Been on Sandoz mfr. lorazepam for 10 years; no problems; no need to increase dose. Sandoz stopped mfr. Now, can only get these generic's & Actavis. Having lots of troubles getting results; either nothing or zonked. Anyone else w/any experience which mfr. is closer to Sandoz (since FDA approves up to 2% differences in generics). Thank you.

As an Ativan user my view of the problem is this: All manufacturer's versions of lorazepam do not work. Up until the last day of 2013 one manufacturer did offer a lorazepam version that would work at a reasonable price. This is what most of us were taking. When they stopped offering them, due to sellout, etc. the ativan user market was forced to get their med's from other companies. Generic med's can legally allow a 25% difference +/- in each pill. They may also use different fillers in their pills that are cheaper & neutalize the affect on reducing anxiety. The price for brand only ativan then shot up to $1200 for a 90 day supply. Due to the absolute need for the brand only ativan many people have lost their life savings, ordered on line to outside sources or have been put into hospitals to control their anxiety, panic attacks & seizures. Those that go to in care facilities are given lorazepam PLUS other med's to control the anxiety attacks. This is a microcosim of the power & greed of pharmaceutical companies. Realiiazation of this problem is not concurred by Doctors, Hospitals, health plans, pharmaceutical companies, politicians, etc. It is sad that the only people who understand the problem is the user. The higher % income people can afford the drastic jump in price of the ativan & are probably investing in the company that makes it. Pardon me to all of you for being very wordy. On purpose I did not mention any manufacturers names. Sometimes we try to solve the problem by bouncing from one manufacturer to another but in today's world that will not help. This is only my personal view & I have placed a note in my health records of the need for brand only Ativan in my case. Last thing, it is sad to retroflect & think of all the people who are living in anguish today because of this., Sturg

blackbird ... So CVS uses Mylan as well as Actavis? Good to know. I really need to go through a truly discounted pharmacy. CVS is through the roof. Costco has been great but don't know if they can order through Mylan. Will ask. Thanks, happy for you.

What manufacturer produces CVS's Lorazepam. CVS is enormously expensive. I've been using Costco for years. CVS: $133 for 240 1mg Lorazepam vs. $16 (YES SIXTEEN DOLLARS) via Costco. Do you have drug insurance? I don't so probably you do better if you have some drug insurance.

Consumer11 ... Thanks. What an odd name "Sandoz Pill 98" ... will try to find it, but sounds like it could be very difficult. It's so cruel of these money grubbing pharmas to destroy things that work for us.

Sandoz pill 98. If you can find it, very effective at .50 mg does. But can't find it. Walgreens, target, cvs, Walmart, Safeway and raleys all seem to carry very weak ineffective generics of lorapezam. Only 2 or 3 pills seems to do anything. Hopefully those companies will change to a more effective generic soon.

Watson is in business and still sells is 1mg 241 Lorazepam pill. Watson bought Actavis and they sold the Actavis brand of Lorazepam to Sandoz who now sells it. Watson kept there Lorazepam formula and I have been on it for years and still take it. The label on the bottle says Actavis but its the Watson 241 brand pill which the label clearly states. I know this because I called Watson because I did not want anything to do with the Actavis brand. I was given their brand one time and it was like taking water. When I go to the pharmacy I clearly ask for the Watson brand and always get it. The brand that Sandoz sells is not their old formula but the Actavis brand.

Watson is no longer in business, but has sold out to Actavis which makes a pure saw dust version of Lorazepam. I'm so upset over this.

I want to find a company that produces an Ativan Generic that WORKS. Anyone know of a company now that makes an effective Lorazepam. Actavis should be out of business, sued, whatever.

OMG, just found out what a lousy product Actavis makes in its Lorazepam.

How do we know of a GOOD manufacturer without spending tons of money trying the ones listed ...

Biovail Corporation, Excellium Pharmaceutical, Mutual Pharmaceutical, Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals and Teva Pharmaceuticals.

Has anyone found a company that manufactures Lorazepam in a form that works!!! Watson was great til they sold out to Actavis. Honestly I'm freaked out over this.

I need to amend my comment above. Apparently, I took the wrong dosage of the Watson/Activas. It actually works fairly well. Not as great as the Mylan, but okay until my next refill. My mistake.

Hi folks. I'm new to this site. I've been on Ativan generics for many years, but never had a problem until very recently. CVS Caremark sent me a 90-day supply of a generic made by sandoz which was completely useless and made me dizzy. I looked at my previous prescription and saw the generic name was Watson, so I had my doctor send in a new prescription for Watson. Meanwhile, my doc phoned in a 5-day emergency supply to CVS and I received a Mylan generic. The Mylan generic works great for me. After many weeks, CVS Caremark finally came through with the Watson pills, now made by Activas. I just took my first pill today and NOTHING. It doesn't work at all and I've already had 3x my normal dose! It seems apparent that the quality of the various brands can change on a dime. But as of September, 2014, Sandoz and Watson are garbage and Mylan is excellent.

I am glad excellcium works for you, I had a reaction to it. It is the only generic Ativan that is made in this country. I believe in New Jersey but it still can fluctuate by 20% on strength & weakness of each pill. I tried it in May of 2014. STURG

What pharmacies sell excellium? And how much is it? I've tried watson 241/1 and it's so weak That I end up taking 4 pills just to handle anxiety attack. And that's all that walgreens, rite aid carries. Any other generics that work as good as sandoz 98,? If so who carries it?

I've posted several times trying to help those Rambaxy suffers. I used Rambaxy, too. And had horrible experiences with the other generics. I found Excellium by chance by calling around to small pharmacies. There isn't much written about this generic but it works like Rambaxy (at least for me). I am completely normal again. I wanted to try the name brand Ativan but my co payment would have been $600. I highly recommend giving Excellium a try, if you can find it locally. Good luck.

Yes - 3 different Lorazepam manufacturers. I was sensitive to them all. Nocturnaly, woke up with high anxiety, some panic attacks & insomnia. I have been taking Ativan 2 mg brand only for 15 years. I also require brand only Dilantin. I take a couple of other meds that are generic. STURG
