Watson Vs. Mylan Generic Lorazepam Side Effects. (Page 21)
UpdatedBeen on Sandoz mfr. lorazepam for 10 years; no problems; no need to increase dose. Sandoz stopped mfr. Now, can only get these generic's & Actavis. Having lots of troubles getting results; either nothing or zonked. Anyone else w/any experience which mfr. is closer to Sandoz (since FDA approves up to 2% differences in generics). Thank you.
Re: Jamie (# 399)
The old Watson was actually the best, then Qualitest, which CVS gave me for years, then it was Mylan. The Watson I got 2 mos ago just didn’t work at all, toward the end of the month I actually felt like I was going through withdrawal, The Leading brand tasted like pure sugar, made me very jittery and like I had taken nothing. I did find out the 0.5 was still available, so my doc changed my 1 mg twice a day to two of the 0.5 twice a day. So far my pharmacy has still been able to get the 0.5. Good luck!
Re: Deedee (# 401)
The stuff they gave me says “Watson” but Actavis as the manufacturers. So this garbage everyone is talking about is not really Watson!? I haven’t taken any because I have a few Mylan left and found the pharmacy can order .5’s. This is so frustrating for so many people!
Re: Deedee (# 401)
I’m so glad to hear the 0.5 is still available. Just have your doc rewrite your rx accordingly. I normally take 1 mg twice a day, now she writes for 0.5 2 tabs twice a day and changed the quantity to 120. Since it’s mylan it is working fine. Normally 0.5 doesn’t help me at all. Be absolutely certain they don’t slip you the Leading by accident, they won’t take them back and you’ll be almost in a withdrawal state until you get your next rx filled. I had my pharmacy put it on my profile to give me Mylan only.
Re: pjcentral (# 398)
I called Valeant today they said they do-not make a generic. They have the brand name only. They never made a generic. So the million dollar question is- is it the original? Hope that helps you Pj.
Re: Jamie (# 402)
Watson is made by Teva. I called Mylan this morning and they said what I think Deedee said. They're waiting on ingredients to make all strengths but do-not know when it will be available. They did say .5 was still available but it isn't in my area. Like Deedee said once they're out of everything they will discontinue it. When that will happen they didn't know. Personally I think their customer service agents are in the dark. There was no reason why they will stop making it. I'm hoping if they get enough of us calling them they'll possibly continue to make it? Worth a shot. My guess is they've sold it to Teva or another big company and they don't want to divulge that information. So as it stands once it's gone were screwed.
Re: Jamie (# 402)
Hi Jamie, Watson is made by Teva. Their website show all 3 strengths with a photo.
Re: Gabby (# 405)
The Watson they gave me was by Actavis. Heard nothing but bad stuff about it. I had my doctor wrote a new script for Mylan .5 because they can’t get the 1mg.
Re: Deedee (# 403)
Yes! My profile for the past 4 years is Mylan only! But they said they couldn’t get it. Pretty bad I had to give them the idea to see if .5 was available. Praying for all of us they do not discontinue!
Re: Deedee (# 403)
I called Mylan today they said that they do have a supply of .5mgs. Only thing is my pharmacy didn't see it on their pc. They did say something about waiting for the formula to make more of each strength. But they said once it's gone they will not be making any more. No timeframe on when they'll be making more.
I've read through all the post here and I think that their agents answering the phone don't really have a answer. I'm assuming they're given only a small amount of info. Seriously what's the big secret and why so many answers to all of us.
Maybe if we keep calling they might see how much of a need their brand is to us? I most certainly conveyed that message to them. Cause once my fill is out I'm not sure what's next for me.
Re: Jamie (# 407)
I think we’ve almost hit the end of the line on the generics. I started to really panic after reading these last few posts and what Gabby also said. I called my pharmacist today and told him I’m not due for a refill until July 2, but begged him to check the computer to see what was available and he said he can still order the 0.5, but the supply is much lower than it was last time he ordered and sees they will also be discontinued once the stock runs out on this one. He’s ordering a few bottles and putting my name only on them to get me by a few months. I would beg your pharmacist to do the same. The one thing I’ve discovered with the 0.5, is since it’s Mylan and it works well, I now have 4 a day instead of 2, so I’m able to spread my dosage out a little better. I’m just hoping what happened a few months ago doesn’t happen again, that was when Qualitest, which was what I took for over 7 years with no problems at all, the owner ordered me a bottle of 1000 since he knew I was getting them every month and it wouldn’t be a loss to him. But, with all the people who work there, was filling other patients with the Qualitest he ordered for me and what should’ve lasted me a year, only lasted 3 months and I was so upset when I went in on month 4, and they filled me with the garbage Leading brand.. now I’m working with his brother who is the main pharmacist and with all my other meds for diabetes, etc, they can’t afford to lose me and they know I’m really upset. If you’re worried about the 0.5, just adjust them to your normal dose. Good luck and keep on your pharmacist.

