Watson Is Now Actavis Generic Percocet 5/325 What Is Up With This (Page 5) (Top voted first)
UpdatedI had been taking 5/325 generic Watson percocet for 4 years. Suddenly I get notified by Walgreens which I have insurance that there is no more Watson brand and I was given generic percocet 5/325 by Actavis. It is not the same at all. It has no pain relief for me. I used to break the watsons in half sometimes and never had a funny taste. I just broke one of the actavis white tablets in half and it immediately tasted like salt or alka seltzer? Has anyone had any issues with this drug too. Also, along with it not working right it has made my GI tract and stomach so ill feeling and cramping. This is not right how can they take away a medicine that someone has been on for 4 years without any problems and tell them to suddenly switch. Would a peson who has been on a certain heart medication for years be told to suddenly switch that he can't get that medicine anymore? I don't think so. I don't know what I am going to do but when it comes time to have my rx re-filled it will not be with Actavis and I will have to pharmacy shop I guess to see if I can find Watson. I am very depressed now and so unhappy I can't believe it.

Just saw this and will be calling. Thanks for the share. I hope everyone on this thread does the same.
In addition to my earlier post....
By complaining to Actavis about getting their bad a333 pills...they will refund you the cost of the pills.
We have to suffer for the rest of the month so its better than nothing.
When you do call and get the VM...leave a message. They will call you back in a couple of days.

Good luck to you all who have had to cope with pain.
Rammstein-get the yellow Qualitest instead. They're better than the Watsons and no one is playing with the formula.
If you pay cash, ask for any discount programs they have.
They signed me up for one free.
Qty= 120 is $40 cash
You'll like these much better than the watson, I promise. I get mine at CVS.
I spoke to CVS corporate. ALL CVS pharmacies can order them. Just go there now to set it up well before your next refill.
Hi lisa m....im still taking endocet. ....praying for a watson...there should b a bumper sticker that says that...lol. are u sure ur friends med bottle says watson? Thete was someone here not too long ago... cant remember who it was exactly...but they kept saying their friend was telling them they were getting Watson's... come to find out, the friends pills looked like the Watson's but when she read the bottle, they were actually Actavis. Im not so crazy about the endocet but im able to function with em better than the mallinkrodt that I tried...I just remembered I think I tried amneal too...when I first tried mallinkrodt, the mom n pop shop I went to didn't have enough to fill my script so they filled the remaining 10 pills with amneal. They didnt help..
LOLA...whats the deal w you now? What have u been taking? I know uve had trouble n were being prescribed one strength then another...one brand to another. So how r u feeling lately?
Jennifer thank you so much. That is a good idea, I have a very compassionate doctor so the script should not be a problem. You are right, I would hate to get stuck with a prescription for 30 days that does not work. We have a CVS and a Walgreens in town so maybe either one could order the Endocet brand. Thanks everyone on this site (except for a certain 2) for being so helpful.
One more thing that crossed my mind for u Trish. .. endocet is generic Percocet made by the sane company that makes brand Percocet. ...I dont recall off the top of my head how exact the formula is from the generic to the brand. ..but if there is any generic that comes the closest. ..its endocet. What medication were u taking prior to getting the endocet?
Hello everyone, just picked up my script for percocet from CVS and damn it it was the Activis. When I asked the pharmacist for qualitest he said they did not carry that brand. So here I sit in pain with a bottle full of what I believe is tums because they do absolutely nothing. Hope you are all doing well...Diane
That is good news, hopefully when I call around I can find Watson. So far the pharmacies I called only carry the Activis brand. I called Shopco and they told me they could order the Mallinckrodt brand. Which is better than Activis because my last prescription filled at CVS that told me they could only get Activis filled my prescription with the "Malls". I am getting symptoms of WD cold sweats then getting very hot, right now I have a fan blowing on me by two minutes later I am cold. I hope I can get through this, it is amazing to me that a prescription for percocet made by Activis does absolutely nothing. Thank you all for your support and may you all get the right prescription brand. Damn CVS
Rammstein, you have to ask what manufacturer they use for their generic Percocet before you hand in the script. That's y many of us mentioned in previous posts that you have to go from pharmacy to pharmacy and ask before you get your script cause its gonna take you time to find out which pharmacy can help you and you don't want to be without your medication in the meantime. Try to go back to your dr and tell em the actavis is making you sick and you itch all over, cant sleep cause its giving you anxiety along with it not giving you pain relief. tell em youll give them your meds so long as they write you another script. But research where youre gonna get it filled first. Maybe he ll help you. Also you mentioned you were given malls on time...are you referring to mallinkrodt? Ive tried them and their ok...helped a little but not much but that's just me....it may work for you...to each is own as they say but if I couldn't get endocet, I would be taking mallinkrodt....just saying. but there are maybe 4 wallgreens in my town and out of the 4, only two of them will special order the endocet for me so if one location tells you they wont, another may so still try at other location even if youre turned away from one location. let us know what happens!
