actavis and Sandoz has never worked for me ever. (Even back in the day) The brand name and Mylan was the only thing that's ever worked for me. Can't say I've ever had Qualitest. Not sure I spelled that right. Who made it and what did the pill look like? I had some lorazepam given to me in the ER that worked but I don't know who made it. IV form that's like the real deal man.

That's crazy cuz my pharmacy and Teva's website shows Watson is made by Teva. I'm starting to think maybe we should all just throw our scripts in hat and select the flavor of the day. Ha!
Re: Jamie (# 407)
I think we’ve almost hit the end of the line on the generics. I started to really panic after reading these last few posts and what Gabby also said. I called my pharmacist today and told him I’m not due for a refill until July 2, but begged him to check the computer to see what was available and he said he can still order the 0.5, but the supply is much lower than it was last time he ordered and sees they will also be discontinued once the stock runs out on this one. He’s ordering a few bottles and putting my name only on them to get me by a few months. I would beg your pharmacist to do the same. The one thing I’ve discovered with the 0.5, is since it’s Mylan and it works well, I now have 4 a day instead of 2, so I’m able to spread my dosage out a little better. I’m just hoping what happened a few months ago doesn’t happen again, that was when Qualitest, which was what I took for over 7 years with no problems at all, the owner ordered me a bottle of 1000 since he knew I was getting them every month and it wouldn’t be a loss to him. But, with all the people who work there, was filling other patients with the Qualitest he ordered for me and what should’ve lasted me a year, only lasted 3 months and I was so upset when I went in on month 4, and they filled me with the garbage Leading brand.. now I’m working with his brother who is the main pharmacist and with all my other meds for diabetes, etc, they can’t afford to lose me and they know I’m really upset. If you’re worried about the 0.5, just adjust them to your normal dose. Good luck and keep on your pharmacist.
Re: Deedee (# 403)
I called Mylan today they said that they do have a supply of .5mgs. Only thing is my pharmacy didn't see it on their pc. They did say something about waiting for the formula to make more of each strength. But they said once it's gone they will not be making any more. No timeframe on when they'll be making more.
I've read through all the post here and I think that their agents answering the phone don't really have a answer. I'm assuming they're given only a small amount of info. Seriously what's the big secret and why so many answers to all of us.
Maybe if we keep calling they might see how much of a need their brand is to us? I most certainly conveyed that message to them. Cause once my fill is out I'm not sure what's next for me.
Re: Deedee (# 403)
Yes! My profile for the past 4 years is Mylan only! But they said they couldn’t get it. Pretty bad I had to give them the idea to see if .5 was available. Praying for all of us they do not discontinue!
Re: Gabby (# 405)
The Watson they gave me was by Actavis. Heard nothing but bad stuff about it. I had my doctor wrote a new script for Mylan .5 because they can’t get the 1mg.
Re: Jamie (# 402)
Hi Jamie, Watson is made by Teva. Their website show all 3 strengths with a photo.
Re: Jamie (# 402)
Watson is made by Teva. I called Mylan this morning and they said what I think Deedee said. They're waiting on ingredients to make all strengths but do-not know when it will be available. They did say .5 was still available but it isn't in my area. Like Deedee said once they're out of everything they will discontinue it. When that will happen they didn't know. Personally I think their customer service agents are in the dark. There was no reason why they will stop making it. I'm hoping if they get enough of us calling them they'll possibly continue to make it? Worth a shot. My guess is they've sold it to Teva or another big company and they don't want to divulge that information. So as it stands once it's gone were screwed.
Re: pjcentral (# 398)
I called Valeant today they said they do-not make a generic. They have the brand name only. They never made a generic. So the million dollar question is- is it the original? Hope that helps you Pj.
Re: Deedee (# 401)
I’m so glad to hear the 0.5 is still available. Just have your doc rewrite your rx accordingly. I normally take 1 mg twice a day, now she writes for 0.5 2 tabs twice a day and changed the quantity to 120. Since it’s mylan it is working fine. Normally 0.5 doesn’t help me at all. Be absolutely certain they don’t slip you the Leading by accident, they won’t take them back and you’ll be almost in a withdrawal state until you get your next rx filled. I had my pharmacy put it on my profile to give me Mylan only.