That's crazy cuz my pharmacy and Teva's website shows Watson is made by Teva. I'm starting to think maybe we should all just throw our scripts in hat and select the flavor of the day. Ha!
Re: Deedee (# 401)
Watson, Teva, Ranbaxy, Purepac, Actavis and Sandoz has never worked for me ever. (Even back in the day) The brand name and Mylan was the only thing that's ever worked for me. Can't say I've ever had Qualitest. Not sure I spelled that right. Who made it and what did the pill look like? I had some lorazepam given to me in the ER that worked but I don't know who made it. IV form that's like the real deal man.
Deedee (# 408) --
One of my pharmacists told me he wouldn't order the .5mgs for me. Said that his warehouse didn't like patients having large amounts on hand. He didn't right out say it but I'm guessing they thought some would sell them. I so wanted to say something but I didn't. But my other pharmacy said they couldn't even get it. Wal-Mart said they can't even look for other brands cause they have to order what corporate says. I'm not buying that either. Some pharmacies just don't want to help.
Deedee (# 408) --
Ugh so it is confirmed that they are discontinuing.. :(
Gabby (# 410) --
Qualitest was the company. One side had a V, other side was 4008. They worked great and CVS/Target dispensed them for years for me. They told me a couple years ago they had to order Actavis bec the cost was way cheaper. Tried for one month, felt like I was going through withdrawals, sick, not working, panic attacks worse than ever. I went looking to find Qualitest everywhere, checked all major pharmacies as well as Kroger, Meijer, etc., finally found a family owned Sav-On store and the pharmacist was wonderful, very caring, and Target didn’t care that I had like 10+ rxs a month being filled, so I switched cuz they promised me they could get them. For several months they were ordered by the month, then when Qualitest notified they were going out of business with lorazepam, the owner ordered the last bottle of 1000 to hold for me. Unfortunately after only 3 mos, with so many family members working in his store, dispensing other patients the stuff he ordered for me, I noticed the crappy Actavis brand again!!! But, at that time there was Mylan, Watson was still Watson, and a couple others. So I asked for Mylan and that’s where I’ve been since. Now, I don’t know what I’m gonna do after these run out. He told me last month they were still showing a large amount coming in, but now we’re getting super low so he’s ordering at least a couple bottles and promised my name was going on them. I haven’t used anything else for anxiety, but know for sure Valium I won’t take cuz it just makes me sleep. I have such a severe case of panic attacks and depression, I just panic thinking of what I’m gonna do to get through these days. Praying is about it for now??
Re: Deedee (# 393)
I’m so sorry everyone is struggling . It’s so unfair for all of us . People who do not understand anxiety and panic have no idea what we go through . May something come through for all . I do miss my mylan brand so much . I’m on the Ativan brand name and I have to take less . I notice I’m getting depressed on it . It must be a lot stronger . Mylan I felt so good on ..
Savannah (# 413) --
Might be that your body needs to adjust to the change from Mylan to brand. Have you taken the brand before.
Deedee (# 412) --
Can't say I've ever taken Qualitest before.I seen that pill online but didn't know who made it. Someone said something about a new Sandoz coming out? Haven't seen any new post about it. There is sublingual lorazepam. Might check into that folks. I'm going to. Maybe it will work better.
Has anyone out there been okay or was able to adjust to leading or Actavis? Gabby, how were you able to get name brand?!! Pharmacist told me it’d be 4000! A month. If my doctor says that’s all I can take would insurance fight it? I have one month left of Mylan and I’m so scared only thing that has helped me for years! I hate that no one gets it. I couldn’t work for a year and Mylan made me stable. I’m scared to be how I was before. I’m only 30 and have a ft job ect, it was so bad before my panic attacks were horrific and felt like I was having withdrawal before Mylan. I literally wanted to die it was so scary. I’m in such a good place now and so worried. Mylan confirmed they are discontinuing.
Gabby (# 415) --
I don't know if they make a generic form of lorazepam in the sublingual. I'm going to check into it find out who makes it. I'll let you all know if I come up with something. Possibly may work better then all the other generics we've taken? Worth a try to find out.