Rammsteinfan,
You have so many good point, but I want to give you this information in the meantime because I think they will hold this post for review. A lady, Marianne in AZ has developed a petition to try to get some lawmakers on our side, because this problem is nationwide and we are starting to pay a ridiculous price for the Federal governments stupidity. Please click on the petition, every signature is important. You will notice that the petition is address to the federal government along with the State of AZ governments. The petition will be adjusted to include each state that people sign on, that way all interested people have their state notified along with the federal.

We have to get something going for ourselves, or we are going to end up with no medical care and no medications that we need to function.
Lola, I have used Qualitest for many years and they weren't too bad until hydrocodone quit working for me. I am asking my pharmacist if they can order quali or Mallinkrodt Percocet for me. Those two didn't seem too bad. At least I could take my normal dose and get some pain relief! As it is now, I am unable to do anything because of the pain and other side effects! I am extremely po'd how Actavis treated me yesterday. The tone of her voice was basically saying," complain all you want, we aren't changing a thing!" And, I found out it isn't only their narcotics they are having problems with! It's all their meds! I read this at The People's Pharmacy, you can go to their website, make a complaint and tell them how nothing is working with all the complaints we have filed and I guess they try help get to the bottom of it! There was a guy I read a post from that said he talked to Actavis and was seeking a lawyer. They told him to go ahead but that they cannot be sued for anything because a certain law protects them! Can you believe that??? The freaking nerve of these people. I do believe they know their meds are sub standard but they won't do anything about it. They can make the meds cheaper yet still charge the consumer high prices! Not good.....not good at all! Are we going to end up stuck in this nightmare? I hope not! Especially if our pharmacist doesn't have to let us know of any changes in brands when they fill them. Well, I won't trust anyone and WILL ask every single month before anyone gets my rx! It is I who suffers, not them!
Jennifer....what made me question my percocets from Actavis and look it up on here was my horrible experience a year and a half ago to their hydrocodone. I did realize when ya'all started complaining and I did tell Actavis and the FDA this! As well as telling them about the hydrocodone. A med has never mad me as sick as these have! I do believe people should still be complaining to Actavis and the FDA since absolutely nothing is being done! I have read some pretty scary stuff regarding an antidepressant from Actavis and the FDA looking the other way when people were committing suicide due to the bad effects of the drug. Not only did they look the other way, but they approved the use of this generic 300mg dose drug due to the fact that the 150mg dose worked well. I guess they are trying to stop this from ever happening again but I have my doubts! Especially when going through what we are/have been going through on other meds. It is total lack of responsibility on the fda's part! Can you imagine how many chronic pain patients have either turned to a less expensive street drug ( H ) or commit suicide due to no pain control? I know there were many times I wish I didn't have to live anymore if this is what my life will be! We cannot, IMHO, trust the people in charge of our food and drug safety! THAT is irresponsible and even criminal!
Hi Jennifer.....I really appreciate you posting all this to me, and, honestly, I wasn't trying to argue with you about the abuse deterrent.....all I know is what I read and what the FDA said about which meds contain the, or any kind of, deterrent. Now, and this I find interesting.....they talked about using naloxone/naltrexone as a deterrent in immediate release/fast acting narcotics. There is one major problem that I see with this....naltrexone is used as an opiate replacement, sort of, when coming off opiates. A lot of addicts use this in the form of suboxone for withdrawing off opiates because it fills the narcotic receptors and supposedly stops cravings. This is used for H withdrawl as well.....since H is a narcotic, schedule 1. Now, if you take naltrexone before being in moderate to severe withdrawl, it causes precipitated Withdrawl which is way more severe than normal withdrawl. Also, while on naltrexone, opiates do not work for the pain nor will they make you feel "high." Hence the reason they use it! Supposedly, the naltrexone would be released from a narcotic if it is broken up, chewed or melted to a form for intravenous use (understandable). But, it is also released if someone takes too many at one time to try and feel a high. Now, my question is, why wouldn't the naltrexone be released when the narcotic is being processed in the stomach before reaching the liver, etc if it is released if taking too many at once? This would definitely cause precipitated withdrawl! The body, while metabolizing medications, does not know if you are taking one or ten pills! I'm not asking as if you know how this works although it would be great if you did! Lol. Common sense tells me that it would be impossible to stop the release of this drug when ingested normally. Does this even make sense to you? Also, regarding abuse deterrents in other meds, OxyContin for instance, people are complaining that it gives minimal, if any, pain relief. That makes sense since the active ingredient is inside the gel-like plastic deterrent and the body does not metabolize plastics...nor cellulose. I am all for lessening abuse potential of narcotics but, IMHO, they are going about it all wrong! Especially when the deterrent is changing the efficacy of the drug. It's also changing the availability to the body! Addicts, I heard, have found ways around this deterrent so they are able...with a lot of work, to achieve the high they did with the original formula! The deterrents are not working in the way they had hoped. They are only making people suffer more. How long has it been since they changed the formula in OxyContin, 4 years or so? And yet it has not deterred the addicts one bit! How long is it going to take these people, who have probably never had to use a pain med for any length of time if at all, to realize their "answer to abuse" just is not working? I recently read that the original OxyContin formula is available in Australia, for sure, and if think Canada as well. But, the US will not allow it to be sold here as it is a generic form that has no deterrent. The patent on it is not up for another 10 years! How many suicides or even suicide attempts is it going to take for the FDA and such to listen to the patients? Sorry for the rant......