Re: Deedee (# 401)
The stuff they gave me says “Watson” but Actavis as the manufacturers. So this garbage everyone is talking about is not really Watson!? I haven’t taken any because I have a few Mylan left and found the pharmacy can order .5’s. This is so frustrating for so many people!
Re: Jamie (# 399)
The old Watson was actually the best, then Qualitest, which CVS gave me for years, then it was Mylan. The Watson I got 2 mos ago just didn’t work at all, toward the end of the month I actually felt like I was going through withdrawal, The Leading brand tasted like pure sugar, made me very jittery and like I had taken nothing. I did find out the 0.5 was still available, so my doc changed my 1 mg twice a day to two of the 0.5 twice a day. So far my pharmacy has still been able to get the 0.5. Good luck!
Re: Deedee (# 397)
I called my pharmacy they said they could order the .5 that they are available so I’m confused is it just 1mg being discontinued or all? Did they clarify that for you? I am so worried!!!
Re: Deedee (# 397)
Yes so frustrating! I have a few Mylan left but my reful is of the “Watson” Actavis. Only other brand any place has here is the Leading. Which would you say is better and can I ask what side effects you had? I’m literally scared. Mylan brand lorazepam was the only medication that has helped me these past 6 years! I’m so scared I’m not going to be able to function or live a somewhat normal life anymore. So you are still taking Mylan but .5s? Or something else. I had to call Mylan myself after hearing about all this and the different responses people got. So frustrated!!!
Re: Twig7 (# 395)
Twig. Thank you for the thorough explanation. I hope others can benefit from your findings. While it may be true that the original Wyeth and the current Valeant pills may be a different formula, they may also be the same. I really don't know. I only know they appear the same and seem to work similarly for me. I 've been taking what I believe to be the correct formula for a long time and, as I stated earlier, it works for me. Only for about 2 years I was forced to take generics due to a change in my company's plan. Only then I discovered that once the Ranbaxy was unavailable, NO other generic I tried could keep me on an even keel like the brand. None. True, I am fortunate my current plan allows me to take the brand at a reasonable co pay. But, I pay a much higher premium using this option. It would be nice if the Valeant generic turns out to be the same as the brand. If anyone out there can verify that, it would save me a bundle on my premium when I renew. Or, hopefully, Ranbaxy brings the generic back and didn't change anything.
Peace and good health to all.

I just can’t understand this!! I’ve talked to so many on this thread. Some swore it wasn’t being discontinued, so I sent two separate emails to the company, a month apart. Mylan rep called me back within 24 hours after each one. The first rep said it was a nationwide backorder just like my pharmacist told me. That it would be back on the market by May 21. When I was due for my next refill on June 4, I sent another email and rep called me right before that and said they had enough left to make one more batch, unsure of how many a batch is, but that it was being discontinued after that. She said to call every couple weeks to see when that release would be and then have my pharmacy followup. Strange thing is I have a friend who lives 30 miles north of me and she also is on the 1 mg dose and she’s still able to get the Mylan brand. It could be that her pharmacy just doesn’t fill that many and they still have them from an order long ago. My advice on the brands I’ve for sure had many problems with is Leading. They taste like pure sugar and gives me absolutely no relief at all. Watson used to be one of the best and now they’ve been bought out by Actavis or Sandoz and even though it has the Watson symbol it’s not the ingredients Watson used before. Also doesn’t work at all. I had my doc switch my rx to 0.5, doubling the dose and I’ve been on this last dose now for a couple weeks and still works just as well. If you find something that works, please let us know. Living with severe anxiety and panic attacks isn’t easy and we need to find someone to listen to us.
I talked to a Mylan rep this morning. She told me it was on back order and was undetermined if it was being discontinued or not. So upset. The only brand that has not caused issues for me. Nothing else works. I don’t know what to do! So upset!
Savannah (# 393) --
Hi Savannah, I'm not saying that it isn't the original formula. I'm saying that Biovail's pill looks like what you and Pj are taking. Valeant could have changed the pill back to its original state. I'd just like to see the generic they make and try it. What they charge is their business. Many makers of brand names do the same thing. I try not to get into the politics of whether it's right or wrong. I'm just confused what is what because the brand name I took worked so well for me. If Valeant is making the original formula I'd like to think that they hafta pass some kind of quality test that shows what they're making is indeed what they say it is. Hope things are going smoothly for y'all.