Oh, Jennifer, I'm sorry I didn't really notice your post re: the articles. Now what you are saying makes sense but why would the FDA say only 2 drugs have a deterrent and they are both long acting meds? I know someone taking the plain oxycodone and he is able to break them up/chew them. No, he is not a drug addict.....he has a hard time swallowing any kind of pill so he either breaks it up or chews his oxycodone. They work great for him. Anyway, I thought you were meaning all oxycodone products including the combo products. Sorry I misunderstood. I did read that Actavis was allowed to sell a small supply of their oxycodone IR since either August or October, that contain a deterrent, but they do not have a rule that all of them have to contain a deterrent. In fact, they were not sure what was going to happen after this short run. Oh, the FDA is who "they" are. I don't see why that was allowed! Something smells fishy about this but what can we do? Nothing, I suppose!
At the bottom of the article, click on the citings tab n see where u can find so much more info on the topics.....check out #21.... interesting huh? I only read the citings titles but intend on reading the articles that apply in the citings!
Ive read some things on the peoples pharmacy site a few times as it came up in my searches. .....just like I wrote below in my "Munch" moment.....theyre not gonna do anything. .....we're a small crumb in their bakery. U seem to hv a pharmacist that builds relationships with his patients. ...my actual pharmacist is a miserable bastard who would rather not b bothered....but the firmer pharmacist who worked at my pharmacy was transferred to another location in my town and promoted to manager of the pharmacy there, well, he was awesome! Is awesome! Friendly, upbeat, helpful....blah blah, blah. ...hes the one who helped me originally with the endocet and every time I hv questions ir need to know something. ..I go to him and know hes gonna help.....but alot of the people here hv pharmacists that are aholes and not easy to talk to and if u try to talk to them, they treat u like an abuser instead of a pain patient trying to manage your pain in the best way possible. So sometimes, it best some of these people dont ask too many questions. ...and those who can and cant know who they are.
God n I thought NJ was bad. Every time u get a rx for pain meds, the state is informed. If u get an rx from a dr other then the 1st 1, even if u changed drs, the pharmacist calls both of them. At least the a**hole at our local chain store (its 2 words) my husband just turned 70, he has a rare disorder that is not treatable except w/ pain meds. He was not dr shopping. He changed drs cuz he went to 5 drs over 3 yrs. He finally was given a referral to a wonderful, kind n CARING pain dr. He prescribed something hubby never had before. 15 mg of oxycontin w/o tylenol. He was the 1st dr not intimidated.
NJ is 1 of the 3 most strict states for pain meds. Evidently urs is another. It took almost 3 yrs to get proper meds. We were finally able to c a neuropsyologist (?). He was diagnosed with small nerve fiber idiopathic neuropathy. Dr said in her career, shes only had 3 other patients with it. She is at. Jefferson neuroligical specialty hospital in philly. The jacka** pharmscist gave hubby a hard time. I called the H Q of the pharmacy n explained things. Totally
The next day the chain pharmacy mgr called. also told us they were out n would not have any for a week as they were out. the mgr spoke with me as i filed complaint n then hubby. Amazing when u tell them u r contacting ur elected officials n filing a complaint how apologetic they r n do the right thing. The store mgr was instructed to order the pills n always have them in stock. So, it took approx. 3 yrs to get the meds he so desperately needed. So, dont give up. Make calls, contact ur senators n dont give up. Best of luck to you!
Jennifer I am sorry if my posts sounded as if the Acativis worked for me Absolutely NOT. I have been getting my pain meds filled at Shopko who carry Malls. The last time I had my pain meds filled was a couple of weeks ago after surgery and the doc prescribed Percocet. My husband went and had them filled at Walgreens/Actavis ugh. I asked him to take them back and get them filled at Shopko but he did not want to do all that running around so I just suffered. I have read all the posts complaining about Actavis and I agree, you might as well just take tylenol, at least they do not make me sick and tired. Thanks for your input, I love this web site it proves I am not crazy with all of the people on this site have the same reaction as I.
